The current storyline of The Bold and the Beautiful seems to be baiting a seasoned but transformed villain, Sheila Carter, played by Kimberlin Brown. Sheila started her journey in Genoa City, on the sister soap The Young and the Restless, and fled to LA to join the team at B&B. She left behind a saga of craziness and chaos in Y&R.

After causing much mayhem in LA, Sheila settled into love and matrimony with Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan). Joining her husband’s restaurant business transformed Sheila from a career criminal into a tame businesswoman. With Deacon currently cheating on her with Taylor, fans wonder whether Sheila’s dark side will reemerge.

5 ways an evil Sheila can spice up The Bold and the Beautiful

1) She can add to high-stakes drama

Longtime fans of The Bold and the Beautiful know Sheila’s onscreen presence adds much drama to the show’s storylines. Since the current plot revolves around her husband’s cheating with Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig), a betrayed Sheila will likely retaliate against both Deacon and Taylor.

While a love triangle spices up a boring storyline, Taylor, who has been in a triangle with Brooke and Ridge for decades, finds herself pitted against a former criminal, which intensifies the drama. Her daughter, Steffy’s, reaction to the Deacon-Taylor romance clearly states the danger Sheila presents.

2) She can reclaim her crown of unmatched villain

Sheila Carter is a classic villain on The Bold and the Beautiful and is quite different from many soap villains. Over the years, fans have seen her threaten and then back down, making her a credible antagonist. Moreover, Sheila has a huge repertoire of crimes up her sleeve, from kidnapping and using trained dogs to shooting and attempting murders.

Sheila’s recent transformation may bring some relief to LA residents, but it may seem lame for B&B fans. As such, the soap writers may want to bring back the true mistress of evil by resurrecting the original Sheila.

3) The return of Sheila’s madness offers revenge potential

As mentioned before, Deacon and Taylor are having a clandestine affair. While it is unethical on Taylor’s side, Deacon is unable to resist the smart and normal woman, as she is the opposite of his current, criminal wife. Since Sheila left the criminal world and transformed herself for Deacon’s sake, the latter’s betrayal will call for a strong revenge.

As longtime viewers already know, the criminal version of Sheila was capable of a level of craziness that made her dangerous, reckless, and ruthless. With Sheila’s new world tumbling down, she may turn on her wicked alter ego and don her mantle of madness again.

4) She may introduce a twist to Steffy-Finn dynamics

As Finn’s biological mother, Sheila has tried hard to reconnect with her son for years. For that, she took crazy options like trying to shoot her daughter-in-law, Steffy (Jacqueline McInnes Wood), dead. However, the transformed version of Sheila saved the same Steffy from Luna’s attack.

However, with Taylor’s involvement with Deacon, there will be fresh enmity between Deacon’s betrayed wife and Taylor’s daughter. This complication could create tension between Steffy and Finn and threaten their calm marital life. With Sheila’s evil turn, the stale dynamics in the Forrester-Finnegan household could see new twists.

5) She will entertain fans with great acting skills

Longtime fans of Kimberlin Brown enjoyed Sheila’s crazy-villain persona and would like to see her return. In comparison, they found the transformed Sheila a let-down on the dramatic quotient. Moreover, many fans prefer the relentless, open danger from Sheila over the hovering threat posed by a complex character.

The return of Sheila’s hot-headed, volatile villainy will be readily accepted by viewers who may not appreciate the nuances of a grey character in a soap.

5 reasons Sheila should keep status quo on The Bold and the Beautiful

1) This offers a genuine transformation story arc

For viewers who love redemption and indisputable changes in a person, Sheila’s saga of self-improvement for love and matrimonial stability was a welcome arc. This also celebrated the cliched but well-loved plot about the power of true love. While demonstrating the traits of a flawed character, such as protecting her criminal granddaughter, Sheila nevertheless honestly tried to be a good wife and stepmother.

As such, Sheila’s return to the dark side will disappoint fans who appreciated her redemption storyline. Moreover, she paid for her crimes, and her evil run must stop there. On one hand, this complex character may be refreshing, while on the other, it leaves a sense of enigma, making Sheila’s onscreen presence more interesting.

2) She can avoid a predictable storyline

As fans know, Sheila has yet to find out about her husband cheating on her with his psychiatrist, someone Sheila trusts and appreciates. When she does find out, Steffy fears the dangerous repercussions she warned her mother about. For decades, Sheila has been known for her craziness and unbound, vile actions.

Sheila’s transformation was a surprise and left fans intrigued. However, resorting to relentless evil and violent actions will likely make her arc predictable. Leaving Sheila a calmer, less violent person will avoid this obviousness in her actions. That may also leave room for writers to help Sheila take revenge in another way.

3) She may display improved twists and relationship dynamics

While it is understandable that Sheila may want to turn violent for revenge, maintaining her new calmer persona may help Sheila achieve more meaningful relationships. Those bonds could include a genuine bond with her biological son, Finn (Tanner Novlan), and her grandson, Hayes. Both are relationships she has been craving for.

Moreover, Sheila found a new friendship with Finn’s adoptive mother, Li Nozawa (Naomi Matsuda), which she can continue to cherish. She may also earn Steffy’s respect and love if she avoids violent revenge.

4) This leaves a grey area for character development

While Sheila has changed personas, the criminal inside her remains. Since people know she is capable of violent crimes, her calm personality adds a touch of grey, making her character more interesting. Moreover, leaving shades of grey keeps viewers on the edge, adding intrigue.

Sheila's softer, more responsible side, evident in her running Il Giardino and in her good rapport with the staff, opens new avenues for character development. The writers can choose to provide a better evolved storyline for the former evil character.

5) She can offer novel conflict arcs

While Sheila’s transformation may bury her violent and crazy actions, it may not wipe out her natural human emotions, including feeling hurt. However, her desire for revenge will likely take a new direction. As such, the new Sheila may show how revenge can be calculated and smart instead of wild and action-heavy.

The mature Sheila may consider revenge through wiser, legal means, such as reporting Taylor’s unethical love affair to the medical board or a hostile takeover of Deacon’s business, leaving him bankrupt. If she is given a shrewder revenge arc, Sheila’s transformation will have more meaning.
