The Ramparts of Ice Episode 2 is coming soon! The psychological coming-of-age drama premiered on Netflix on April 2, 2026, and quickly established its presence through depictions of social isolation experienced within high school and how prolonged bullying creates emotional armor. Now that we have begun following along with Koyuki Hikawa, we’re excited to see where this journey leads.

Melissa and Aoi will continue to develop, their paths crossing more frequently as Koyuki and Minato become even less able to avoid each other. The Ramparts of Ice Episode 2 comes to Netflix on April 9, 2026, one week after the premiere of Ramparts of Ice.

The Ramparts of Ice Episode 2 is supposed to make Koyuki's social world a lot clearer. The walls were built in Episode 1, and Episode 2 will test how well they have been built.

Minato Amamiya's approach to Koyuki has always been slow and steady (and will continue to be). His ongoing attempts to get closer to her may create more subtle tension, the kind that delicately chisels away at Koyuki's attempts to keep her distance; it will happen without ever letting anyone know that it has happened.

The male characters, Minato and Yota Hino, were only briefly introduced in Episode 1. The Ramparts of Ice Episode 2 is likely to give both more room to develop. Yota, in particular, remains an unknown quantity. His personality and his role within the group have not yet been meaningfully explored.

The pacing will continue to feel slow with the same long stretches of silence, tiny gestures, and careful looks that convey huge amounts of emotion. Like the first episode, there will be no payoff in The Ramparts of Ice Episode 2 as tension builds rather than levels out.

Koyuki Hikawa is a middle schooler who was bullied constantly by everyone around her. She was bullied because of her height, was not included in social situations, and she suffered from constant bullying. When she entered Meiten High School, she had developed her entire identity from this bad experience. The kids at her school called her "the Ice Queen."

Anna Nagase plays the part of Koyuki, narrating with great restraint. Koyuki walks down the halls of her school with little interaction with others. Koyuki is not a cold person; she is just worn out by the work required to interact socially with other people.

Minato Amamiya's character (the only one not to see Koyuki's silence as a signal) was introduced in this episode and is curious enough to approach her while others avoid her. Their relationship doesn’t contain much of the typical rom-com chemistry, is slower, has an incredible amount of uncertainty, and is extremely emotionally honest compared to the average.

Miki Azumi (who is Koyuki's only close friend), was also a major player in this episode. While she is socially comfortable, it became evident that Miki is also under pressure socially. The coincidence of Miki and Koyuki's circumstances created a lot more emotional depth to the premiere than is usually seen in school dramas. The Ramparts of Ice Episode 2 needs to carry that emotional weight forward, and based on what the first episode built, it is positioned to do exactly that.
