At the dorms, Tate asked Aaron if he was okay because he was unnaturally quiet. Aaron told Tate that he had confirmed his paternity of Tesoro and signed away his rights to him so that Tesoro could be adopted. “That is definitely a lot to go through in one day,” Tate agreed. Aaron noted that even though he was not ready to be a father, he was still struggling with the idea that he had fathered a child, whom he had given up. Aaron noted that he was happy that it allowed Holly and Tate to reconcile. “Sort of,” Tate said. Tate explained that since she had been placed on academic probation, she had kept him at a distance.

In the bookstore, Holly stared at a textbook as Ari talked about Stephanie’s announcement that she was Anastasia Sands. Frustrated, Holly pointed out that she was trying to study. Ari reached over and closed her textbook. Holly argued that she needed to make the Dean's list.

“I know you’re freaked out about being on disciplinary probation, but you cannot just work your ass off all day, every day,” Ari argued. Ari reminded Holly that one of the reasons Holly had decided to remain in Salem was to spend time with Tate. Holly admitted that after everything that had happened, she and Tate would need time. “If you do actually want to work things out with Tate, you’re going to actually have to spend time with him,” Ari noted. Ari suggested that they meet up with Tate in the square. Holly agreed.

Outside the Brady Pub, Sarah pushed Victoria in her stroller as she chattered on about how Victoria had been the cutest princess in town for Halloween. Xander approached, and he smiled as he greeted Victoria. “Don’t follow us,” Sarah huffed as she pushed Victoria away from Xander and into the pub.

Inside the pub, Kate complained to Philip about how she had missed Stephanie’s book party. Philip told Kate about how Alex had almost been hit by a flying pumpkin. “But on a brighter note, Stephanie’s reveal whipped up quite the stir, and Leo’s article is getting tons of traffic,” Philip said. Philip expressed his hope that the success of the book would help Titan Publishing. “What’s going to happen if it doesn’t work? Do you just lose everything?” Kate asked. Philip said yes. Kate offered to help.

Kate noticed Xander staring sadly through the window at Sarah, and she asked Philip about it. Philip told Kate that Xander and Sarah were getting a divorce, but he did not tell her why. Philip went over to Sarah’s table to check on her.

“We saw Xander outside. Anything I can do?” Philip asked. “I think you’ve done enough, thank you,” Sarah said stiffly. Philip asked Sarah not to tell Kate the truth about Sarah’s breakup, because Kate would destroy Titan. Sarah agreed to keep quiet with Kate, but she admitted she had already told Brady. “I hate covering for Xander after what he did,” Sarah grumbled.

In the square, Rachel asked if Marlena had called Brady to pick her up because she was mad at Rachel. “She’s disappointed,” Brady corrected. “And what about you?” Rachel asked. Brady confirmed that he was mad. “I know you had a hard year, but there is no excuse for what you did,” Brady stressed. Rachel attempted to defend herself, but Brady cut her off. “You could have hurt somebody,” Brady said. Rachel apologized. Brady asked Rachel if she was actually sorry.

Annoyed, Rachel yelled, “What do you mean? I said I was sorry.” Brady told Rachel that Thomas had told him about Rachel’s advice to cause problems for Cat. “Same problems you caused for me and Chloe, the same thing you did to me and Ava,” Brady said. Rachel scowled. Brady asked Rachel if she had bragged about running Ava out of town and if she had given advice to Thomas about how to break up Chad and Cat. Rachel said yes.

“What are you going to do?” Rachel asked. Brady grounded Rachel, and he canceled her visit with Kristen. “This is completely unfair!” Rachel shouted. “Actions have consequences,” Brady said. Furious, Rachel ran off. Brady caught up with Rachel outside the pub, and she hid behind Xander. Xander gave Brady a questioning look.

“Is everything all right?” Xander asked. “No. I’m in trouble,” Rachel said. “Let’s go inside,” Brady said. Reluctantly, Rachel accompanied Brady into the pub. Rachel ran into Sarah’s arms. Brady told Sarah that Rachel was upset with the consequences of her actions.

