Two Scoops: Don't Call Her Shirley, Dylan Emerges as a Modern-Day Brooke Logan: B&B Two Scoops for the Week of July 13

The Bold and the Beautiful squeezed a lot of drama, humor, and intrigue this past week for characters of all generations. What caught our eye is how Sydney Bullock's Dylan is emerging as a modern-day version of Brooke Logan -- with Will Spencer being her, wait for it, "destiny!"

Playing the Long Game

Dylan living platonically (albeit a smidge flirtatiously) with Will Spencer didn't warrant Electra freaking out the way she did over the arrangement. After all, wouldn't Electra support finding a place for her pal to live so she wouldn't be homeless? In fairness, Electra didn't know that her aunt Ivy had been working against Will, and the deepfake photos (posted by Remy) did some long-term psychological damage.

Still, Dylan moved out, and she asked Electra for forgiveness. She even fessed up that Remy was her cousin. Dylan's been honest and has kept her distance from Will. However, Electra and Will split after he once again felt compelled to hit RJ, and Electra felt Will had betrayed her as part of the ongoing Forrester Creations/Logan Designs wars.

Will's door was literally open (or at least, ajar), allowing Dylan to visit Will at his beach house. Dylan was candid with Will about her feelings and her observations that Electra isn't the right woman for Will.

Dylan goes for what she wants, and she's honest about her feelings. She reminds us a lot of Brooke back when she first premiered. Brooke wanted Ridge, just as Dylan wants Will. Also, there's a "Caroline" in the mix, if you will, in the form of Electra. Will may care for Electra, but is she the right woman for him?

Eventually, Ridge chose Caroline, yes, but his longest relationship in life in terms of a romantic love interest has been with Brooke. Dylan hasn't done anything wrong, and her pal at Bikini was right -- if Dylan doesn't go for Will, then someone else certainly will!

When she was at Will's, Dylan wisely wrapped things up after giving Will some things to think about. She didn't risk him asking her to leave; she chose to end her visit. Beyond needing to get back to Bikini, where she works, Dylan showed that she was in the power position by choosing to end her time with Will.

If RJ is successful in wooing Electra away from Will, Dylan could move in for the kill, er, Will. Of course, it's far from over between Will and Electra. She was heartbroken to give him up at the urging of her family, and despondent over not being able to jump in on his call when he was leaving a message for her.

We can't wait to see Dylan cross paths with Katie. While there's only one Stephanie, we know that Katie will size up Dylan, and if she thinks that she's not the right woman for her son, well, Dylan's going to have a tough time becoming Mrs. Will Spencer!

The Hardest Year

They say the toughest year of marriage is the first one. That's certainly what Carter and Daphne Rose are finding out. As painful as it was to see Carter lose out in love with Zoe, Paris, Quinn, and Katie, we were comforted by the fact that, on soaps, marriage often means "death" (AKA no storyline). Fortunately, that's not the case for Carter and Daphne Rose. She's learned that she can't have children due to early menopause.

Carter's not the type of guy who'd leave someone over something like that, we suspect. Will they investigate surrogacy? Adoption? Was Steffy, who gets the Friend of the Week Award for standing by Daphne Rose, mentioning that she had some unused eggs, planting a seed that will sprout later?

Inside Joke, Surely

Will tying one on at Bikini led to him calling Shelly by the name "Sharon," a likely nod to Will's portrayer's (Crew Morrow) real-life father, Joshua Morrow (Nick, The Young and the Restless), and his leading lady of many years, Sharon Case, who plays Sharon. Sorry, Shelly. Will has eyes only for Electra still. And perhaps, Dylan.

Crew Morrow's mannerisms and voice (not to mention his abs) show that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Hearing Crew's Will say the name "Sharon" made him sound like his dad more than ever!

Oh, Sheila

Kimberlin Brown's Sheila continues to deliver new shades as the soap opera genre's most popular villainess. Sheila's been around for 36 years, and she's still looking for what she's always been searching for -- family and love.

The setup is pretty great so far. Finn is vulnerable to his birth mother. Yep, she shot him. But he's still a guy who doesn't want to see his biological mom be unhappy. Conversely, Steffy, the indomitable namesake of Sheila's nemesis, Stephanie, has drawn a hard line in the sand. She understands Finn's point of view, but he feels he's being manipulated.

Watching Sheila in the dark across town as she hoped for a different outcome has us thinking that the naughty nurse is just going to snap at some point! Sheila's simmering, and there's no telling what she'll do once she learns that she may not get what she wants!

I Will Be Your Grandfather Figure

Eric's devotion to Electra is admirable. And, as B&B is a soap opera, we can't help but wonder if there might be more to it. Could Eric have had an affair with Electra's mom years ago? Or is it just as simple as Eric and his brother John were close, and John was Electra's grandfather, so Eric is taking on that role?

There's plenty of drama going on with the Forresters, Spencers, Sheila, and their friends and foes right now. But we're not opposed to even more shocking twists!

What's next is anyone's guess, but we expect to see Dylan making calculated moves while some marriages will face uncertain futures!
