On the January 16, 2026, episode of The Bold and the Beautiul, R.J and Electra met for the first time, Eric explained himself to Donna, and Brooke presses Katie for answers about her lead designer.
What happened on The Bold and the Beautiful
R.J. missed being in Los Angeles and spending time with his parents. Brooke was grateful for this time with her son, especially after the recent drama with Katie. R.J. what she meant by that, and Ridge explained that Katie left the company and remarried Bill.
R.J. hope that it was a rumor, but he was further stunned to hear that Katie was launching a fashion house named Logan. Brooke was heartbroken by her sister's betrayal. R.J. understood how close that Brooke and Katie were, so he had an idea of how badly she was hurting from Katie's actions.
Brooke didn't want to fight with Katie, but Ridge wished that her little sister could compromise. R.J. spoke like the only adult in the room, stating that they needed to either accept it or don't. There was no use in having a pity party over someone else's actions that they could not control.
Brooke decided to break the ice and she wanted to head over to Spencer and visit Katie at Logan. After Brooke left, Ridge hoped that R.J. was there to stay for a while. R.J. wished that Brooke and Katie's rift would mend before it got any worse.
Electra walked in on the conversation between Ridge and R.J. and was instantly starstruck. Despite the blurred lines of relation between them, it was evident that the world stopped at that moment. For the first time, someone not named Will captured her attention.
Electra struggled to get an expensive necklace off before it could go into the safe. R.J. stepped up to the plate to help remove the piece from Electra's neck. He told her, "Don't worry Electra. Your heart's safe with me."
Donna dropped by the Logan offices to visit Katie, but she was taken aback to find her husband, Eric, there instead. Eric was there to discuss Logan with Katie, and Donna was happy that he could lend a helpful ear.
Donna hoped Eric could provide her with much needed guidance, and he assured her that Katie had nothing to worry about. Eric explained to Donna, "I've agreed to be your sister's lead designer.
Eric believed that nobody deserved his expertise more than Katie. Donna was considerably worried about the direction things were headed. She asked Eric if Brooke and Ridge were aware of what he was planning, and he confirmed that they didn't know. Eric wanted to keep it that way as well.
Donna reminded Eric that he was new into retirement, but Eric never felt like he had a choice. She found Eric's sentiment to be sweet, but it was a lot for someone of Eric's age to take on. This was what he wanted. It wasn't only for Katie. It was for Eric, someone forced out of his own company against his will.
Donna questioned how Brooke and Ridge would react this latest development. Eric insisted that he be the one to break the news to them. However, for now, he wanted it kept under wraps. Eric felt pushed to the side by Brooke and Ridge. They made him enter retirement, and as a free agent, he could do as he pleased.
Eric hadn't been this excited in years, which Donna attested to. Eric named Donna and design as the two most important things in his life. He didn't want to wallow away in retirement, but although she supported him, Donna was still concerned about Brooke's reaction.
Eric was tossed aside at the company be built from scratch, so he believed this was something they brought upon themselves.
At Spencer, Bill told Katie that he was dying to get Logan up and running. She told him that she found her lead designer, and he hoped it wasn't Deke. To his satisfaction it wasn't Deacon's son, but his jaw nearly fell to the floor when she named Eric Forrester.
Bill wanted to look at both sides of the equation. While he understood why Eric would be motivated to join them after Ridge pushed him out, he found it difficult to believe that Eric would defect from the company he founded.
Bill celebrated the idea of sticking it to Ridge and Forrester Creations. He relished in the idea of Eric turning on his family and helping he and Katie get revenge for how they treated her. Bill wanted to spread the news as quickly as possible and pitched doing an immediate media campaign about Eric's acquisition.
Katie was opposed to handling things in that manner. Eric hadn't told anyone yet, so she wanted to respect his wishes and handle things quietly. Bill realized that Katie had complete faith in Eric, so he congratulated her on the likely success of her fashion house.
Bill left to take care of other matters, and right after he departed, Brooke entered. She was still bothered by the company name, but it upset Brooke even more that she and her baby sister were at odds.

Katie was pleased with the progression of her fashion house, so she no longer felt the intimidation she did during her last encounter with Brooke. Katie informed Brooke that she secured her lead designer for the brand, and Brooke asked for the name. Before Katie could respond, Eric walked into the office, and if looks could talk, Brooke immediately connected the dots.
