Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has reached a point in the story where it seems like the chances for Yuka to survive this battle are next to impossible. Since fans now know what is going to happen in Chapter 20, there has been some confusion surrounding Tsurugi unlocking his Heavenly Restrictions. A fraction of the fandom claims that he managed to achieve this only because Yuka died. It is important to note that they are two separate and distinct events that do not have a correlation with each other.

In their universe, if two siblings are twins, then if one dies, the other one would reach their full potential. We had witnessed this when Mai had passed away, and Maki was able to unlock her special powers to their full potential. Fans believe that Tsurugi was able to reach this level because Yuka died. There is a slight confusion about the relationship between Yuka and Tsurugi; many fans forget that Yuka in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is actually a younger sibling and not a twin.

Yuka’s suspended death and the incomplete ritual

Since the battle between her and Dabura began in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, Yuka's health had already deteriorated. When she jumped into this battle, Mahoraga was summoned. This spin-off series made one rule painfully clear: the ritual does not end until either the target dies or Mahoraga is destroyed. Yuka, already suffering from a terminal brain tumor, was not fully alive in the conventional sense anymore.

She existed in a state of suspended animation. This gives readers some clarity that there is a difference between her dying and living. Currently, according to recent updates, she is most likely in a frozen state like Schrodinger's cat

This explains why Yuka could still fight, still think, still act with clarity despite being on borrowed time. The ritual froze her fate. She wasn’t living; she was postponed. And that postponement had consequences beyond her own body. As long as Yuka remained in that suspended state, the twin bond with Tsurugi remained unbroken.

Mahoraga’s destruction was the trigger in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 20, we saw the second explosion, which is widely believed to be Dabura’s Cursed Technique Reversal, appear to have done more than just damage the battlefield. The theory suggests it destroyed Mahoraga outright. And the moment Mahoraga fell, the ritual ended. Basically, this theory goes as far as to suggest that even if Mahoraga ends up wining will have an impact on her life. Anyway, she did not have a lot of time to live; Yuka might end up dying on the spot the second Mahoraga versus Dabura comes to an end.

If Gege Akutami played around the rules, then her death could be one of the reasons for the creator to consistently reject heroic power-ups. Strength comes from loss, sacrifice, and irreversible decisions. Yuka’s death, being the final key to Tsurugi’s awakening, fits that philosophy perfectly.

Final thoughts

Whether or not Tsurugi's unlocking this Heavenly Restrictions potential is tied to his sister is yet to be confirmed by the creator. Meanwhile, when it comes to talking about Yuka's fate still remains under wraps. Finally, however, Tsurugi in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo managed to get to his full potential. His match with Maru seems like it is going to end soon, especially if he manages to reach the same level of peak Toji or Maki.
