On The Bold and the Beautiful, Ridge Forrester continues to appoint himself the moral arbiter of Taylor’s life, even though his current loyalty resides with Brooke Logan.

What Happened On The Bold and the Beautiful

During Monday's episode, Ridge made it his purpose for the day to arrive uninvited, letting himself into a private space and confronting Taylor. He had no idea he would walk in on his ex kissing Deacon. Taylor (Rebecca Budig) has been floating on cloud nine with Deacon (Sean Kanan). It is a familiar, and frustrating cycle for us viewers who remember exactly how many times Ridge has walked away from her to return to the woman Taylor often views as her greatest rival. I’m not even sure rival is the right word; nemesis might be a little closer to the truth. I mean, how much did Brooke (Katherine Kelly lang) manipulate things to get Ridge back?

The hypocrisy is blatant. That should actually be Ridges middle name, Ridge Hypocrisy Marone, whoops, did i just say that? Ridge stands in Taylor’s office, sounding more like a protective father than an ex-husband, insisting that Deacon is a danger and a mistake. Well, Ridge, of the two of you, who gave Taylor broken-heart syndrome? And then decided to double down on it by crashing her back to earth after you caught her?

I love how Ridge keeps making mistake after mistake, acts callously, then, a moment later, can talk righteously about the difference between right and wrong? I’m just amazed that he can find his way from his office to his car with a moral compass as busted as his.

So here is what went down, he took it upon himself to 'mansplain' to a highly educated woman that she lacks the agency or intellect to choose her own company. That right there should have been his point to stop at. Was he really qualified to be dispensing advice, to anyone, on anything? Ridges life is absolute clown shoes at this point. The question remains: is Ridge the only man allowed to break Taylor’s heart? He has done it repeatedly over the decades, yet the moment she finds any degree of peace with someone else, he arrives to pull it all apart.

If Ridge really loved Taylor as he claims to do, he wouldn’t be comfortably playing house with the "Blonde Beelzebub." He chose Brooke (yet again), and he gave his right to dictate Taylor’s romantic future, with anyone. While he does have some very valid concerns about Sheila Carter, lord knows she is indeed the ultimate wild card; his approach feels less like genuine concern and more like a need for control. And that is what it comes back to. Control. Ridge cannot live without it.

When Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) discovers the bond between Taylor and Deacon, and she will, it's not like they are being stealthy at all, the fallout will be biblical, I'm talking scorched earth and maybe a scorched Il-Giardino too, depending on her mood at the time. To keep Sheila from regressing and assuming her ultimate form lol, all Deacon had to do was... toe... the line haha, I crack myself up sometimes. However, the potential for chaos and spot of murder, doesn't give Ridge a free pass to gatekeep Taylor’s happiness.

Taylor defended her choices, not that she needed to, to him at least, reminding Ridge that Deacon isn’t the one who has caused her the most pain recently. As the tension became thicker, it was clear that while Ridge might think he is saving Taylor from Sheila, he is really just ensuring she remains available as his perpetual backup plan. I should write an article like a score card of how many times Ridge has meddled in others affairs for no other reason that his own gain or need for control.

Taylor deserves so much better than a man who only cares about her heart when someone else is filling it. How do you feel about Ridge sticking his beak in? Is this genuine care for Taylor? Hit me in the comments!
