n the DiMera living room, EJ was leaning in for a kiss with Cat when Susan walked in. Susan yelled at EJ for hitting on his brother’s girlfriend. EJ apologized to Cat. “I must say, I’m not feeling very well,” EJ said. Susan reached her arms around Cat to feel EJ’s head for a fever, squishing Cat between them both. “I’m probably just overtired,” EJ said. EJ asked for a raincheck, and Cat left after EJ promised to update her on Chad.

“What’s going on with Chad?” Susan asked. EJ told Susan that Chad and Theo were missing. “I am worried that you are up to no good,” Susan said. EJ vehemently denied that he had anything to do with the disappearance of his family. Susan suggested Cat as a suspect. “There is something about [Cat] that I just do not trust,” Susan said. EJ groaned, and he asked Susan to trust that he was fine. After Susan headed up to bed, EJ got a text, and he rushed out of the house.

Susan returned to the living room to retrieve her purse, and she saw Dr. Rolf exiting the tunnels. “What in the tarnation are you doing here?” Susan asked. Rolf explained that EJ had offered him a room to stay in while he was visiting Salem. “What are you doing down there?” Susan asked. With a chuckle, Rolf said he was not doing anything but reading a book in his room.

At the Hernandez house, Rafe coordinated on the phone with Jada about the threat to the DiMeras and a protective detail for the family. As Javi returned home, he overheard Rafe talking about assigning someone to watch over Trey. “What’s going on with Trey?” Javi asked. After Rafe ended his call, he told Javi about the missing DiMeras.

“I have half a mind to move in with Johnny and Chanel. No way I’m losing another kid,” Javi said. Rafe assured Javi that there was no evidence that Trey was in danger, and that he had suggested a security detail out of an abundance of caution. Javi sighed with relief. Cat knocked on the door. Confused, Javi asked Cat why she was there. Cat lied and said she wanted to deliver a gift card to thank the family for having taken care of her nephew.

“It was our pleasure,” Javi said. Javi announced that he needed to meet Leo for dinner, and he left. “Well, that was close,” Rafe whispered to Cat as he pulled her into the house. Cat explained that she had texted, but Rafe had not responded. Cat told Rafe about her visit at the mansion and how she had drugged EJ. “Are you crazy?” Rafe yelled. “What choice did I have? Chad was missing?” Cat countered.

When Cat argued that Rafe would have done the same thing, Rafe reminded Cat that, unlike him, she was not a trained agent. “I thought I made myself very clear that you were not to go off on your own and to take matters into your own hands,” Rafe said. Cat argued that her plan had worked, and EJ had no idea. “It’s why I chose this drug in particular. Because when EJ came around, he didn’t know he had even passed out. He thought he had dozed off for one minute,” Cat said. Rafe asked Cat if there were any obvious signs that EJ had been drugged. Cat thought about how EJ had almost kissed her.

“Nothing out of the ordinary,” Cat said. Cat told Rafe about how she had searched the house, and she showed him pictures of the secret room in the tunnels. “This wouldn’t be the first time that EJ has had someone hiding out in his basement,” Rafe noted. Cat pointed out that the occupant had not been Kristen because the clothing was for men.

“This does not confirm that EJ is behind Chad’s disappearance,” Rafe said. Rafe argued that Cat had risked blowing her cover and losing her life for evidence that did not help them find Chad. “It’s not for nothing, okay?,” Cat said. Frustrated. Rafe yelled, “You’re just not getting it!” Rafe told Cat that she had acted recklessly and unethically. “You nearly jeopardized this entire investigation!” Rafe added. Rafe warned Cat that if she acted on her own again, he would have Shane pull Cat off the case. Cat apologized.

Leo was working on an article in the pub about Chad’s disappearance. Gwen walked in and read the headline on Leo’s computer. “Chad’s missing?” Gwen exclaimed. Leo confirmed that Chad was missing, and he told Gwen to stop pretending to care. Gwen reminded Leo that he had been at odds with Chad once upon a time. Leo agreed, and he said he regretted his former behavior. “As do I. and I’m not proud of it either,” Gwen admitted. Leo suggested that he and Gwen work together to find Chad. Leo argued that the prime suspect was EJ.

