The Bold and the Beautiful Daily Rehash, May 27: Wyatt needs more than a glittery scavenger hunt

The Bold and the Beautiful's Wyatt Spencer finally returned to Los Angeles after being gone for over two years. On the May 27, 2026, edition of the soap, Wyatt learned the reason Bill brought him back into the fold, and all roads led back to Hope and her defection to Logan.

Bill (Don Diamont) lured his son Wyatt (Darin Brooks) back to Los Angeles to help with an important matter for Katie's (Heather Tom) new fashion house. Without Eric’s designs to coast off of anymore, it's time to look toward the future, and since Hope (Annika Noelle) has officially signed with Logan, Bill is looking for ways to make an immediate impact. That's where Wyatt comes in. After figuring out Hope had defected from Forrester on his own, Wyatt asked why his father really requested his presence, and he clearly wasn't expecting the answer. Bill wants the HFTF diamond, and he thinks Wyatt is the perfect person to procure it for him.

While there's nothing inherently wrong with Bill's diamond-studded idea, hopefully Wyatt's return amounts to more than that. Wyatt has always been an engaging character when leading his own stories, but bringing him back into the fold just to prop up the story of Hope jumping ship doesn't feel like the most exciting use of the character. Wyatt has a complicated history with all of the major players on the canvas at the moment, so giving him more to do than simply chasing down a diamond could make this return feel far more worthwhile.

Aside from the diamond story, there are so many directions that the show could take Wyatt's story to make his return feel more impactful. For starters, he has a romantic history with Katie, and perhaps working closely together at Logan could rekindle some of those feelings. They haven't had any intimate contact in many years, but it's possible there's still some residual attraction. Another direction the show could take Wyatt romantically is reigniting the love triangle between himself, Hope, and Liam (Scott Clifton). The Spencer brothers have faced off over the same woman on numerous occasions, and it could be a way to spice everything up.

Whatever storyline awaits Wyatt now that he's made his grand return to Los Angeles, as long as it isn't happening simply to serve Hope's debut, it will be worth it. There's nothing inherently wrong with the diamond storyline, but wasting his entire comeback on a diamond from several years ago might leave longtime viewers disappointed. The Spencer boys are finally back together, and if this is all that the powers that be have come up with, it might not be well received.
