Steffy: B&B Recap September 23: Finn Refuses to Let Steffy Be a Surrogate

Finn is willing to do anything for Steffy to make up for messing things up in Monaco, but he’s drawing a line on The Bold and Beautiful. He doesn't think that his wife being a surrogate for their pals, Daphne Rose and Carter, is a good idea. The recap for the Wednesday, September 23, episode has that development, and also Daphne Rose getting ahead of herself while Deacon and Taylor debate.

“Honey, I’ve Got an Idea…”

Steffy told Finn that it’s been hard on Daphne because she can’t conceive a baby. Finn acknowledged the pain she must be feeling, but he asked his wife what that had to do with her. Steffy said that she wanted to give Daphne and Carter the ultimate gift – one of her eggs. Finn’s immediate response was to ask his wife if she was kidding.

Finn suggested there were several other women out there who could act as a baby surrogate for Carter and Steffy. Finn couldn’t wrap his head around the idea of Steffy giving another couple her child. Finn said that Carter and Daphne could meet a different surrogate and get to know her before committing. He said, "I know you want to help, honey, but this is next level."

Finn asked Steffy if she felt guilty that Daphne couldn’t have a baby, and Steffy could. Finn wanted to know why his wife was bringing this up when he was about to leave for a medical conference. He wanted to know why there was such urgency.

Finn pointed out that they have busy lives with their children, Kelly and Hayes. Finn noted it would be very confusing to Kelly and Hayes for them to know that they had a half-sibling out there. Finn called Steffy a "Superwoman," who could do it all. However, donating a frozen egg and then giving birth to another man’s child would be too much. Finn told his wife that she couldn't do this. It would be too much.

Finn asked Steffy if this was why she was acting so differently. “If only you knew,” Steffy said, giving the line a double meaning. Finn called his wife selfless and honorable, and said that her wanting to help Carter and Daphne Rose made him love her more. But he said that they’ll have to find someone more appropriate.

Finn wished that he didn’t have to leave, especially since his and Steffy's time in Monaco was cut short. Finn said that he didn’t have to go to the medical seminar. Steffy urged him to go. Finn said his marriage to Steffy was the most important thing in the world.

Steffy told Finn that she loved him and asked him not to forget that. He said that he would never question that. He kissed his wife on the forehead and then walked out the front door with his luggage. Steffy looked at the photos of her family on the wall. She held her stomach and recalled Carter asking her to be the surrogate.

Shopping for Baby Fashions

At Forrester Creations, Carter flashed back to waking up in the office with Steffy after they’d made love. Then, Daphne Rose entered, excited about becoming a parent. Carter went to close the door after Daphne showed him some baby clothes that she bought in anticipation of Steffy giving them a baby.

Daphne Rose said that nothing would make her happier than if Steffy carried their baby. She wanted the woman who brought their child into the world to be someone whom she knew and respected. "There’s no one I trust and respect more than Steffy," Daphne declared.

Then, Daphne Rose said that Steffy and Carter must have a great friendship for her to want to be their surrogate. Daphne said having this glimmer of hope was priceless.

Daphen went on to say that a baby from Carter and Steffy would be the next best thing to having one of their own. Carter said it made sense now. He pointed out that she was there when their relationship started, so it’s only fitting that she give us a baby.

Carter knew that a baby from Steffy would put a smile on his wife’s face. Daphne Rose asked if it was truly going to happen. Carter said that they would be parents before they knew it. (That's for sure!)

Oh, Sheila

Taylor sneaked up on Deacon at Bikini, surprising him. She asked if she was expecting anyone else. Deacon said that he was happy to see her, but he thought she might have been Sheila. Taylor was surprised to hear Sheila's name.

Deacon told Taylor her timing was impeccable, as Sheila had been there earlier. Taylor quipped she was grateful for LA traffic. Deacon said Sheila just needed to get out and see people. Taylor noted that Sheila missed Deacon. He said that she also missed Finn.

Deacon recapped part of his meeting with Sheila to Taylor. Deacon pointed out that Sheila missed her son. Taylor said Sheila was the reason that Steffy was traumatized. Taylor recounted Steffy and Finn being in Monaco, reliving their happy reunion, and then Steffy saw that foot! That foot of Sheila's that had only three toes on it! Taylor said that Steffy threw her rings at Finn. Deacon said, at least, there were no lasting repercussions.

Deacon suggested that Sheila following Finn to Monaco wasn’t the worst thing Sheila had ever done. Taylor asked Ridge and Finn if they had noticed anything different about Steffy. Taylor was certain that whatever Steffy was struggling with was taking up space inside her.
