Days Recap: Days of our Lives Recap August 10: Theo Realizes Lexie Has Been Lying to Him

In today’s Days of our Lives recap for Monday, August 10, 2026, Stephanie and Alex made new living arrangements, EJ’s mounting troubles were nothing to sneeze at, and Chanel and Johnny dealt with heaping helpings of family drama.

At the hospital, Alex informed Stephanie of his plans to move into the Brady Pub with Kelsey until Joy had recovered. Stephanie insisted that would not be happening because she would move out of the apartment instead. Alex protested, but Stephanie argued that Alex shouldn’t have to cause any more upheaval for Kelsey and that the apartment was technically in his name anyway. Alex asked his wife if she intended on just leaving the apartment…or leaving him entirely.

Stephanie reassured Alex that their separation would only be temporary. She could stay with Jada in the meantime, which was right across the hall. The thought of Stephanie being so close seemed to sell Alex on the idea, so he promised they could still see each other frequently. Stephanie sarcastically asked if her close proximity would be a problem for Joy, but Alex pledged they would make it work and make time for each other.

Later, Stephanie stopped by Jada’s place and caught her in the midst of primping for a date with Shawn. Stephanie offered to make herself scarce, but Jada said she had plenty of time for her BFF before she had to go. Stephanie readily accepted the invitation and filled Jada in on the situation with Joy and Alex. Jada assured Stephanie she had no problem with Stephanie crashing at the apartment, as it would give Jada the opportunity to return the favor after Stephanie had given her a place to stay. Besides, Shawn had become literal roommates with Jada, so his old room was available.

Jada’s disclosure briefly pivoted the conversation to the growing relationship between Shawn and her. Jada marveled at how things had turned out, and Stephanie was happy for her friend. She admitted, though, that she wasn’t so certain of her own relationship. If Alex — who had shown himself to be a wonderful and caring dad — ever had to choose between Stephanie and Kelsey, Stephanie already knew what choice he would make.

At Johnny and Chanel’s place, Paulina reunited a fully recovered Trey with his happy mom. Chanel thanked Paulina for taking care of Trey while he had been sick and expressed anticipation for her imminent labor, which would be induced in three weeks. Both Chanel and Paulina looked forward to meeting the newest member of the family and to easing their worries about the effect of Chanel’s cancer treatments on the baby.

When Paulina mentioned Trey’s birthday party, the talk of parties turned her thoughts to Abe. His birthday was the next day, and Paulina couldn’t help but wonder if he planned to celebrate with Lexie out of town. Chanel said she would ask Theo about any birthday plans, if Paulina wanted. Paulina admitted she had a personalized gift for Abe she had gotten before everything had fallen apart, but she didn’t want to give Abe the wrong idea. Chanel believed Abe would be touched that Paulina still cared about him; Paulina wished she could stop caring about her ex-husband so much.

Later, in Horton Town Square, Chanel (with Trey in his stroller) spotted Alex, who was out on his own stroll with Kelsey. The friends warmly greeted each other and caught up. They remarked on how much they had grown from their “more adventurous days,” and they envisioned a future where their kids would become friends and attend high school together. Chanel listened with sympathy as Alex outlined his latest issues since Joy’s accident. She offered her babysitting services, but he begged off because he didn’t want to put more stress on her.

Chanel agreed to a compromise: a future play-date between Trey and Kelsey. The new parents also agreed to continue being support systems for each other. With that pledge in mind, Chanel parted ways with a friendly warning for Alex: don't let Joy interfere in his marriage, as the other woman had done with Chanel’s marriage.

Prior to her chat with Stephanie, Jada received another visitor at the police station, Lani. After a bit of reminiscing about Lani’s days on the force, Lani got down to the business at hand: Lexie’s disappearance. She updated Jada on the resurrected DiMera’s sudden and suspicious departure from town. While Jada agreed Lexie’s behavior was odd, she couldn’t use police resources to find Lexie in the absence of definitive proof something illegal had occurred. She could, however, run a welfare check on Lexie, which she promised to do for a grateful Lani.

