"After a challenging six days," he posted on Instagram, "including spinal surgery to eradicate a blood infection, I’m leaving the hospital. Thanks to the incredible Doctors and staff @provsaintjohns Life is precious."Kanan kept his procedure private, at least from some of his co-stars, who chimed in with responses to the actor's post, which shared his medical update. "Damn!! I hope all is well 🙏," posted Kimberlin Brown, who plays Deacon's now ex-wife, Sheila. Added co-star Darin Brooks (Wyatt): "Dude, what?!? 🙌🙌👏👏💪💪❤️❤️."Kanan isn't wasting any time now that he's out of the hospital. Five years ago today was the last time that I've ever taken a drink of alcohol, and I'm not putting this out on social so that I get lots of messages and 'attaboys.'"It's not about that, so please don't even send thoes to me," he continued. "I'm putting this message out there for the people that are still struggling. For the people that think that they're just never gonna get it and that they can't break out of the soul crushing cycle of addiction. I absolutely felt that way for a long, long time."I tried and failed and tried and failed, and my consequences got more and more severe, and through the grace of God I finally got it, and my life has changed in magical and incredible ways these last 5 years that I could have only dreamt of, and I just want to say that if you're struggling, you're not alone," Kanan shared, in an effort to help anyone facing tough times."Don't isolate," he urged. "Don't give up. Keep trying, you know, not everybody gets it the first time. God knows I didn't, but, there is a wonderful, wonderful life waiting for you on the other side.
