Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 Episode 9 gets right into things where we left off with the cliffhanger. Nanahoshi is still lying unconscious and bleeding, and everyone around her is worried about what’s happening to her. Sylphie continues to give her vitality to Nanahoshi to keep her alive and in one piece, while Perugius is busy sending people to search for workable solutions to Nanahoshi’s condition in historical records.

When Nanahoshi wakes up, she finds out she has an ancient disease that cannot be cured and starts grieving the losses she has incurred since coming to this world.

Nanahoshi's Diagnosis Changes Everything

Silveril brings the disappointing news at the opening of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 Episode 9. Nanahoshi has been struck by a condition known as Drain Syndrome, which was first detected around seven thousand years ago. The rise of mana levels throughout the world resulted in the deaths of people unable to cope with such a phenomenon, and Nanahoshi’s body happens to be the same as it was seven millennia ago.

At the same time, there are no cures for this sickness. Perugius is willing to slow down Nanahoshi’s condition via the use of time manipulation, but he states that it would not cure her. It annoys Cliff that Perugius refuses to use his magic to make others help Nanahoshi as soon as possible, creating tension in the discussion.

After everyone else leaves, Nano finally relaxes around Rudeus. She confesses that she has not aged even a day in the eight years she has been here, her hair and nails unchanged as well. She refers to her situation as abnormal and feels as though she is half-dead already.

From anger, she transitions to sorrow as she speaks of having never known love or real intimacy with anybody and yearning to see her parents. She remarks on the fact that Rudeus lost his dad but still manages to smile and asks about how he is able to handle it. This scene gives Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 Episode 9 its emotional core.

Rudeus Commits to Finding a Cure in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 Episode 9

Rudeus cannot ignore what he heard. He walks up to Perugius and tries to ask him how to reach Orsted, but is told there is no point because Orsted had just arrived centuries ago. This leads to Rudeus realizing that the key to solving the issue must lie in the origins of the disease, as it is related to events that occurred around seven thousand years ago.

It is then that Rudeus figures out he should seek out Kishirika Kishirisu, the Great Emperor of the Demon World, as he is someone who lived in that time. He contacts Elinalise, Zanoba, and Cliff and collects them for the trip, saying bye to everyone before heading out with Perugius’ help. This decision sets the direction for the rest of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 Episode 9.

The Demon Continent Search Pays Off

After reaching the Demon Continent, Rudeus and his team come face to face with an old acquaintance called Nokopara, who says she is willing to assist them since Rudeus is associated with Roxy. Various leads about Kishirika are weak if not outright useless, as they eventually trace back to Demon King Badigadi or his sister. Their search soon turns into an exhausting exercise from which no one can benefit.

In the end, however, Kishirika turns out to be a starving, scrawny girl begging for food in the same way as in Rudeus' previous encounter with her. Being grateful for Cliff's assistance, the girl offers the group one wish. It is a satisfying cliffhanger for Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 Episode 9, setting up a major payoff for whatever comes next.
