Days of our Lives fans know that Judi Evans took on the role of Bonnie Lockhart during a very dark time in Salem. A serial killer was running amok through town, killing folks left and right. Balancing that dark story was the character of Bonnie, who brought joy to even the darkest of times. Today, Evans still brings joy to Bonnie, and for that, Soap Central is bestowing upon the Daytime Emmy-winner our Performer of the Week honors for DAYS.

Bonnie Kiriakis was on the edge of her seat when Johnny (Carson Boatman) came by with his decision on Titan Publishing purchasing Bonnie's novel, "One Rainy Afternoon." Johnny was a bit of a tease as he slowly gave Bonnie the good news that Titan indeed wanted to option her book.

The look on Bonnie's face was nothing but unbridled joy! Anyone who has ever brought a creative endeavor to a successful resolution could identify with the happiness coursing through Bonnie's body! She was over the moon and hugged Johnny in appreciation.

When Evans, through her characters, expresses excitement, viewers just feel good! Evans has been in Salem for 40 years, having made her debut as Adrienne Johnson, Bonnie's ill-fated doppelganger, in late 1986.

Bonnie had more news coming her way that day. Alexander (Robert Scott Wilson) informed his dad, Justin (Wally Kurth), and his stepmom that he and Stephanie (Abigail Klein) had gotten married.

And, later, Johnny informed Bonnie and Justin that he and Chanel (Raven Bowns), on top of having adopted Trey, are expecting a biological child. That prompted Justin to recall him and the late Adrienne adopting their sons, Joe and Vic, and then, Adrienne learned she was expecting Sonny (Zach Tinker).

"Well, that happens all the time, though," Bonnie said. "People adopt a kid and then, bang! There's a bun in the oven."

Arguably, Bonnie was injecting a bit of levity into her husband's story, perhaps, because she feels wistful that he had a full life before he met her. A life that included the love of his life, Adrienne, and children. It must always be a part of Bonnie's psyche that she wonders how much of Justin's love for her was initially born out of the fact that Bonnie is Adrienne's doppelganger.

"You know this is just a day of exciting news -- a baby, a book, and Stephanie and Alex are,,," Bonnie said, catching herself, as she realized that Johnny wasn't in on the fact that Stephanie and Alex were secretly married.

"We're one big happy family," Bonnie added. Joyfully, we might add!

Brava to Judi Evans for bringing such joy to Salem!
