Here’s your Days of our Lives recap for April 1, 2026, when Tate and Holly discovered Sophia had made fools of them, Xander and Sarah continued to be fools in love, Mark called out Cat on her foolish mistake, and EJ wondered if Vivian had pulled off the ultimate prank.

At the Brady Pub, Sophia surprised Roman by requesting her old job back. Since Roman had always been nice to her, Sophia thought he might give her a chance. A disbelieving Roman responded, “I’ll give you five minutes to get the hell out of my pub.”

Sophia took the not-so-subtle hint and left. But her morning didn’t get much better when she literally ran into Kristen outside the pub. Kristen, with menace in her tone, said she had been looking for Sophia. Before Sophia could muster a response, Kristen laid into her for befriending Rachel and then manipulating the impressionable girl. The fact that her daughter had been sent back to Bayview while Sophia walked free especially enraged Kristen.

Sophia pleaded with Kristen not to hurt her. With a smile, Kristen assured the younger woman that she didn’t have physical harm in mind. Sophia was just a teenager prone to mistakes, after all. The people she really blamed for Rachel’s current stay in Bayview were her brother, EJ, and Dr. Marlena Evans. Kristen let Sophia know that she was going to “help” Kristen make things right.

At Brady’s place, Brady told Tate and Holly that Rachel hadn’t been responsible for the pills. When he mentioned Sophia’s name, he was taken aback to learn that the teens had essentially already identified Sophia as the true mastermind. The trio compared notes about their respective discoveries. Upon hearing that Sophia had snuck out of Bayview and secured a phone, Holly realized that Ari had indeed spotted her nemesis around town during the breakout. Tate proclaimed they needed to find evidence to put Sophia back in Bayview for good.

Later, Tate and Holly made their way to the pub…and interrupted a tense conversation between Kristen and Sophia. Kristen claimed she had been warning Sophia to stay away from Rachel and then strolled away. Sophia breathed a sigh of relief, but it was short-lived, as Holly and Tate stepped up to confront her next. When the couple condemned Sophia for her machinations with Rachel and beforehand with Johnny and Holly, Sophia played dumb and flippantly told Holly that the world did not revolve around her. Tate and Holly extended their own warning for Sophia to steer clear of them. “Gladly,” Sophia replied, but then added “April Fool’s” when the couple was out of earshot.

Tate and Holly went inside and greeted Roman. They were glad to hear that Roman had turned down Sophia’s job request. Holly surmised Sophia was still obsessed with them. Holly refused to play victim anymore, however, and vowed that she and Tate would stay one step ahead of her.

At the DiMera mansion, Gwen accused EJ of killing Vivian…or at least ordering the hit. EJ conceded that he had commissioned someone to end Vivian after what she had done to his family. Yet when the hitman had arrived in Alamainia, EJ claimed, Vivian was already dead. Gwen was pleased as punch, since she believed Dimitri might have actually taken out Vivian.

EJ wasn’t so sure the old villainess was really gone, but he agreed with Gwen that Dimitri’s current stint in an Alamainia jail would serve their plans well (as would Dr. Rolf's talent for evading authorities). Gwen anticipated having full access to the fortune soon. EJ reminded her that once their miracle drug went to market, they would have no more need for Dimitri’s money. Gwen toasted to that outcome.

In Horton Town Square, Cat caught up with her brother Mark over breakfast. She was happy to see he had been temporarily liberated from the lab and again tried to inquire about the secret happenings there. Mark insisted he knew nothing, but he had been busy covering for Cat’s own secret dealings. The comment caught Cat off guard. Mark explained that – at EJ’s request – he had reviewed lab surveillance footage. During his viewing, Mark had observed Cat letting Kayla into the lab on the night of Stephanie’s rescue.

Cat defended that she had only been trying to help find Stephanie. Mark understood but advised his sister that anyone could have seen the footage…including EJ. He assured Cat that he hadn’t divulged his discovery to their boss. In fact, he had erased the footage. After Mark asked how Cat had known the code for the lab door, she lied and said she had seen EJ inputting it. The man himself arrived shortly thereafter.

Mark politely excused himself following EJ’s arrival, so EJ took his place at the table. EJ again promised Cat that he had involved her brother in nothing illegal. He then had a personal request for his assistant. EJ wanted Cat to oversee the reading of Stefano’s will. He couldn’t trust his siblings to “behave,” and he needed support from someone he trusted.

EJ stressed that Cat could decline, since the request didn’t involve her official duties as EJ’s hospital assistant. Cat said she was in. EJ was pleased but still anxious about what surprises his father might yet have in store.

At the hospital, Sarah and Xander watched over Victoria as they awaited the doctor’s arrival. They shared a surprisingly cordial conversation in which Sarah pledged that she would honor the custody agreement and reiterated to Xander that she hadn’t been trying to get rid of him during their earlier blow-up. Sarah bristled, though, when Xander insinuated that she had only wanted him to leave because she was too tempted by being in the same room with him. He felt the same way.

Sarah called out Xander’s ego and insisted he had it all wrong. And while she was willing to let Xander see Victoria whenever he wanted, she made it clear that Gwen was not part of the deal. Xander was fine with that, but did make a sarcastic crack about Brady. Sarah listed off all the reasons why Brady was nothing like Gwen. During her tirade, she let it slip that she and Brady hadn’t taken their relationship to the next level, physically.

Xander smirked and said he was happy Sarah and Brady were “taking it slow.” Xander got a text from Kate, which stated that Johnny was refusing to settle and that they’d have to default on Titan’s payment. By Xander’s reaction, Sarah concluded the text was about work and urged Xander to go and take care of it. Xander was reluctant to leave Victoria. As a sign of good faith, Sarah offered to have Xander come by later and tuck in Victoria at bedtime.

The gesture seemed to satisfy Xander, so he thanked Sarah and left. Later, Brady paid Sarah a visit and filled her in on the latest developments with Rachel. Sarah concurred that Sophia – although the girl was troubled – needed to be held accountable. While Brady was relieved that his fears about Rachel’s recovery were misplaced, he was also sad for his daughter because Rachel had been used by someone whom the girl had considered a friend and confidant. Sarah affirmed she would help Brady and Rachel any way she could, and she accepted a grateful Brady’s invitation to accompany her home.

Meanwhile, at the Salem Inn, Xander came into his room and found Gwen waiting on his bed. She had apparently been summoned by Xander and asked about the reason for the early-morning invite. Xander, however, didn’t want to talk and instead joined Gwen on the bed. Later, the winded duo acknowledged they had both needed the “stress relief.” They quickly went in for another round of relief.

After Gwen departed, Xander made a phone call. He instructed someone to move funds into the “legit side” of Titan’s business to cover the company debt.
