Togashi might be bringing Hunter X Hunter back sooner than everyone had thought after much anticipation. His two consecutive postings on his X account this week have the fan base in a frenzy, and for once, the enthusiasm appears completely justified.

Here's everything you need to know.

The Latest Hunter X Hunter News from Togashi

On February 16 at 9:34 PM, Togashi posted an image of Kite, one of the most well-known characters from Hunter X Hunter. There was a voice bubble in the picture that said, "No. 428." Less than twenty-four hours later, on February 17, at 4:06 PM, he made another post. This time, the caption said, "No.419 manuscript completed."

The second post is important. A chapter that is finished and fully illustrated is referred to as a finished manuscript. Not a crude sketch, not a plan. Everything. In addition, Togashi appears to be planning future chapters while finishing the current work, as evidenced by the Kite picture with "No. 428" in the speech bubble.

The fact that Kite was selected for that teaser is also intriguing. Posting that character seems almost intentional (a subtle clue to the possible path of the plot) because Kite is linked to some of Hunter X Hunter's most moving moments. It has been analysed by fans ever since it was posted.

When these two posts are combined, they show a creative who is working on Hunter X Hunter and making real progress.

What We Know About the Hunter X Hunter Hiatus

To understand why this is such a big deal, a little context is helpful. Hunter X Hunter took a hiatus after chapter 410 was published in December 2024. This wasn't the first time, as readers who have been following Togashi's work for a long time know that hiatus has now practically become a part of the series' nature. That doesn't, however, make waiting any easier.

Since then, fans have been closely monitoring Togashi's X account in the hopes of seeing any new information.

He has also been delivering. Back in October, Togashi shared a hopeful update that provoked discussion within the community. He then declared that on January 14, the manuscript for chapter 414 was completed. That was already encouraging enough. But it's clear that Togashi has been quite busy now that chapter 419 has been formally proclaimed finished.

The manga usually comes back in groups of around ten chapters at a time. Given that 419 is now finished and 428 looks to be on the horizon, fans may be expecting not one, but two batches of chapters to be released in 2026.

Why Fans Should Be Excited but Patient

To be honest, the Hunter X Hunter community deserves a little celebration, and it's easy to be swept up in the frenzy. But it's also critical to remember the initial cause of Togashi's inconsistent release schedule.

The life of a manga artist is difficult. Workload, deadline strain, and the stress of weekly serialization all have a major detrimental effect. Togashi's openness about his health concerns throughout the years is something that fans should appreciate. He didn't have to reveal any of this. The fact that he still posts updates and shows up on X says something about his dedication to the franchise and its supporters.

Conclusion

Get excited. But give Togashi the space to do this anyway he pleases. Each completed manuscript is a triumph. As of right now, chapter 419 is complete, and chapter 428 is completely planned, so things are going really well.

It's possible that Hunter X Hunter will return sooner rather than later. And Togashi is leading and picking up speed, if this week's posts are any guide.
