Romantic stories and love triangles make up the core of The Bold and the Beautiful. Over the years, fans have seen many romantic pairs coming together and breaking apart. Some have moved out of the storyline, while others have taken long hiatuses. With the central characters of Ridge, Brooke, Taylor, Eric, Bill, Steffy, and a few more having more than one romantic alliance, the heat is always turned on in the soap’s plot.
As expected, The Bold and the Beautiful fans have some pairings that they have loved and some others that did not click. Among the couples that clicked well together, and those that are currently together, are Steffy and Finn, Liam and Hope, Bill and Katie, and Ridge and Brooke. However, many of the other well-liked couples separated over the years. Here's a look at some pairs that didn't last in the long run.
The Bold and the Beautiful: 6 couples with great chemistry that fans miss
1) Stephanie and Eric
Eric Forrester (John McCook) and his late wife Stephanie (Susan Flannery) were on and off throughout their life together, but they were together when Stephanie passed away. Despite her romantic history with Massimo Marone and Eric’s multiple marriages over the years, the Eric and Stephanie pairing hit the sweet spot for most fans. While jealous of Eric’s many women, Stephanie had a special dislike for Brooke for Eric’s repeated involvement with the Logan girl. (He married her twice!)
In a touching event, Eric and Stephanie remarried to mark their 50th anniversary. Following that, a cancer-ridden Stephanie forgave Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and died in her arms. Later in 2023, when Eric had a near-death experience, he had visions of Stephanie, proving their deep connection.
One of the reasons why they make a memorable pair is that they loved and respected one another. They built Forrester Creations together in the company's early years, especially. Today, Eric is married to Donna (Jennifer Gareis).
2) Rick and Maya
The romance between Jacob Young’s Rick Forrester and Karla Mosley’s Maya Avant made quite a splash on The Bold and the Beautiful because of a unique storyline revolving around a social statement. While Maya, a model for Forrester Creations, wooed Rick, believing him to be a waiter, her quick retraction after learning his true identity proved that she was not a social climber.
While Rick faced the dilemma of having to choose between Caroline (Linsey Godfrey) and Maya, the revelation of the latter’s gender identity posed a bigger problem. After admitting to being transgender, Maya (née Myron) walked away from Rick, assuming he was embarrassed by her. However, Rick accepted her gender identity and proposed marriage. The two married in 2015 and had a daughter, Lizzy, through surrogacy.
While they relocated away from LA, the couple divorced in 2018 and acquired joint custody of baby Lizzy. However, the chemistry and the “true-love-transcends-all” story arc of the Rick/Maya romance pleased fans. As such, many viewers miss the couple. Incidentally, Mosley now plays Dani on Beyond the Gates.
3) Quinn and Carter
The Quinn/Carter romance bloomed when Quinn Fuller, played by Rena Sofer, was married to Eric Forrester. Highlighting the often-tabooed issue of problems in marital intimacy, Quinn’s romance with Carter was more than just an extramarital affair. It started with Quinn sharing intimacy problems in her marriage, leading to loneliness, while Carter opened up about his hurt at being cheated on by Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes).
Initially, Ed threw Quinn out after her affair with Carter came to light. They later not only reconciled, but Eric signed off on Quinn and Carter continuing their affair as he was unable to meet her needs. However, Quinn felt guilty and stopped the affair. As such, Carter dated Paris Buckingham (Diamond White) and got engaged.
Later, when Eric moved on with Donna, he encouraged Quinn to reclaim her love for Carter. She stopped Carter’s wedding to Paris, and the two reunited. However, one day she left the town and Carter inexplicably. With no closure for this romance on The Bold and the Beautiful, fans had hoped the pair would someday reunite.
4) Thomas and Hope
Thomas Forrester’s (Matthew Atkinson) love for Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) started early and bordered on obsession. While admiring Brooke during their work together, Thomas turned his attention to Hope, who was in love with Liam (Scott Clifton). He hurried into a proposal, forcing a rejection from her. Dejected, Thomas wooed Caroline (Linsey Godfrey) and the two had baby, Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri), before moving to New York.
However, after Caroline’s death, Thomas returned to Los Angeles with his son and pursued the married Hope again, using his child as a weapon to capture Hope’s affections. Through various arcs and surprising twists, including Thomas’s attraction for a Hope-like mannequin to the lady throwing him into a vat filled with what turned out to be a harmless liquid, the relationship developed into love.
However, just as Thomas proposed Hope with a ring, his past evil deeds knocked at his door. As such, Hope wore the ring around her neck. Currently, Hope is married to Liam again, while Thomas is back at FC as the lead designer for Hope’s fashion line, Hope For The Future. If the attraction persists, the Thomas/Hope pair may add much drama on The Bold and the Beautiful.
5) Wyatt and Sally
Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) was the grandniece of Sally Spectra (Darlene Conley), a rival of the Forresters, and she was caught stealing designs from FC. Wyatt Spencer, played by Darin Brooks, and Sally Spectra, had a shaky start. While Wyatt was engaged to Ivy, Sally was dating Thomas. After both romances fell through, Wyatt developed a crush on Sally. He convinced Eric to give Sally a job at FC.
After the two became close, they got engaged. However, their happiness ended with Wyatt discovering Sally’s lies and secrets. As such, he had her ousted. As Wyatt moved on with his high school love, Flo Fulton (Katrina Bowden), Sally became desperate to win him back. She tried various ways, including deception about being terminal, and holding Flo hostage.
However, when Wyatt learned the truth, he dumped Sally permanently. Wyatt and Flo got engaged. Sally relocated to Genoa City and has started a new life on B&B's sister soap, The Young and the Restless. However, fans love the chemistry between Wyatt and Sally.
6) Ivy and Liam
Ivy Forrester, played by Ashleigh Brewer, arrived in LA to design jewelry at FC in 2014. At the time, Quinn interfered in Liam’s wedding with Hope, forcing the latter to marry Wyatt. As such, Liam agreed to marry Ivy to save her from deportation. Soon, Ivy’s documentation was done, and the marriage was annulled. While Ivy moved on with Wyatt, Liam confessed to her his feelings for Steffy.
Later, a May 2024 storyline on The Bold and the Beautiful showed Ivy passing through the town briefly and reconnecting with Liam. However, she left almost immediately. She returned to the soap in 2025, bringing her niece, Electra (Laneya Grace), to assist her. While she supported Electra and Will Spencer’s (Crew Morrow) romance, she found herself getting drawn towards Liam again. However, Liam insisted that Hope was his true love.
As such, Ivy stepped back and urged Hope to break off her engagement with Carter. She convinced Hope that Liam was her true happiness. While Liam and Hope officiated their marriage, Ivy refocused on Electra’s life. Many fans loved Liam’s brief romance with Ivy as it stopped Liam’s yo-yo cycle between Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Hope.
