We're a little more than halfway through the week, and The Bold and the Beautiful, a half-hour soap, is serving up enough drama to fill an hour-long show! Two stories in particular are catching our eye this week!
Seperate Lives
Deacon (Sean Kanan) and Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) arguably had the most successful union on B&B. Why? They understood each other and accepted each other, despite past mistakes.
Deacon's wicked ways never quite matched Sheila's rampage of terror, but they both lived outside certain moralities. (When are we going to see Deacon pop over to B&B and reconnect with Diane, now Susan Walters, whose death he helped fake?)
On B&B, Deacon slept with Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), the mother of his estranged wife, Bridget (Ashley Jones), and made a baby, Hope (Annika Noelle), who, in many ways, has been Deacon's redemption.
Sheila, who managed to evade the law as if she had Perry Mason, Matlock (both of them), and the cast of L.A. Law, representing her in court, found what she was always looking for in Deacon -- someone who'd love her.
Despite their marriage ending, we've gotten the impression this week that the guy still kinda does love her. Sheila dropped by Bikini before it opened and reconnected with her ex. Any other ex-mate might have chastised his ex over Sheila going to Monaco and getting caught by Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood).
Instead, Deacon and Sheila shared a laugh on how she was busted after Steffy caught Sheila's distinct 8-toed feet sticking out from under a blanket! It is so rare to find someone in life with whom you can laugh even in serious moments, and Deacon and Sheila had that.
No, make that have that! Plus, Sheila was genuinely sympathetic to Deacon after he confided in her that Taylor (Rebecca Budig) turned his marriage proposal down! Most ex-wives would have done the Bobbi Adler "told ya" dance, or started screaming, "the ball is in the air!" in terms of a reunion. Sheila, however, felt for Deacon. She still loves him and wants him to be happy.
Maybe she really has changed? Kudos to Kanan and Brown for choosing to play Deacon and Sheila's genuine feelings of fondness and love for one another. They may be divorced, but the love triangle with Taylor may not be over...hmmm....
Hurricane Katie
The dynamic between a son's mother and the young woman who wants to be in that young man's life has been a B&B staple since the series inception. Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) was determined to win Ridge Forrester's (Thorsten Kaye) heart and become his "destiny."
Just as Dylan (Sydney Bullock) read about the Spencer family in Eye on Fashion, Brooke followed the society pages in newspapers to learn about Ridge and his playboy ways.
She visited a vulnerable Caroline (Joanna Johnson) after she landed in the hospital, following her fainting spell at her wedding to Ridge. She had found out just before the ceremony that he had been unfaithful to her, and couldn't handle it.
Back then, Brooke decided on some level that she was the woman for Ridge, and no one else. She moved in on Ridge after Caroline turned to Thorne. Stephanie (Susan Flannery) saw right through Brooke, and their antagonistic dynamic was on!
Sound familiar? Now, we have Dylan "moving in on" (that's not how Dylan sees it, and it's not how it really is, sorry, Electra) Will (Crew Morrow) now that he and Electra (Laneya Grace) have split up, and she's turned to RJ (Brayan Nicoletti).
There are more parallels, but not everything is played out the same way. Stephanie only berated Brooke in private. She didn't overplay her hand with Ridge. Katie, however, doesn't give a hoot that Will is present when she goes after Dylan, as she has determined that this young lady is not the man for her son!

Katie snarls Dylan's true name as her -- "Melissa" -- and refers to her as "this!" as if she were a creature from outer space! Dylan is taking a page right from Brooke's "I'd give anything if we could be friends, Mrs.Forrester" playbook.
Of course, that didn't really work for Brooke, and we don't see it work for Dylan. We can't wait to see how the arrival of Darcy Dylan (Kelly Sullivan), Dylan's mom, helps create even more conflict in Dylan and Katie's relationship!
