CBS has been stunning fans of The Bold and the Beautiful with picturesque scenes and emotionally charged storylines since 1987. The same core families that launched the show remain on the canvas today, as stories continue to keep fans hooked to their seats!
While the love triangle between Ridge, Brooke, and Taylor remained the central plot, The Bold and the Beautiful storyline included other characters to add to the show’s charm. As such, Stephanie and Brooke's dynamic, the Steffy/Hope feud, and the Spencer and Sharpe families played a vital role in the show. The soap also highlighted many social issues in its storyline. Here are some moments that left viewers speechless.
The Bold and the Beautiful: 6 impactful scenarios that moved fans
1) Stephanie’s last moments with Brooke

From the show's early days, Forrester matriarch Stephanie’s (Susan Flannery) dislike for Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) was clear. The matriarch considered Brooke a threat to her family, and she tried hard to keep the latter away from her son, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), her husband, Eric (John McCook), her son, Thorne (Winsor Harmon), and their company, Forrester Creations. However, Brooke fought against Stephanie, emerging victorious many times. She not only married Ridge on numerous occasions, but she also married Eric twice. In 1993, Brooke acquired 51% of Forrester Creations, leveraging her ownership of the BeLieF patent.
Brooke believed that Ridge was her "destiny." Yet that didn't stop him from marrying other women, Caroline (Joanna Johnson) and Taylor (Hunter Tylo; now, Rebecca Budig). That left Brooke available to Eric, who had fallen out of love with Stephanie. He divorced Stephanie to marry Brooke and went on to have children, Rick (Jacob Young) and Bridget (Ashley Jones), with her.
After years of rivalry and heated altercations, Stephanie realized Brooke’s contribution to Ridge’s life and their family business. She acknowledged Brooke’s strength and her love for her family. They called a truce and became allies, particularly after Stephanie was diagnosed with cancer. Brooke was with Stephanie when she died.
For The Bold and the Beautiful fans, the most touching moment for the two leading ladies was Stephanie’s final moments. Not only did Stephanie forgive Brooke, but she also leaned on her for support and encouraged the younger woman to follow her dream. Fans loved the poignant scene as the two rivals united in their love of the family.
2) Taylor’s return from the dead

Taylor Hayes will always have a special place in Ridge's heart. For years, Ridge had yo-yoed between Brooke and Taylor. Despite being attracted to Brooke, Ridge married Taylor more than once, and they share two living children, Thomas and Steffy. In 1994, Taylor had a moment of infidelity after which she walked away from her marriage. However, she was presumed dead after a plane crash.
While Ridge moved on with Brooke, Taylor survived (she'd gotten off the plane during a stop before it took off again and had crashed), kept alive by Prince Omar (Kabir Bedi) of Morocco. Believing herself to be Princess Leila, the amnesiac Taylor married Omar before getting her memory back and returning to California.
However, Ridge became temporarily blind, and Taylor posed as a British nurse to care for him. In time, Taylor revealed her real self to Ridge and his family.
A shocked Ridge was moved by Taylor’s disclosure. The Bold and the Beautiful viewers loved the outcome of this event as they waited for months to see Taylor return to Ridge’s life. Taylor's return from the dead launched a new drama -- to whom was Ridge legally wed, Brooke or Taylor?
3) Revelation about Maya’s transgender identity

Karla Mosley’s Maya Avant arrived in the soap’s plot in 2013 and got involved with Rick Forrester. In 2015, Maya brought her sister, Nicole (Reign Edwards), to town, and the latter disclosed Maya’s real identity during one of their sibling arguments. Nicole said that Maya was "her brother" (Myron)!
Maya, later, revealed her transgender identity to Rick after the latter proposed to her. However, she fled, not wanting to embarrass Rick. However, Rick wanted her back in his life. He proposed to her again during a fashion show, and the pair married in August 2015. Love wins!
The relationship highlighted the cause of gender issues in society. Besides Maya’s coming out arc being highly sensitive, it also served the purpose of promoting inclusivity. The arc received publicity in mainstream media and in LGBTQ communities.
4) Steffy’s reunion with presumed-dead Finn

The backstory to this very emotional scenario started in April 2022 when Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) tried to shoot her daughter-in-law, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). Finn jumped in to save his wife and took the bullet. After he presumably breathed his last, Steffy grieved her husband’s death. Meanwhile, Dr. Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda) secretly nursed her son back to life and kept him hidden.
August 2022 saw a bereaved Steffy trying to accept her loss and move on in life. As such, Steffy visited Monte Carlo to spend some quiet time. Meanwhile, Finn, having recovered his health, reached out to Ridge and received Steffy’s location. He rushed to Monaco to look for his wife. As Steffy emerged from a church, Finn spotted her. The couple ran towards each other and embraced.
Fans loved the reunion after witnessing Steffy’s palpable grief. As Steffy and Finn make a loving and very loyal couple, The Bold and the Beautiful viewers prefer to see them together. As such, fans found Finn’s death at the hands of his Sheila (his biological mother) to save his wife, both gallant and tragic.
5) Thomas’s love for the Hope-looking mannequin

In a bizarre 2020 storyline on The Bold and the Beautiful, Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) developed an obsession with Hope (Annika Noelle). He was seen talking to a mannequin he meant to use as a model for his fashion line. However, the mannequin looked like Hope, pushing a mentally unstable Thomas to believe it was real. Weirdly, he hallucinated that the doll talked to him and asked him to subdue the real Hope, who was evil. As such, Thomas’s behavior became more sinister.
His interactions with the mannequin increased, and he was eventually seen kissing the doll, an act that Liam (Scott Clifton) witnessed. While it was later revealed that Thomas suffered from a subdural hematoma, causing his delusions, he was fairly embarrassed after his surgery. This also strained his relationship with Liam and Hope.
While this was not a lovable arc, it was exciting for fans to catch up with Thomas’s spiraling. They were caught up in Thomas’s creepy actions and Hope’s safety. With an uncanny similarity to the real person, Hope’s mannequin added to the creepiness of the arc. As such, Thomas’s mannequin story arc kept viewers interested in the show.
6) Eric’s forceful retirement by Ridge

On Monday, December 8, 2025, The Bold and the Beautiful fans saw Eric Forrester walking away from the company he had founded in a sudden turn of events. The week before, Ridge, Brooke, and Steffy were seen discussing his health and retirement. However, Monday’s episode found Eric forced into a surprise retirement party. After initially rejecting Ridge's request that Eric retire, the senior Forrester accepted the move to step back.
In heartfelt scenes, Eric, played by John McCook, was seen picking up his trademark stapler and his newest design sketches. He then walked to the runway with Donna, his wife. While he opened up to her about his disappointment and dejection, he asked for some time alone in his workplace.
Fans saw the Forrester Creations founder sadly looking around at the runway where he started his career and the huge company. His sense of emptiness and purposelessness came across loud and clear, making fans relate to his pain.
The Bold and the Beautiful presents many storylines that leave fans in awe or shake them to the core. However, the arcs listed above have had a memorable impact on viewers, both for the stories and the actors’ performances.
