Here is your The Bold and the Beautiful recap for Wednesday, May 20, 2026 featuring Hope losing all faith in Brooke.
What happened on The Bold and the Beautiful

Hope questioned what went wrong with Brooke's desire to become co-CEO alongside Ridge. Brooke was unwilling to damage Ridge and Steffy's relationship, but Hope took it as a complete and utter betrayal. She wanted her mother to take a stand on her behalf and not blindly follow whatever Ridge tells her to do.
Hope didn't want to listen to Steffy as her boss for the rest of her career. Despite Brooke's insistence that Ridge would come through for her, Hope refused to see that as the truth. This was a daughter completely broken by her mother choosing a man over her own child.
Hope reminded Brooke about how many times Steffy had shut her down in the past. Her line was never going to become a priority. It's been shelved for so long that customers doubted it would ever make a comeback.
Hope was being punished for Katie defecting, and Brooke was preaching everything that Steffy and Ridge were selling. She believed that this would never change, and Brooke was more concerned with keeping the peace with her husband than defending her daughter.
The message of Hope's line was just as important to her as the line itself. Brooke stated that she understood the pressure Hope was under for years with her line, and she was able to withstand it. Every time that Brooke tried to assure Hope that she had it all under control, Hope lost more faith in her mother.
Hope was absolutely disgusted that Brooke would make love to Ridge after he handed her the biggest disappointment of her life. Brooke begged Hope to contain her reaction, but the damage was done. This showcased exactly how Brooke felt about anyone that wasn't her precious man of destiny.
R.J. and Zende call a truce

Ridge, Eric, and the rest of the design team looked at one of Eric's (hideous) designs on the runway, and they couldn't get over how gorgeous it was. Eric, Ridge, and R.J. bonded over the success of couture, and it made Zende feel slightly left out. He had more autonomy in the HFTF line, but now he was relegated to sharing opinions with R.J., whom he shared a complicated past with.
Eric apologized about HFTF being put on ice, and Ridge said that it wasn't permanent. However, Zende wanted something more concrete for an answer. Was there a timeline for the return of Hope's line? Right now, it was all empty promises with nothing to back them up.
R.J. wanted to get Electra involved in the line with her jewelry, seemingly using it as a one-way ticket to her heart. Later on, R.J. confirmed to Zende that he planned to become a more permanent fixture at Forrester. However, Zende was less than enthusiastic, which opened the door to a long-overdue conversation.
R.J. was concerned that their past was going to become a problem and hinder their ability to work together on the team. Ultimately, R.J. and Zende were able to talk things out and come to a truce. How long that peace treaty will last remains to be seen.
The fallout begins

Later, Brooke filled in Ridge about her conversation with Hope and how it went completely off the rails. Hope wasn't fulfilled with her professional direction, and Brooke was concerned that this might be the end of her time at Forrester. Ridge, believing he controls everything, was under the impression that Hope wouldn't be going anywhere.
Katie was torn about what she wanted the outcome of the co-CEO spot at Forrester to be. If Steffy was out, then her plan to acquire Hope was out of the question. However, if Steffy remained in the top spot, Hope would inch closer than ever to jumping ship. Donna's words kept echoing in Katie's mind because there was a high possibility that Hope joining Logan would ruin their family.
Bill put on a hilarious impression of Brooke's (accurate) reaction to Ridge likely letting her down. Liam and Katie both knew how much Forrester meant to Hope, so even though they wanted her at Logan, it was going to be soul-crushing if her mother didn't come through.
Hope stormed into the office once Liam was alone and broke down over her mother's betrayal. Ridge would always be the most important thing in Brooke's life, and it didn't matter if Hope became collateral damage. Hope felt abandoned for Ridge, and Liam asked what the status of Hope's line was.
Ridge planned to speak to Steffy about it, but what was that going to accomplish? Steffy's mind was made up. There was no indication that it would ever have a different result. However, what felt like more of a stab in the back for Hope was learning that Brooke tangled between the sheets with Ridge after rejecting her bid for the co-CEO spot.
Liam completely lost it and put his foot down in defense of his wife. He didn't want Hope to toil away at the company for a single second longer. He told Hope that it was time for Hope to come work at Logan, where she'd finally be respected and valued.