As Rachel went to get a drink, Brady told Sarah about Rachel’s scheming with Thomas and how they had hit Alex with a pumpkin. Brady noted that Alex was fine, but he was more concerned that Rachel was counseling other kids to break up the relationships of their parents.

“I was just hoping that all this therapy that she’s been going through would help. Obviously hasn’t,” Brady said. Sarah suggested that Rachel was scheming because it gave her control over something in her life. Brady agreed, but he refused to allow Rachel to manipulate people without consequences. Brady admitted that he had canceled Rachel’s visit with Kristen.

“I just feel bad about doing something so extreme,” Brady said. Brady explained that other punishments had not worked, but he knew that the visit was something that Rachel valued. “So that was my last card to play. To let her know that I’m serious about this,” Brady said. Brady stressed that this was a one-time punishment because he needed Rachel to understand how serious her actions had been. Sarah suggested that Brady work with Kristen.

“We used to have a united front as far as that was concerned, right up until Kristen shot her brother,” Brady said. Brady argued that Kristen’s toxic behavior had influenced Rachel. “The less [Rachel] sees of her mother, the better,” Brady said. Sarah changed the subject to Xander’s confession, and she asked Brady not to tell anyone the truth about Philip’s assault. Brady agreed.

Rachel returned, and she was still angry. Sarah tickled Rachel and got her to laugh. Rachel asked Sarah how she knew where she was ticklish. Sarah reminded Rachel that she had been her doctor since she was a baby. “You’re my favorite patient,” Sarah said. “And you’re my favorite doctor. And friend,” Rachel countered. Brady mouthed a thank you at Sarah.

Philip met up with Xander outside the pub and offered to buy him a drink. “I don’t think I’d be very good company tonight,” Xander said. “When are you ever good company?” Philip joked. Uninterested in alcohol and its consequences, Xander escorted Philip over to the bookstore for a pastry. “I’m trying to better myself,” Xander noted. “It might not be a bad goal for me either,” Philip said. Philip asked about Sarah, and Xander told him about their run-in outside the pub.

“This divorce is incredibly painful for me, but Sarah can’t even stand to be in my presence right now. And I just don’t want to make her do anything she doesn’t want to do right now. Not after everything I put her through,” Xander said. Xander admitted he did not want to fight with Sarah because she was afraid of him. “I will refrain from trying to win her back, at least until I have actually become the honorable man that I aspire to be, in charge of my anger, and able to uphold strong moral principles,” Xander said. Xander explained he did not want to hurt his daughter the way Victor had hurt him.

“You can’t compare your relationship with Victoria to your relationship with our father. Xander, I’ve seen how you dote on that little girl, how she looks at you like you hung the moon. All Victoria knows is how much you love her,” Philip said. Xander said that Victoria was the reason he wanted to be a better man, so that he would be worthy of her and Sarah. “God willing, someday, I can win her back, the love of my life, my beautiful Sarah,” Xander whispered.

In the town square, Ari and Holly met up with Tate and Aaron. Aaron told the women that the DNA test had proven that he was the father of Sophia’s baby. “That’s a lot to deal with. What do you think you’re going to do about it?” Holly asked. Aaron explained he had signed away his rights. “Now the baby can get adopted, and hopefully by Johnny and Chanel,” Aaron said. Ari was disappointed that Tesoro would no longer be with her family.

Ari got emotional, and she excused herself. Aaron caught up with Ari at the edge of the square, and he asked her if she was okay. Ari sniffled back tears. “I don’t know why I’m falling apart like this. You’re the one who just had to give up your kid,” Ari said. Aaron reminded Ari that he had not gotten to know Tesoro.

“But you and your mom and your uncle and Leo, you all loved him,” Aaron said. Aaron told Ari that he was grateful that his son had been with her family. “Tesoro was very, very lucky,” Aaron said. Ari noted that her family was lucky. Aaron and Ari hugged. “Maybe we can go see him together sometime,” Aaron said. Ari grinned and said yes.

Across the square, Tate and Holly discussed how strange it was not to worry about the baby anymore. “It all worked out for the best. Tesoro is finally going to have parents who love him and cherish him,” Holly said. Holly told Tate that she wanted to date him, but she wanted to make sure she had a life outside of having a boyfriend. Tate agreed.
