One of the main reasons viewers continue to return to the series is the Jujutsu Kaisen characters. The cast is packed with memorable personalities, wild abilities, and stories that genuinely hit hard. So when Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo arrived and jumped 68 years into the future, a lot of familiar faces simply vanished from the story. No mention, no cameo, nothing. Here are 10 major characters who didn't make the cut.

List of the Jujutsu Kaisen characters

1. Inumaki Toge

One of the most beloved Jujutsu Kaisen characters ever put to page, Toge Inumaki is hard to forget. He communicates entirely in rice ball ingredients to avoid accidentally cursing people around him, and somehow that makes him one of the most expressive characters in the whole series. His Cursed Speech technique is genuinely one of the most creative power systems in the manga. He can make someone explode just by saying "explode." He lost his left arm during the Shibuya Incident, but he kept fighting. The fact that Modulo doesn't acknowledge him at all feels like a real missed opportunity.

2. Higuruma Hiromi

Higuruma is one of the most interesting Jujutsu Kaisen characters that were introduced during the Culling Game. He was a defense lawyer who snapped when the legal system let him down too many times. Opponents are put on trial in a courtroom under his domain, Deadly Sentencing. You walk if you win the lawsuit. If you lose, you could be struck by the Executioner's Sword, which always kills. One of the series's best character arcs is his transformation from a disillusioned killer to a reluctant ally. It stings a little that Modulo completely ignored him.

3. Hakari Kinji

One of those Jujutsu Kaisen characters that seems to have been created just to be someone's favorite is Hakari. He runs an underground fight club. clashes with Jujutsu High's conservative leadership and has a domain expansion based on a pachinko game. If he hits the jackpot, he will be unkillable for a little more than four minutes, recovering from everything and anything and having an endless supply of cursed energy. Gojo himself said Hakari had the potential to surpass him. He held his own against Uraume in the Shinjuku Showdown. Not even a mention after 68 years? That is painful.

4. Kirara Hoshi

Not every iconic character needs to be a powerhouse. Some of the best Jujutsu Kaisen characters work because of how they fit into the story around them, and Kirara is a great example of that. They are fiercely loyal to Hakari, sharp enough to hold their own against Megumi and Panda at the same time, and their cursed technique, Love Rendezvous, uses the Southern Cross constellation as its foundation. It is creative, stylish, and completely unique. Kirara also played a small role in the Shinjuku raid. But in Modulo? Nothing.

5. Miwa Kasumi

Kasumi is one of the Jujutsu Kaisen characters that fans rooted for even when the story wasn't really focusing on her. She doesn't have an innate technique, which puts her at a real disadvantage in a world full of sorcerers with broken abilities. But she works hard, uses New Shadow Style swordsmanship, and cares about the people around her. She became a sorcerer to support her two younger brothers. That kind of motivation is rare in this series. She deserved at least a passing mention in Modulo, but she didn't get one.

6. Kamo Noritoshi

Noritoshi Kamo is one of the more emotionally layered Jujutsu Kaisen characters in the supporting cast. He started the series as a stiff, duty-driven heir to the Kamo Clan, ordered to execute Yuji and willing to go through with it. But by the end, he had been exiled from the clan, lost his sense of purpose, and was fighting simply because he had nothing left to lose. His Blood Manipulation technique is versatile and powerful, and his growth as a character is genuinely earned. Modulo jumps 68 years ahead and never looks back at him.

7. Utahime Iori

Utahime doesn't get enough credit. She is a semi-grade 1 sorcerer, a teacher at Kyoto Jujutsu High, and someone who has been in the background holding things together since the early arcs. Her technique, Solo Forbidden Area, amplifies the cursed energy of willing sorcerers around her, making her one of the best support characters in the series. She also played a key role in the Gojo vs. Sukuna battle by buffing the allied sorcerers. Among the Jujutsu Kaisen characters left out of Modulo, Utahime is one of the most underrated losses.

8. Takaba Fumihiko

Takaba might be the wildest entry on this list. He is a failing comedian who got pulled into the Culling Game and discovered his technique literally makes his jokes a reality. If he is certain something is funny, it happens. That sounds ridiculous, but it was strong enough to push Kenjaku, a thousand-year-old sorcerer, to his absolute limit. The Angel herself said Takaba should be the one to fight Kenjaku. He is one of the most unique Jujutsu Kaisen characters in the entire run of the manga. And Modulo has zero interest in acknowledging that.

9. Miguel Oduol

Miguel is one of those Jujutsu Kaisen characters who should have had far more page time. He is a Kenyan sorcerer who initially made an appearance during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons as one of Geto's commanders. He fought Satoru Gojo. He used his Black Rope to bypass Gojo's Infinity and hit the most powerful sorcerer on the planet. It says a lot that Gojo hired him following that fight. Later, he trained Yuta in Kenya, and it is obvious that this training helped Yuta grow in strength. However, Modulo makes no mention of it.

10. Sasaki Setsuko

Setsuko is a normal high school student, not a sorcerer, and that is exactly why she is interesting. She was part of Yuji's Occult Research Club before the whole cursed spirit situation put them in two separate worlds. She is one of the only Jujutsu Kaisen characters who represents what an ordinary person looks like inside this world. She even had a brief but meaningful moment during the Culling Game when Kenjaku personally escorted her out of the Sendai Colony, hinting she might be more connected to the story than it seems. Modulo skips 68 years ahead and leaves her thread completely unresolved.

Conclusion

Modulo is a new story set in a new era, and that is fine. Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu carry the series well. But 68 years is a long time, and part of what made the original Jujutsu Kaisen characters so memorable was how much they meant to each other and to the readers who followed them. Not all Jujutsu Kaisen characters need a send-off, but a mention here and there would have gone a long way. For now, fans are left to wonder what happened to all of them after the Culling Game changed the world.