“I’m a bit skeptical,” Gwen said. Gwen thought about when she had questioned EJ about whether he had made Tony disappear the same way they had made Dimitri disappear. “It just seems a bit extreme to do something so cruel,” Gwen said. “Since when do you defend EJ DiMera?” Leo asked. Gwen argued that EJ cared about Chad. Leo accused Gwen of having a crush on EJ. Annoyed, Gwen walked out.

When Javi arrived for dinner, he told Leo that Theo was missing. Javi explained Rafe’s concern that someone was going after members of the DiMera family. Leo gasped. “[Rafe said] there’s no reason for us to think that Tesoro, I mean Trey, would be in any kind of danger,” Javi said. Javi admitted he was worried, and Leo agreed. Leo wanted to question EJ, but Javi suggested they follow EJ instead. Leo suggested they review Tate’s video footage from the gala.

“Wait a minute! The gala was the same day that Kristen busted out of prison,” Leo said. Leo argued that Kristen might have also been kidnapped. “I believe [that EJ’s clinic] could be the key to whatever Machiavellian plot he’s cooking up,” Leo said. Leo and Javi pulled up the copy of Tate’s gala video on Leo’s phone, and they reviewed footage of EJ arguing with Gwen. “If only we could hear what they were saying,” Leo lamented. Javi noted that the argument did not look suspicious. Leo noted that it was suspicious that Gwen had been in the secret lab and was living at the DiMera mansion. “Maybe [Gwen] is EJ’s partner in crime,” Leo said.

In the DiMera crypt, Tony slept while Chad, Kristen, and Theo bickered about whether EJ had trapped them in the crypt. “If EJ was after our inheritance, there are better ways to go about it than locking us in here,” Theo argued. Kristen countered that EJ could only amass power if they died or stayed locked up forever.

“We are DiMeras. We will win,” Chad said. Kristen asked about a plan. Chad suggested they stand on one another’s shoulders to go out through the roof. The three made an attempt, but Kristen fell off the top and hurt her ankle. Kristen lashed out at Chad when he attempted to help her. When Kristen calmed down, she asked him for more information about Rachel. When their discussion of Rachel turned into bickering again, Theo told them to shut up.

“My dad told me that it was a mistake trying to work with the DiMeras,” Theo said. Theo argued that he believed his father had a point. Kristen told Theo that she was sorry that he had been locked up because of his family. With a sigh, Chad argued that if EJ were to blame, he would need to remove a lot more family members. Chad asked about Meghan. Kristen noted that Meghan would be unlikely to resurface for her inheritance because she did not want to go to prison. Chad noted that Stefan had cut off contact from the family.

“Peter. Everybody forgets about Peter,” Chad said. Kristen countered that time would be better spent finding a way out than naming suspects. When Kristen mentioned she had had no luck digging, Theo grabbed the crypt vases off the front of two name plates. “Now we have shovels,” Theo said. The men began to dig into the floor until Theo hit something hard. Theo pulled a human bone out of the hole.

Rolf worked in the secret lab at the free clinic on his serum to revive the dead. After Rolf left the clinic to run an errand, EJ and Gwen met up there to talk. “Are you behind the DiMeras going missing?” Gwen asked. “Don’t you start,” EJ growled. Gwen explained that she was concerned that EJ’s actions would harm her investment.

“You said to me that you got this miracle drug called Versavix, yes? And that if Rolf mixes his serum in with it, it can become this very powerful concoction. One that can expand his abilities to bring people back to life, yes?” Gwen said. EJ said yes. “What’s the issue?” EJ asked. Gwen told EJ that she was running out of patience. EJ laughed.

“You’re seriously wondering why Rolf hasn’t put a rush on the miracle of life?” EJ asked. Gwen said yes. EJ lost his temper. “I have far more pressing matters to attend to than assuaging your restlessness. My two brothers are missing!” EJ screamed. Rolf returned, and Gwen asked about the progress of his work.

“Quite frankly, we have a bigger problem on our hands. Your rather eccentric mother, she spotted me at the mansion,” Rolf told EJ. EJ chuckled ruefully. “The last thing I need right now,” EJ said.
