Here’s your Days of our Lives recap for April 15, in which Trivia Night goes awry, Johnny makes an alarming discovery, and Leo and Javi come face-to-face.
What happened on Days of our Lives

In Horton Town Square, Leo had an awkward run-in with Dimitri, who departed without saying a word to Leo. The reporter’s day brightened when he ran into Johnny and Chanel on a stroll with Trey. Leo was elated to see his former foster son, and the warm encounter prompted a memory of Leo’s time with the boy and with Javi. Johnny and Chanel assured Leo again that he could visit Trey any time. The couple’s day threatened to take a downturn as EJ approached after Leo left.
To EJ’s surprise, Chanel cordially greeted him, thanked him for what he had done to secure Trey’s adoption, and even invited her father-in-law to join Johnny and her for dessert. EJ readily accepted the invitation, and the trio enjoyed cups of gelato. Since the visit seemed to be going well, Chanel ventured a question about whether EJ had any ulterior motives for helping with Trey. EJ admitted that he did: he longed for the days when he and Chanel and Johnny had been in a better place, and he craved a relationship with Johnny and his grandson. Johnny echoed EJ’s sentiment that family meant everything, and he vowed that – like EJ – he would put his family first.
EJ, Johnny, and Chanel parted on very good terms. Later, at the couple’s home, Johnny and Chanel prepared for bed. Chanel marveled at how well their time with EJ had gone, and she was feeling especially good because her energy had returned. Johnny seductively suggested they put Chanel’s renewed “energy” to good use.
While making love to Chanel, Johnny pulled back with a start. When Chanel asked what was wrong, Johnny said he believed he’d felt a lump on his wife’s breast.
Gwen and Dimiti have a talk

At the DiMera Mansion, Gwen looked over the finalized divorce papers EJ had given her, with the advice to secure Dimitri’s signature as soon as possible. The man himself glumly entered the room and poured a drink. Gwen made a sarcastic crack about Leo’s absence, and Dimitri coldly informed her he’d been dumped by Leo. Gwen didn’t do much to hide her delight, which Dimitri noted, with the reminder that Leo had been the one to compel Dimitri to sign the divorce papers. Without Leo, Dimitri saw no reason to give Gwen what she wanted.
Gwen went on a tirade and threatened to make Dimitri’s life miserable if he forced her to stay married to him. Seeing that her threats weren’t having the desired effect, Gwen switched tactics and made an appeal to Dimitri’s better nature. She reminisced about the charming and kind man he’d been before they’d married. She had considered herself so lucky and fortunate to have loved that man. Gwen pleaded with Dimitri to do the right thing for her and for himself and to set them both free.
Gwen’s words seemed to be having an effect on Dimitri, and he eventually told her to hand him the papers. Gwen was pleased with Dimitri’s acquiescence, but he let her know that the sentimental ramblings hadn’t gotten to him. He simply didn’t consider the prospect of being chained to Gwen any longer “worth it.” Dimitri also warned Gwen that one day, he would find the proof of what she had done to him. Then, he would make her pay for destroying his life and his relationship with Leo.
EJ soon joined the festivities and took a few digs at Dimitri, who announced he was leaving Salem. EJ extended his nephew an invitation to Stefano’s will reading, but Dimitri said he and Megan had gotten along fine without the DiMeras before flatly rejecting the invitation. After Dimitri stormed out, Gwen bragged about her forthcoming fortune. EJ advised her to be on guard about Dimitri’s sudden about-face.
Gabi and Philip

Outside the Brady Pub, Gabi lightly and flirtatiously quizzed Philip in preparation for Trivia Night. Inside the pub, the mood was decidedly more downbeat at Theo and Jada’s table. Roman greeted the couple and made mention of Shawn staying with Jada during his recovery. The news surprised Theo, and he confronted Jada about it after Roman left the table. Jada assured Theo she was just looking out for and helping Shawn, just as she would for anyone on the police force.
But Shawn wasn’t just anyone, Theo contested, because Jada and he had once been more than friends. Jada insisted that part of the relationship was in the past and would stay in the past. Gabi and Philip came inside and interrupted the tense moment. Leo also arrived on the scene, and Gabi temporarily parted to greet him.
Over at Leo’s table, Leo explained to Gabi that he was participating in Trivia Night in hopes of getting his brain back in shape post-concussion. He didn’t have high hopes, though, as his trivia knowledge essentially began and ended with pop music. Gabi asked why Dimitri wasn’t with Leo, and he caught her off guard by revealing he had broken up with Dimitri. Leo had realized Javi was the love of his life, and he regretted he hadn’t realized it sooner. “You should,” Gabi took as a parting shot before flouncing off.
Back at Theo and Jada’s table, Jada offered to get everyone drinks, but Theo declined and remained standoffish. Gabi joined Jada, while Philip was left to make awkward small talk with Theo. It didn’t take long for Philip to bring up Theo’s sudden departure from DiMera, and he half-jokingly, half-seriously offered to bring Theo on at Titan. The conversation didn’t get any less fraught when Leo plopped himself down at the table and immediately began interrogating Theo about his decision to leave DiMera.
Meanwhile, at the bar, Jada confided in Gabi her fears about tonight being her “last date” with Theo. She hadn’t expected Theo’s reaction to Shawn and her temporarily living together. Gabi tried to get Jada to see things from Theo’s perspective. She stated her certainty that something else was bothering Theo. A commotion at the table drew the friends’ attention, and they returned to Theo who snapped at Leo to leave him alone.
The Brady Pub bunch

Leo beat a quick retreat back to his table, and a concerned Jada asked if Theo was okay. He claimed he was fine. Eyebrows raised all around, though, when Theo downed the drink Philip had offered in one gulp.
Roman started the first round of trivia and asked a question about the smallest country in the world. Jada urged Theo to answer, but he stayed quiet. Philip piped up with the correct answer: Vatican City. Theo did correctly answer a later question about the Academy Awards, which seemed to slightly lighten his mood.
Throughout the trivia session, Leo joined in with wrong answers and non-sequiturs. He decided to cut his losses and leave, but did an abrupt turnaround when Roman announced the next trivia topic: pop music. Leo answered the first question correctly and quit while he was ahead, bowing out of Trivia Night. Theo proclaimed he would be following Leo’s lead, gave his apologies for calling it an early night, and walked out as well. Gabi followed him.
Outside, Gabi found Theo sitting on the bench, apparently a world away. She again encouraged her friend to open up. Theo thanked her but stressed he needed to be alone. After Theo left, Gabi went back inside and made an excuse for Theo that he hadn’t been feeling well. Jada said she should leave, too, since she no longer had a partner; Gabi and Philip persuaded her to stay and join their team.
Back in Horton Town Square, Leo called Marlena to tell her about his adventure at Trivia Night and to thank her for helping him with Javi. Leo was feeling much more optimistic. Buoyed by his hopeful words, Leo turned and saw Javi staring back at him.
