What Happened on Days of our Lives

Outside the DiMera mansion, Rafe and Jada prepared to search the crypt. Meanwhile, inside the crypt, Kristen hit Peter over the head, and he crumpled to the floor. He attempted to crawl toward the vial, but Tony scooped it up and said it was still sealed. Chad turned over a now-unconscious Peter to get his key to the crypt. The sight of her brother made Kristen distraught, and she tearfully apologized for what she had done to him.
Once he opened the door, Tony managed to get Kristen outside with a promise that they would help Peter. Chad and EJ, meanwhile, carefully picked up Theo and took him out of the crypt as well. Later, the brothers settled Theo on the sofa inside the mansion. Rafe and Jada had met up with the missing DiMeras, and everyone tended to Theo, who remained unconscious. Jada told him he still owed her a date night.
After calling an ambulance and law enforcement backup, Rafe and Jada began taking statements from the DiMeras, beginning with EJ. Rafe continued to cast doubt on EJ’s lack of involvement in the ordeal and vowed he would bring the DiMera down one day. The DiMeras told the commissioner and the agent about Peter’s claims regarding Stefan. They promised to investigate the veracity of Stefan’s supposed death.
Jada and Tony stepped outside briefly so that Jada could contact a hazmat team about the sarin gas. Tony confirmed that Kristen had not escaped from prison but had been taken as well.
When Tony and Jada returned inside, Kristen worried over her brother Peter. Jada assured her that a medical team would look after him. Rafe had gone down to the crypt to meet with the forensics team and to examine Peter for himself. Kristen defended Peter, despite Tony’s assertions that their brother had gone off the rails. Kristen also wanted to see Rachel, but Jada told the group they needed to make official statements first.
During a private moment, Kristen lashed out at EJ anew for his role in Rachel’s admission to Bayview. Javi soon arrived on the scene with his partner and examined all the DiMeras. He wanted to take Theo and Kristen to the hospital to get treated, and everyone else to get confirmation that they had no ill effects from the potential sarin gas exposure. Peter – whose condition was the most dire – was in the process of being transported to the hospital.
At the Horton house, Julie informed Maggie over the phone that the annual Christmas Eve celebration had been cancelled. Just as she was bemoaning the turn of events, Lani and Eli appeared, armed with gifts and good cheer. Julie happily greeted them and declared it already felt more like Christmas. The couple explained Jules and Carver were with Abe and Paulina, but would be by for a visit later. After they noted the lack of holiday décor, Julie explained how she didn’t feel right celebrating after what had happened to Chad and Theo.
Lani said part of the reason they had left the twins behind was to lift Abe and Paulina’s spirits. Following some discussion about the recent hardships, Julie apologized for not setting up a proper Christmas. Eli and Lani assured her that being with family was the only thing that mattered. They vowed to help her revive the Christmas spirit. While Julie and Lani admired cookies the twins had made, Eli went upstairs to fetch decorations and the Horton Christmas ornaments.
Eli suggested Julie hang her Grandma Alice’s ornament. After she completed the tradition, she gave Grandpa Tom’s ornament to Eli. He hung the bulb beside Alice’s ornament. Julie then hung her own ornament. Eli handed her Doug’s ornament, and Julie grew emotional.
Addressing her beloved, Julie softly stated that while the house didn’t feel the same without his beautiful music, Doug would always be with her in spirit and in heart. Lani and Eli enveloped a now-smiling Julie in a hug.
Julie’s spirits were lifted even more when she received a call from Chad telling her he was safe. Julie was overjoyed but slightly sad when she had to break the news that Thomas and Charlotte were in Boston with Jennifer and Jack. She stressed to Chad that the kids had only been relocated temporarily for their own safety. Chad had his own bad news to break: Theo had been hurt and was in the hospital.
Following the call, Julie told Lani and Eli about Theo. She had been so grateful for the way the Carvers had stepped up for her when Chad had gone missing. She wanted to return the support. With that, Julie announced they were going to the hospital.
At the hospital, Kristen waited anxiously for word on Peter. She called Bayview to speak with Rachel, but was refused contact by the staff. Chad tried to comfort her, and she pleaded with him not to disclose what he had found out about EJ’s shooting. He agreed and then called Abe and Jennifer. The call with Jennifer was apparently cordial, and she had promised to tell Thomas and Charlotte about their dad’s return after they came back from a holiday outing with Jack.
Tony returned from his examination and proclaimed he’d gotten a clean bill of health. He had also called Anna, who was ecstatic and on her way back to Salem. Tony expressed gratitude for his brothers and for the family coming together. Chad approached EJ and offered to call Johnny or someone else for his brother. EJ, with a sad smile, turned down the request.
After Jada and he told the DiMeras they could sign their statements after Christmas was over, Rafe made a call to Cat and told her about finding the missing family. He convened with Jada and discussed the discovery of a hidden camera inside the crypt. Rafe had contacted Vivian, who had confirmed Stefan’s death and had apparently promised to send evidence. Rafe dreaded having to tell Gabi if Stefan was indeed dead.
Chad thanked Rafe and Jada for never giving up the search for them. He later encountered Javi, who provided an update about the various ailing family members. Theo was in stable condition. Kristen had been prescribed antibiotics, which appeared to be working. Peter, however, was barely alive. Decisions would need to be made by a family member about his care going forward.
Meanwhile, in the secret lab, EJ paid the mystery inhabitant of the glowing capsule another visit. He seemed shaken as he sat down. “I am sorry for what happened,” he said with dejection. “So very sorry.”
