Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1 brings the story back after a five-year gap. The anime started on October 3, 2026, and airs weekly on Crunchyroll. The Magic Knights are attacking the Spade Kingdom to save their captains from the Dark Triad. Asta is yet to join them.
In Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1, we see Asta learning true devil union from Nacht while training. Asta’s friends go to enemy land without him, and the people of Spade fight back. The episode ends with Mereoleona coming to help.
Asta and Liebe train against Nacht
Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1 starts with a brief review of the previous season's ending and then shifts to Asta, Liebe, and Nacht during their training. Nacht transforms into devil union to instruct Asta on how to maximize the anti-magic ability obtained from Liebe. Asta breaks free using black form tricks. Liebe’s power diminishes every time he taps into it.
Nacht sheds light on the workings of devil contracts where the human issuing orders takes the lead. Asta’s state is not a true union. With dark form, he gets only a small fraction of Liebe’s power, as the devil cannot help him greatly.
Shadow devils push Asta to his limit in Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1
Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1 features a primary focus on the shadow attack. Nacht calls Gimodello and engages in a battle with shadows of many devils. They merge so completely with Nacht's own shadow that Asta is unable to determine his position. Asta concludes that Nacht has secured four deals. Hence, he has been able to cheat death four times.
The battle is quite impressive. During one fight sequence, the only visible colors are white, black, and red. Asta then expresses an idea of becoming closer to each other through fighting together, only to be opposed by Liebe. Asta's mana zone is destroyed as Nacht opens his own one and hits his opponent from every possible angle.
Nacht heads out with the Magic Knights
Nacht informs Asta that the devil union does not last, and he has to learn it well. However, going into enemy territory would kill him with shadow magic. Nacht decides to go ahead and leaves Gimodello with Asta. Asta says he will finish his training before joining Nacht.
Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1 also shows Yuno. Langris appears with his spatial magic, and Yuno states that Bell is in his grimoire and that he has some plans for Zenon, although he is not so sure how successful they will be.
Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1 also unites the squad, who wear camouflage robes created by Sally from examining Asta’s body. Asta is yet to arrive, but the group has everything ready already. Meanwhile, in Spade, the Dark Triad is still in the process of their ritual. The magic of Yami and William is used to open a portal to another dimension.
The resistance stands up to the Dark Triad

Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1 moves to the Spade Kingdom's palace. Resistance members face the Dark Triad. They remind them that their king and comrades were killed 17 years ago. They admit they cannot win, yet they will never accept the Dark Triad as rulers. Nacht reveals he went undercover in Spade and stayed in touch with the resistance after leaving. They offer to create a diversion for him and Yuno, even at the cost of their lives.
The ground then shakes, and a monster rises. It is the ancient demon the first Wizard King once defeated. The Dark Triad mock the citizens and start their ritual. Mereoleona arrives and lands a heavy punch on the demon. She tells the resistance she admires their courage and promises her support. Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1 pairs her fight with another music-free stretch, much like Nacht's bout with Asta.
