The Kagurabachi manga is being forced to take a break because of illness. Due to declining health, Takeru Hokazono, the creator of this exciting Sword Action Series from Weekly Shonen Jump, has been unable to continue the production schedule beyond this week.

This is a big change for this series since it is currently midway through its biggest story arc and will be missed this week. The series will return in Issue #26, but one week is certainly a long time to wait for an exciting series like this.

Since it was first published in November 2023, Kagurabachi manga has quickly become one of Shonen Jump's most popular new titles. It follows Chihiro Rokuhira as he embarks on a quest to retrieve six cursed swords that were stolen by a secret group of powerful sorcerers after his family suffered a tragedy. The series has already broken 4 million copies sold as of April 2026. This is very impressive for such a new series.

Kagurabachi manga fans will have a difficult time waiting through this break because the current story arc is considered to be the largest thus far, featuring multiple betrayals, and ultimately will set things up for an epic confrontation between the primary characters. Stopping in the midst of this high-drama moment has left fans craving more!

It's no surprise that this recent health issue for Hokazono has occurred, given how he has been working at a breakneck speed lately. With the release of weekly chapters and because he also had to deliver a Jump cover, create a volume cover, color page, and an illustration to promote the anime based on the manga all at once, he has been pushing himself hard.

Hokazono had already had the same issue happen with the manga before, when he was sick, causing an unexpected one-week delay to the release of the manga, with a report that some pages from chapters on that week actually looked incomplete due to him being so sick. Weekly serialization for Shonen Jump is very demanding, and apparently, Hokazono is feeling the full pressure of that.

In addition, the response from the Kagurabachi manga fan base is extremely positive. Many readers are commenting on social media with messages of encouragement towards the author, as opposed to showing any frustration over the missed chapter. Several fans have also publicly asked Weekly Shonen Jump to reduce the amount of work they expect from Hokazono to ensure that he is as healthy as possible for future releases.

What Fans Can Expect Next

The good news is that this hiatus is only one week long. The Kagurabachi manga is confirmed to resume in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #26, expected to continue the story's current explosive arc. An anime television series adaptation is also in the pipeline, set to premiere in April 2027, giving fans plenty to look forward to beyond the weekly chapters.
