After four quiet years, Skeleton Knight in Another World Season 2 will be delivered in a very different manner than was expected. The journey of Arc through the world of fantasy will not be completed under the same people's hands as previously was the case, due to the first season's production company, Studio KAI, and the animation company's (HORNETS) discontinuation.

The sequel will be produced by Aura Studios and will be released in July 2026. The announcement of the sequel comes from a live-streaming broadcast of the Overlap Bunko All-Star Gathering Special 2026, in addition to a teaser visual of the sequel. However, director Katsumi Ono is still involved in directing the new project even though the original production team has completely changed.

The new production shift from Studio Kai & HORNETS to Aura Studio is a significant step forward for Skeleton Knight in Another World Season 2. This is Aura Studio's first time doing a fully produced anime. Before this shift, they had contributed to various projects as a studio, mainly through the CG and 3D production for Blue Lock, DanMachi Season 4, and Oshi No Ko Season 2.

Many of the key members of the creative team have returned from the first season, including the director, Katsumi Ono, who will direct the sequel after successfully directing Season 1 and a few other recent projects.

Tōru Imanishi, the character designer, is back to keep everything looking right for Skeleton Knight in Another World Season 2. They also have monster designer Yoshihiro Nagamori and sound director Satoshi Motoyama rejoining as well, which should help keep the same visual style as the first season.

Some new people are coming in to fill some roles in the anime project production. For example, Toshizo Nemoto will take over for Takeshi Kikuchi on series composition. Toshizo previously worked on Season 4 for That Time I Was Reborn as a Slime.

Also, Chisa Shibata replaces Hideki Inoue for sub-character design. Jia Fang Lu has stepped in as art director. The following new crew members have also joined the team: Harue Ono (Color Key Artist), Tomotaka Aoki (CGI Director), and Yasuhiro Uema (Animation Producer). With this lineup of both continuing and new people, they should have a pretty good chance of creating something special next season (and hopefully beyond).

Production Timeline

At the end of June 2015, Overlap shared the first light novel volume and illustrations by KeG. A total of ten volumes had been published from that time until the tenth volume was released in March 2022. The manga adaptation is ongoing (started February 2017) by Akira Sawano on Overlap’s Comic Gardo website.

With the Skeleton Knight in Another World Season 2 confirmed to be in development, we can see that development has progressed quite nicely. Production looks to be well underway through Aura Studio with a target release of July 2026.
