Witch Hat Atelier Episode 7: Coco Gets Trapped, Agott Finally Breaks, and the Knights Moralis Show Up

Witch Hat Atelier episode 7 continues where the previous episode ended, and things are already in disarray. A landslide next to the river has destroyed a caravan of merchants. Supplies are being washed away, wagons are overturned, and civilians are frantically attempting to retrieve their loved ones and possessions.

The apprentices are brought along to assist where they can while Qifrey and Olruggio take command of the rescue. However, the disaster is not the only topic of Witch Hat Atelier episode 7. It is about the things that everyone must deal with as a result of the calamity, including those things they would prefer not to deal with.

Witch Hat Atelier Episode 7: The Calm After the Storm

Olruggio and Agott followed the man who came to the atelier on horseback. They went ahead to set up the Windowway exit at the site. That way, Qifrey and the others can prepare what they need and just spawn at the site of the wreckage, and time is not wasted.

When they got there in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7, Olruggio gave Agott magic contraptions and told her to help the civilians dry their clothes. Seems that she was expecting more, but that was not the case. He gives her a little speech about being impatient and waiting for the proper setting. He ends his talk by telling her to think about what magic is for. Agott despises it all. She views this catastrophe as an opportunity to demonstrate her abilities, and she finds it offensive to be given small assignments.

She is feeling treated like a child, and she does not like it. To her, she works harder than anyone else, but without anything to show for it, it means nothing. Agott thinks to herself that she has to hurry up and prove to "that person" that she is a worthy witch. Qifrey, Tetia, Richeh, and Coco arrive through the Windowway, and the rescue mission starts. Olruggio jumps onto the carriage that has people trapped in it and calls out to Qifrey.

Qifrey then takes out the Raincleaver.

When he activates the sword, which has magical inscriptions all over it, he can actually carve through the water. In a stunning demonstration of power and control in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7, he chops open the water rather than pushing it aside. This scene has an almost mythological quality due to its direction. The civilians around are in awe at seeing Qifrey work. There were two people in the carriage, and Olruggio took them all to safety. Safe to say that the rescue mission was a success.

Back on land, Dagda, the man who came to the atelier, and Custas reunite. They thanked Qifrey and Olruggio for their help. Qifrey directs them to his apprentices in case any of them were injured as they came with medicine. But the apprentices were not where Qifrey thought they would be. Instead, they were surrounding the Raincleaver that Qifrey had just used.

Agott, Tetia, and Richeh are so excited, and even Agott can't contain her admiration for the sword in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7. Magic tools can apparently be weaponized, inscriptions can be embedded into objects, and experienced witches operate on a completely different level from apprentices. Qifrey says that the many tiny seals on the sword make it strong enough to even carve a path through the ocean. He then tells them that magic cast in weapons requires immense caution. The most hilarious thing is that, despite Qifrey's constant complaints about how much he despises water, all of his techniques so far involve the element.

Olruggio appears and says that he wants to check upriver to be sure that there is no problem. Qifrey says he'd take the downriver and takes Tetia along. Olruggio goes with Richeh. Before leaving in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7, they tell Coco and Agott to stay with their items. In that time, Agott and Coco help treat the villagers and dry them off. The entire mood was awkward between Coco and Agott. Coco thinks to herself as she is bandaging someone that she has to fix Agott's Sylph Shoes as soon as possible.

After finishing bandaging the person she was treating in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7, the patient thanked her and called her "Little Miss Witch." It is insignificant to everyone else. It meant the world to Coco. Since the beginning, she has been secretly questioning if she actually belongs in the magical realm, and that small acknowledgment has a greater impact on her than any spell could.

Witch Hat Atelier Episode 7: Coco Rushes In and Gets Trapped

So, it turns out that about half the cargo was lost to the flood. And then, Custas makes the worst choice imaginable in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7, just when things appear to be settling down. When the youngster who was previously rescued discovers that some of his father's belongings are still stuck close to the collapsing ravine, he sneaks back in to retrieve them. He tied a rope to a tree close by and lowered himself down. The ground remains shaky. Nearly immediately after, there is another collapse, burying Custas under rubble once more, this time near rising floodwaters.

When Coco saw the tree falling, she appeared to jump towards it and was ultimately trapped near the bank. This scene in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7 is more significant than it initially appears. In order to help his family get back some of what they lost, Custas is putting himself in danger. Coco, back at the start of the series, got involved with forbidden magic for the exact same reason: trying to help her mother. Even when it puts them in actual danger, they both act out of love and desperation.

And from the rising dust caused by the falling of the rocks, Agott hears Coco calling out to her. And when the smoke cleared, all we saw was Coco's cap. And Agott looked terrified for a second before Coco called out to her again and found her. Dagda went into a panic attack, and understandably so, but then he realized that he had a witch right with him. With a look of intense desperation, he asked Agott to save him again.

Then something snapped in Agott in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7. This is her chance. No master was around, and the situation is desperate. There would be no other opportunity like this again for her. She sort of lets out an evil-looking smile, which is a little concerning about her character.

Then one of the civilians approached Agott and snapped her back to reality by asking if she would be casting a spell.

