Days of our Lives spent the week proving that grief, guilt, cancer diagnoses, family feuds, and secret agendas can all coexist within a few blocks of each other. Amy refused to stop searching for answers about Sophia, Chanel and Johnny received devastating news about her health, and Xander continued orbiting Sarah with all the subtlety of a wrecking ball disguised as a romantic gesture.
Meanwhile, Lexie’s resurrection raised more questions than answers, Jennifer suddenly discovered the power of therapy, and Julie may have found herself standing at the beginning of a late-life romance that nobody saw coming six months ago.
Amy’s grief turned into a mission

Amy’s world continued shrinking around Sophia’s disappearance this week. The recovery effort was officially called off, authorities recovered the gun connected to Johnny’s assault, and every new piece of information seemed to create more questions than answers. Jada explained that the FBI recovered Sophia’s fingerprints and Johnny’s blood from the weapon despite its time in the river, which somehow made the situation feel even more unsettling. The deeper investigators dig, the harder it becomes to understand exactly what Sophia was planning during her final days.
The memorial service brought together many of the people affected by Sophia’s choices, but it also highlighted how differently everyone was processing the loss. Aaron blamed himself for not recognizing what Sophia was going through. Tate struggled with guilt. Holly carried her own emotional baggage. Amy, however, was moving in a different direction entirely. She was no longer focused on grief alone. She wanted accountability.
By Friday, that determination collided headfirst with reality when Belle explained that the evidence simply did not support a manslaughter case against Holly. The bigger shock may have been learning that Sophia herself appeared to be responsible for much of the online harassment. Amy looked genuinely blindsided by information that the audience has known for quite some time. The tragedy here is that Amy is searching for someone to blame, only to repeatedly discover that Sophia’s problems were far more complicated than she realized.
Chanel’s diagnosis changed everything

The week’s most emotional story belonged to Chanel and Johnny. What started as concern over biopsy results quickly became something much more frightening when Sarah confirmed that Chanel’s cancer was malignant and aggressive. Suddenly, every conversation about the future carried a different weight.
Johnny spent much of the week trying to support Chanel without pretending everything would magically be fine. To the show’s credit, neither character treated the diagnosis lightly. Chanel immediately began thinking about treatment, pregnancy, risk, and survival all at once. Johnny wanted to reassure her, but he also understood there were no easy answers available.
The timing of Lexie’s return created an interesting contrast. While one story centered on a woman who was supposedly cured of the condition that killed her, another focused on someone facing a terrifying diagnosis in real time.
EJ casually revealed that Dr. Rolf’s methods eliminated Lexie’s fatal brain tumor. Salem residents barely blinked at that revelation, but the scientific community would probably be losing its collective mind. Forget Salem. A man apparently cured death and cancer at the same time. Every research hospital on Earth should be camped outside the DiMera gates demanding paperwork.
Lexie’s return continues to reshape Salem

Lexie spent much of the week asking the questions viewers have been asking since she walked out of the tunnels alive. Unlike some Salem residents who tend to accept impossible situations after a brief conversation and a cup of coffee, Lexie wanted details.
EJ attempted to explain the resurrection process, but every answer seemed to create another question. Lexie remained skeptical, especially when the explanation boiled down to some version of, “Trust Dr. Rolf.” History suggests that trusting Dr. Rolf is generally a terrible idea, even when he happens to be correct.
At the same time, Lexie’s return continued affecting everyone around her. Abe remained so determined to avoid discussing his situation with Paulina that he practically treated the subject like an unexploded bomb. Theo noticed. Paulina noticed. Everyone watching noticed. Meanwhile, Lexie’s growing resentment toward Paulina revealed a sharper edge than many remembered. Even EJ seemed surprised by how much DiMera was showing through.
Xander keeps pushing while Sarah keeps resisting

For a man who claims he wants Sarah back, Xander continues finding some fascinating ways to demonstrate it. Moving back into the Kiriakis mansion placed him directly in Sarah’s orbit again, which felt less like a coincidence and more like a strategy he convinced himself was practical.
After he was needling her in the hospital, Marlena quickly recognized what was happening and hauled Xander into her office for what felt remarkably similar to being summoned by a school principal. Once the bravado disappeared, Xander admitted the truth. Everything still comes back to Sarah. Every argument, every bad decision, every attempt to provoke Brady eventually circles back to the same thing.
The problem is that love and obsession often occupy neighboring properties in Salem. Xander clearly loves Sarah, but there are moments when his determination starts looking less romantic and more concerning. Sarah continues insisting she has moved on, while Xander continues behaving like the story is far from over. Considering this is Salem, he is probably right. That does not mean anyone should be comfortable about it.
Jennifer’s sudden change raised new questions

Jennifer spent part of the week apologizing to Cat, supporting Jack’s relationship with Gwen, and generally behaving like someone who had discovered personal growth during an off-screen retreat. The problem is that viewers never actually saw most of the journey.
After months of hostility toward Cat and years of resentment toward Gwen, not to mention putting the audience through her constant scowling and vitriol, Jennifer suddenly arrived with apologies, understanding, and emotional maturity. The explanation was therapy, which is perfectly reasonable. The issue is that the audience largely missed the transformation itself. The payoff arrived without much of the process.
That became especially noticeable when Jennifer discussed Gwen with Jack. She said all the right things and offered her support, but there were moments where the expression on her face suggested she might still be wrestling with those feelings. Maybe she truly has made peace with everything. Maybe she has not. Either way, it feels like there is probably more beneath the surface than the conversation revealed.
Salem’s quieter stories kept moving forward

Not every storyline revolved around life-altering diagnoses and resurrection science. JJ officially chose a new direction by joining the Salem Fire Department, allowing him to continue helping people without returning to police work. It felt like a natural next step for a character who has spent years searching for stability. The decision also gave Jack and Jennifer one of their brighter moments of the week.
Elsewhere, Theo finally pushed back against Gabi after she accused him of sabotaging her relationship with Philip. Watching Theo stop apologizing and simply tell her he had bigger concerns than her latest romantic disaster was surprisingly satisfying. Considering his mother had literally returned from the dead, he had a point.
Then there was Julie and Foster. The show spent months slowly nudging them toward each other before finally letting Foster ask her to dinner. The nerves, the awkwardness, and the hesitation made the entire thing feel sweet in a way Salem sometimes forgets how to do. Not every romance needs kidnappings, impostors, or secret tunnels beneath a mansion.
In conclusion...
Join us next time when Salem continues debating resurrection ethics, Amy undoubtedly finds another target for her frustration, somebody discovers what that missing chess piece actually means, and the judges finally announce the winners of the highly competitive “Most Suspicious Secret Tunnel Maintenance Budget” awards.
