The Weight is Over: Martha Byrne's comedy series to debut online

Excitement hasn't thinned since the original announcement that Martha Byrne (ex-Lily Snyder/Rose D'Angelo, As the World Turns) would be starring in a comedy series titled Weight, and it's about to go through the roof. The humorous show is making its online debut next month.

Three-time Emmy winner Martha Byrne (ex-Lily Snyder/Rose D'Angelo, As the World Turns) will be showing fans a whole new set of skills with the release of her comedic series, Weight, which makes its online debut on Sunday, August 2.

From the minds of Byrne and Writers Guild Award nominee Daryn Strauss, the scripted series stars Byrne as Claire, a middle class mom who returns home from a reality weight loss competition 100 pounds lighter, only to find she's gained some extra baggage due to the complicated reactions of her dysfunctional family and friends. Byrne, a mother of three, has first-hand experience dealing with the expectations of Hollywood and the absurdities of life on camera, making Claire's struggles balancing mommyhood and reality show fame/infamy believable, funny, and relatable.

The series also stars Allison Smith, best known as Mallory O'Brien on The West Wing and Jane Curtin's daughter Jennie on Kate & Allie; Bradley White, most recently seen on ABC's Revenge and Showtime's Masters of Sex; Peyton Ella, who made her TV debut as the youngest Von Trapp in The Sound of Music Live with Carrie Underwood on NBC; Kate West, daughter of three-time Emmy Winner Maura West (Ava Jerome, General Hospital); and Scott DeFreitas, with special guest stars Trent Dawson (Henry Coleman, As The World Turns, Homeland), Dee Freeman (The Hughleys), and Maitely Weismann (Masters of Sex).

To catch the pilot episode of Weight, check out www.weighttheseries.com on Sunday, August 2, at 8PM EST.

Viewers can join the show's "Virtual Reality Party" with Byrne, other members of the cast, and surprise visitors by using the hashtag #weightcrazy on Twitter and by following @weighttheseries, starting at 7PM EST, August 2nd.