Witch Hat Atelier episode 7: Agott's Breakdown and the Rescue

While Coco is trapped below, Witch Hat Atelier episode 7 finally pulls back the curtain on Agott. Through a series of flashbacks, the episode delves into her early years, and what it reveals fundamentally alters everything about her. Agott comes from an elite magical family, and her mom is a very skilled witch. And for years, despite working extremely hard, Agott was criticized for falling short of expectations. She consistently challenged herself to do better, but the adults around her made her feel insignificant and unworthy.

They called her average, said she lacks talent, and even questioned if she was practicing. And it seems that she was cast out of her family. Then Coco appears, a person who almost unintentionally became an apprentice and who possesses an innate inventiveness that Agott worked for years to develop. That bitterness towards Coco now makes perfect sense. It was never really about Coco. It was about everything Agott felt she had to sacrifice just to be seen as good enough.

Then Coco shouting her name in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7 snaps Agott back to reality. She asks if there is anything she can do from down there. And in that moment, she remembers what Olruggio said to her about what magic is for. Then Agott asks Coco for the full situation down there.

Coco is in a gap in the bank, and the current is slower there. But the area is muddy and slippery, so she can't seem to get up. Custas is unconscious and pinned by a massive rock. To make matters worse, in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7, her bag that contains her ink and paper has all been drenched.

Agott looks at Coco and thinks about how she has not given up yet despite the gloomy situation. Coco then asks Agott for Olruggio's Link Rings. With that, she can dry the paper and help. She thinks of using the levitation spell that she used to cook the carapace yams the other time to lift the boulder and save Custas.

The rescue effort gets underway quickly, but a problem arises right away. Witches are unable to reveal the concept of drawing spells to the general public. Each spell must be covered by distractions, concealed by cloaks, or disguised by movement. Here, the episode makes a perfect analogy between witches and stage magicians. Their big, flowing cloaks serve many purposes other than merely fashion. They contribute to the concealment of magic.

Although it is a minor worldbuilding detail in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7, it greatly enhances the magic system's sense of realism and groundedness. It also explains why Agott was practicing with her eyes closed. They have to get used to drawing spells based on muscle memory because in the real world, they would have to hide their drawings.

When Coco gets to Custas, things start to get really scary. Every escape path is blocked by rubble, the water is rising quickly, and the cliffs above them seem like they could collapse at any moment. Furthermore, unlike Qifrey, Coco is unable to use sophisticated magic to solve the issue. She needs to come up with an alternative, and she needs to do so without revealing to Custas how spells truly function.

In Witch Hat Atelier episode 7, to divert the attention of the onlookers, Agott makes a huge bird out of light in the sky. It provides Coco just the perfect amount of cover and is both lovely and distracting. Then Coco takes action that has been subtly hinted at throughout the show. She doesn't acquire a random boost or summon a new power. She blends methods from all she has learned thus far, including the rock-breaking spell from previous episodes and levitation glyphs. It is earned, practical, and imaginative. She frees the two of them by shattering the boulder that was binding Custas and floats up.

Agott then goes to see how Coco is doing. She continues to clumsily deny any concern, but her behavior suggests otherwise. She showed genuine respect for Coco for the first time in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7.

Witch Hat Atelier Episode 7: The Knights Moralis Enter

Everything collapses just as the episode seems to be coming to an end.

While Coco and Agott were trying to save Custas in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7, we got a shot of an underwater room. Someone approached another person named Easthies and reported an incident from the outskirts of Kalhn in which a huge pillar of water was seen in the Marshwoods upriver. Without deliberating, Easthies said to move out.

All of a sudden, in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7, white ribbons wrap around Coco and Agott, and they are raised into the sky. Agoot realizes what is happening. The Silverwhite Capture Pennants, scarlet cloaks, and winged caps. These are the law enforcers of the witches' world.

The Knights Moralis have appeared.

Turns out that Coco's rock-breaking magic in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7 begins to spread in an incomprehensible manner. It no longer only affects the boulder. The surrounding landscape had crumbled into sand. A portion of the river had also started to vaporize. The scope of it is horrifying, and neither Agott nor Coco understands what's going on or why.

Their time in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7 feels more like an interrogation than a rescue. They seize control of the situation right away and charge Coco with using magic that is prohibited. For them, the logic is straightforward: since an apprentice shouldn't be able to wreak such destruction, there must be a problem with her. The fact that so little serious research takes place is unsettling. Before concluding that Coco's memories must be deleted right now, they barely asked any questions.

One of the spookiest things the anime has revealed thus far is the memory erase spell. The spell in Witch Hat Atelier episode 7 is hideous rather than neat or refined like regular magic. Tiny crawling hands emerge from the glyph and reach toward Coco's face and eyes. The imagery is unsettling and purposefully intrusive. Agott is terrified. Coco is scared. Additionally, the Knights handle the entire situation as standard paperwork.

Coco is just seconds away from losing everything as Witch Hat Atelier episode 7 comes to a close. Her dream of helping her mother, her connection with Agott, and her memories of magic. There is nothing she can do to stop it from being stolen from her. Qifrey has to show up. Now!
