Compared to the previous installment, Skeleton Knight in Another World Season 2 Episode 2 is more engaging since it relies on mystery and tension that gives room for Arc to demonstrate his combat skills as well as his relationship with Ariane.

Arc and Ariane arrive at Lamburt Town to a warm welcome from its people. During their time in town, they learn about the Salve trade practiced there. Just as they are about to leave, Lamburt's Lord gets in touch with them, begging for help. His wife has survived an assassination attempt, and he greatly needs to find out who tried to kill her.

Arc agrees to help with the investigation. He begins looking into a short list of suspects, starting with a soldier who works for the household. Next, he questions a poison specialist capable of making a deadly poison, but neither really turns out to be the person responsible for the assassination, thereby forcing Arc to look deeper into the household.

The trail leads Arc towards the father of the Lord, who is filled with hate towards the elves. When Arc sneaks into the Lord's father's room, he finds evidence that suggests that the father has plotted against his own son and his wife. Mercenaries are sent to carry out the plan after that, but Arc saves the day.

But in reality, he discovers that the real villain of the story is another maid who works in the Lord's household. She uses chaos to lure the Lord's wife with poison ready for the plot. However, those two manage to stop the maid in time.

The visuals in this episode are consistent and clear throughout the episode. The character expressions are particularly good in the tense situation scenes, especially Ariane's witty responses when she realizes that the maid is plotting something. The attack scene with the mercenaries also benefits from smooth animation and well-executed staging. Crunchyroll's stream preserves this detail nicely, with no noticeable drop in quality during the faster action beats.

Sound design plays a strong supporting role. During the investigation scenes, the background noises are quiet and suspicious, but later the sharper and more urgent music accompanies the ambush and poisoning. This change in music emphasizes the fact that the danger is coming.

The revelation about the father’s involvement is rather unexpected; furthermore, the maid’s betrayal is also interesting. The cliffhanger with Danka’s message provides a good ending for the episode.
