What happened on Days of our Lives

At the Brady Pub, Theo told Gabi about his decision to leave DiMera. He remained vague on his reasons, despite Gabi’s attempts to get him to open up. Theo let Gabi know that he’d submitted his proposal for a partnership between Gabi Chic and DiMera to Johnny, although he assumed Gabi would go with Titan instead. Gabi stressed she would do what was best for her company, and that wouldn’t change just because she was living with one of Titan’s CEOs.
The change in Gabi’s living status – and the seeming advancement of her relationship with Philip – caught Theo’s attention. When she admitted that things were going well between Philip and her, Theo wondered if Gabi was having second thoughts about keeping the secret about her deception from Philip. Gabi emphatically vowed that Philip could still never learn the truth. Looking for a lighter change of subject, she invited Theo and Jada to join Philip and her for a rematch at Trivia Night. Theo accepted the invitation.

Outside the pub, Alex happily greeted Chanel and baby Trey. Chanel asked how Stephanie was doing and mentioned she’d recently talked with Stephanie. Alex was surprised that Stephanie had seemingly confided in Chanel while freezing him out. He pleaded with Chanel to tell him what Stephanie had said. Chanel was reluctant to break her friend’s confidence, but eventually told Alex that Stephanie was blaming herself for the kidnapping and was questioning her life choices.
The revelation that Stephanie had referred to herself as a “wreck” especially alarmed Alex, and he lamented her refusal to let him in. Chanel gave her support. She noted Alex doting on Trey and jokingly offered to let Alex and Stephanie “borrow” her son sometime in preparation for starting their own family one day.
Following her conversation with Alex, Chanel took Trey inside the pub and spotted Theo and Gabi, who soon left after confirming Trivia Night with Theo. Chanel joined her stepbrother at the table. The two quickly got to the topic of Johnny taking over as permanent CEO for Theo. Chanel admitted she was still coming to terms with Johnny’s decision, but knew Theo was holding something back. She directly asked him if EJ had anything to do with his choice.
Theo said his decision was his own, but he continued to hedge on why he had made it. Chanel agreed to respect Theo’s privacy. She did encourage him to find someone he could trust to talk about what was bothering him. Later, Theo made a call to Marlena’s office.

At Titan, Stephanie stopped by Philip’s office and returned the advance check she had gotten for her next book. Stephanie didn’t feel right accepting money for a project that would never happen. Philip understood that Stephanie needed time, but she made it clear that she didn't plan to write another novel ever again. Philip accepted the decision and said he’d get in touch with Kate and with the legal team about releasing Stephanie from her contract. He started to talk about how telling love stories and “digging into those emotions” must be triggering for Stephanie.
Stephanie promptly picked up on Philip using the same phrasing as she’d used with Alex when explaining her decision to him. She realized that Alex had already intervened on her behalf with Philip and got angry. Stephanie affirmed she was independent and could take care of herself and accused Alex of treating her like a victim. Philip defended his cousin and said Alex had only been trying to make things “easier” for Stephanie.
Stephanie calmed down and apologized to Philip. She knew it wasn’t his fault. Alex, on the other hand…
Later, Philip got a much warmer reception when Gabi came by the office. She threw cold water on his hopes for a romantic evening by announcing they were returning to the pub for Trivia Night.
Meanwhile, at Alex and Stephanie’s apartment, the couple arrived home around the same time. Stephanie’s mood had not improved. She informed him that Philip had let her out of her contract and then icily added that Alex already knew. After she confronted him about speaking with Philip without her knowledge, he said he’d only been trying to help. Stephanie started to say that when she had actually needed Alex’s help.
“I failed you,” Alex finished for her. She backed off and claimed she didn’t blame him for what had happened with Owen. Alex hinted that he knew Stephanie blamed herself, leading her to ask him where he had gotten that idea. It didn’t take long for Stephanie to conclude that Alex had been talking about her with Chanel, too.
Alex was desperate because Stephanie wouldn’t talk to him. He implored her to do so. Stephanie, however, said she needed time to herself and walked out on Alex.

In Horton Town Square, Rafe hugged Javi and welcomed his “Primo” back to town. The cousins took their seats, and Javi filled Rafe in on his full-time return to the fire department. To Rafe’s delight, Javi confirmed he planned to stay in Salem permanently. Rafe readily agreed to let Javi stay in his old room. But he was worried about how Javi was coping emotionally, especially regarding Leo — who Rafe subtly pointed out was lurking in the background.
Javi didn’t turn and breathed a sigh of relief when Leo left without approaching. He wasn’t ready to face his ex, but he did say he was in a much better place now that he had clarity about Leo and Dimitri. Rafe somewhat defended Leo and indicated that Leo had seemed to really be struggling. He updated Javi on Leo’s hospitalization (which did alarm Javi), about Dimitri’s exoneration for the DiMera kidnappings, and about Dimitri’s return from Alamainia. Javi assumed that things were going well for Leo and Dimitri.
If his ex had moved on, Javi reasoned, he felt free to do the same. He started to tell Rafe about something that had happened in Texas, but Gabi’s unexpected arrival interrupted him. Javi and Gabi shared a joyful reunion.

At Marlena’s hospital office, Marlena got a call from a frenzied Leo. He babbled about needing to see her at once, and Marlena offered an impromptu session. Later, when Leo arrived — no less frantic ‚ Marlena advised him to take a breath. Leo settled in a chair, slightly calmer, and told Marlena his panic wasn’t about his concussion, or his head, but his “heart” instead. He began telling her all about his almost-intimate encounter with Dimitri, and how almost doing the deed had given him an epiphany about his feelings for Javi, whom Leo called the love of his life.
Leo bemoaned not reverting to his old ways earlier, because if he’d hooked up with Dimitri months ago, he could have come to his realization much sooner. Marlena reminded Leo that he’d done the hard work to become someone who was thoughtful and considered other people’s feelings. Leo reflected on his transformation from “walking disaster” to “work in progress,” but he didn’t think his progress would help him with Javi. Leo confided in Marlena about Dimitri’s hateful words to him, including his dismissal of Leo as “damaged goods” who would never find love.
Marlena expressed her belief that Leo had felt “safe” with Dimitri because Dimitri had given him permission to never grow or evolve. If Leo wanted another chance with Javi, he should have an open and honest conversation with the man. Leo was worried about hurting Javi again, but Marlena believed Javi should be given a chance to decide on his future and whether or not it would include Leo. No matter Javi's ultimate choice, Marlena pledged she would be there for Leo.
Emboldened by Marlena’s pep talk, Leo called Javi…and got his voicemail. Back in the square, Javi showed his rejected phone call to Rafe and Gabi. He proclaimed it evidence of his determination to move on from Leo.
