Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle and Chainsaw Man: Reze arc both secure 2026 Saturn Awards nominations

Chainsaw Man: Reze arc has officially been nominated as one of the best international animated films for the 2026 Saturn Awards. It will be competing against other great movies such as Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, which is also in this category, along with four other films.

The 53rd Saturn Awards have released the list of nominees for the category of Best International Animated Film; both Chainsaw Man: Reze arc and Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle were selected to be nominated by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films as two of the six best international animated films of the last year. All the nominees are released by Japanese animation companies.

So the nominees for best animated sci-fi/horror/fantasy films were announced at this year's Saturn Awards, and two of those are Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc, from MAPPA, and Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. The other international nominations include Attack on Titan: The Last Attack, The Colors Within, Nezha 2, and Stitch Head.

The movie, based on Tatsuki Fujimoto's hugely popular manga, was animated by MAPPA and tells the story of Denji and his relationship with the enigmatic Reze through thrilling action as well as dramatic and emotional storytelling. It was released in Japan on September 19 and has grossed over $174.7 million worldwide.

Tatsuya Yoshihara directed the Chainsaw Man: Reze arc, where everyone agrees that it was incredibly visually stunning and emotionally intense! The production has been able to perfectly combine all the things that make the franchise so unique: The brutal fighting mixed with the surprisingly heartfelt aspects of the characters.


Demon Slayer Continues Its Award Season Momentum

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle already made big news this award thingy going on right now, too. From a Golden Globe nomination to being recognized by lots of other classy organizations. Indeed, Infinity Castle depicts the final battle of the Demon Slayer Corps against Muzan Kibutsuji.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has also grossed over 779 million dollars globally, making Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle one of the highest-grossing films of 2025. Infinity Castle also broke all kinds of box office records, including the highest-grossing film made in Japan of all time.


Additional Anime Nominations Besides Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc

Anime has also got itself some recognition with the rest of the 2026 Saturn Awards. Solo Leveling Season 2 - Arise from the Shadow has been nominated for Best Animated Series or Event in TV, while Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters was nominated for Best Animated Film.

Chainsaw Man: Reze arc has been announced the nominations will continue to evolve from Season one into the lifespan, so the new film will build off the success of the first season and the fans are thrilled with how the film expands on theme's of the First Season yet still contains the same raw energy which created a cultural phenomenon from the original series/film.


What's Next for Both Films

The Awards Ceremony for the 2026 Saturn Awards will be held on March 8, 2026, at the Universal Hilton in Universal City, CA. Joel McHale will be hosting this event. Chainsaw Man: Reze arc will face strong competition from other internationally acclaimed animated films, such as Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle.

Chainsaw Man: Reze arc and its competitors demonstrate how diverse international Animation is, from action-packed Shonen adaptations to emotionally driven character studies, this category demonstrates that Anime continues to break creative barriers.

Robert Holguin, President of the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, together with 2026 Saturn Awards leaders Bradley and Kevin Marcus, both agreed on how great the nominees this year were, as well as how genre storytelling continues to bring in passionate fans from all types of media.