Meanwhile, at DiMera Enterprises, Theo made a call to his Grandma Celeste in his office. Johnny arrived after the call had ended, and Theo confided in his cousin that he was more worried about his mom than ever. He hadn’t been able to talk to his grandma, but he had left a message and noted that the call had an international ring tone. When he had talked with Lexie earlier, no such tone had been present, leading Theo to the unsettling conclusion that Lexie had lied about visiting Celeste and was in fact still somewhere in the United States.

Lani later joined the conversation, so Theo gave her the latest. When Lani mentioned that Kristen and Gwen had also gone missing, the trio pondered if the disappearances could be connected. Lani had learned that Dimitri likely had Gwen, but she believed the sudden vanishing of two DiMera sisters was probably not a coincidence. Johnny left to question EJ, since his dad had been involved in Lexie’s resurrection and since he secretly knew EJ was behind Kristen’s absence.

Once they were alone, Lani concurred with Theo’s suspicion that Lexie wasn’t in South Africa. For one, no commercial flight records could be found for Lexie. And while she was last tracked to the air strip, Lexie couldn’t have used the DiMera jet because Chad had let Leo borrow it for his trip to Alamainia. Theo fretted about what he or his dad could have done wrong to compel Lexie to leave them.

Lani comforted Theo and affirmed her theory that Lexie could be sick and wanting to hide her condition from her loved ones. She recalled spotting Lexie alone and looking very unwell not that long ago. Theo also remembered a couple of instances where his mom had not seemed herself, most recently during their Christmas in July celebration. Maybe his mom had gone off with Dr. Rolf somewhere for treatment because her medication hadn’t been working properly. Lani vowed she would help Theo get to the bottom of it.

Coughs, Colds, and Confessions

At the DiMera mansion, Cat greeted a sickly EJ. He was in the midst of a coughing spell and brushed it off as a cold. Cat mentioned she had stopped by earlier and Rita had claimed EJ was unavailable, yet she had seen the entrance to the secret tunnel closing out of the corner of her eye. She questioned what EJ had been up to in the tunnels. EJ politely declared it “family business” and therefore none of her concern.

Cat contested that if she became EJ’s personal assistant, his family business would be her concern. She asked EJ to trust her, as she knew him – faults and all – and would look out for his best interests. EJ did trust Cat, and when he stated with sincerity he knew her as well, she seemed affected by his words. When Cat brought EJ some water and their hands touched, they shared a moment…but it was interrupted by Johnny’s arrival.

Cat gave father and son privacy and eavesdropped just outside the door. She heard Johnny confront EJ about Lexie’s disappearance and seemingly also heard EJ confess that Lexie was dying again. Continuing his streak of honesty with Johnny, EJ told his son about Lexie’s deterioration, about her plans to swap places with Kristen and go to the island, and about her current secret stay at the mansion. Johnny bemoaned the unfairness of it all, especially for Abe and Theo – who had a right to know.

When EJ insinuated it was for the best that Lexie couldn’t tell anyone about what had happened, Johnny got angry and stormed off. EJ stopped him before he got out the door and apologized for the cold remark. He begged Johnny to stay quiet, not for his sake but for Lexie’s sake. Lexie wanted to spare Abe and Theo, and EJ wanted to honor Lexie’s dying wish. After EJ said he’d made a promise, Johnny shot back that he hadn’t and departed.

EJ went back inside and tried to compose himself. Cat reapproached and observed that EJ was looking even more worse for wear. He conceded he was burning up, and Cat assessed that he’d come down with a fever. She offered to escort him up to bed, which lightened EJ’s spirits enough for him to make a flirty joke.

Meanwhile, Johnny returned to Theo’s office and announced he’d talked with his dad. But when Theo and Lani asked if EJ had revealed anything, Johnny shook his head and claimed EJ had no knowledge of Lexie’s whereabouts.
