Kaya-chan Isn't Scary puts a new spin on the supernatural anime genre by focusing on a five-year-old girl who fights evil spirits with her bare hands. The story follows a young girl who appears to be a troublemaker to unknowing adults because she can see and hit evil spirits. The adaptation of the manga by Yuritaro through East Fish Studio is unique for mixing horror themes with real-life problems from childhood.
The anime follows a weekly Sunday release pattern on Crunchyroll, with both subtitled and English-dubbed versions available simultaneously. Each 23-minute episode essentially continues the story of Kaya trying to save her classmates from an evil entity. Now, it also adds a new character, the sole teacher who believes in Kaya. The teacher is also the only one who seems to understand Kaya's troubled life.
