What happened on Days of our Lives

Rafe and Eli arrived at Vivian’s house in Alamainia. “If Vivian is responsible for the kidnappings and for the hell that Theo and the DiMeras had to go through, we got to make damn sure that she doesn’t get away with it,” Eli said. Rafe agreed.
Vivian marched into the living room as Rafe insulted her. Vivian dismissed Rafe’s apology. “I don’t care about much of anything anymore,” Vivian said. Vivian noted that without her sons or Stefano, she had nothing left in her life. Rafe and Eli offered their condolences. Vivian blamed Lani for Stefan’s death. “We are all aware that Stefan’s transplanted heart gave out, and that is a tragedy,” Rafe said. Eli agreed through gritted teeth.
“And you had the nerve to bring Bo and Hope Brady here to suggest that I faked my son’s death?” Vivian said. Rafe apologized for any pain caused, and he thanked Vivian for letting the authorities exhume Stefan from his grave. “I just didn’t have the energy to stop it,” Vivian said. As Vivian turned away, she smiled to herself.
“I know how painful these questions must be for you, but I hope you understand why we have to ask them,” Rafe said. Vivian noted that they had enough evidence to show that her son was dead. “Then maybe you’ll have the decency to leave me alone so I can mourn in peace,” Vivian said. Rafe asked Vivian what she knew about the DiMera kidnappings. Vivian claimed she only knew what she had read about in the news.
“We think he had an accomplice. Someone who also had an interest in a bigger piece of the DiMera fortune,” Eli said. Vivian said she had no interest in scheming. “All I want is my son back!” Vivian yelled. Rafe asked Vivian why Peter had told the police that he had spoken to her about the kidnappings. “Yes, I spoke with Peter. He was looking for Stefan. I had no idea why,” Vivian said. Eli said Peter had claimed that it had been Vivian’s idea to hold the DiMeras in the family crypt.
“Maybe he took that from my prior example,” Vivian argued. Vivian stressed that she would not have advised Peter to lock himself in with his captives. “That’s his fatal mistake,” Vivian said. Rafe noted that Peter had not needed to be in the crypt because there had been a video feed of the people inside it. “But you already knew that, didn’t you, Vivian?” Rafe asked. Vivian played dumb. Rafe told Vivian that they had traced the feed signal to Alamainia.
“Impossible,” Vivian said. Vivian told Rafe and Eli that they could talk to anyone in the house as they searched. “I have nothing to hide,” Vivian said. Rafe and Eli did a room-to-room search of the palatial estate, and they found a tablet computer with a live video feed of Rafe's office. Rafe explained to Eli that they had moved the camera to Rafe’s office so that it would continue to transmit a traceable signal. “Directly to this house,” Eli said.

Outside the Brady Pub, Leo called Javi’s phone and left a voicemail. Leo explained that he had heard that Javi’s father was doing well, and he had wanted to tell Javi that he missed him. “I’m thinking about you. Always,” Leo said.
Inside the pub, Gwen slowly counted out enough change to pay for her coffee. “It’s on the house,” Roman said. Leo walked in as Gwen was gathering her change off the table. Leo took note, and he asked Gwen if she was having financial difficulties. Leo asked Gwen if she had thought about his suggestion to get rid of Dimitri.
“I need to unfreeze [my] assets,” Gwen grumbled. Leo noted that Gwen was clearly open to getting rid of Dimitri. Gwen told Leo that if he could not stop thinking about Dimitri, he should talk to a therapist instead of plotting how to get rid of his former lover. Leo told Gwen to give Marlena a call and sort out her issues.
As Leo walked over to the square, he ran into Dimitri. “And though you’re obviously trying to avoid me, it appears that fate had other plans,” Dimitri said with a grin. Leo chalked the run-in up to coincidence. Dimitri asked Leo what had happened to the fun Leo he used to know. Leo noted that he had given up thrill-seeking in the pursuit of becoming a better person.
“Did that make you happy?” Dimitri asked. “For a while there, I was happier than I’d ever been in my life,” Leo said. Leo blamed Dimitri for destroying his bliss. As the two men argued, Dimitri said that it was obvious that Javi had not contacted Leo since he had left town.
“It’s none of your business,” Leo said. Dimitri argued that Leo could not get past his feelings for him if he avoided him. “You don’t trust yourself alone with me, do you?” Dimitri said. Leo scoffed. Dimitri challenged Leo to take him back to his hotel room. Leo accepted Dimitri’s challenge. Dimitri followed Leo up to his hotel room. Dimitri suggested they order mimosas.
“You say I haven’t changed? Look at you, still so full of yourself,” Leo said. Dimitri noted that it was hot in the room, and he took his shirt off. Leo asked Dimitri to get dressed and leave so he could get back to work. Dimitri took off his pants over Leo’s objections. Dimitri climbed onto the bed, and he started to bounce. “You need to put your clothes on, and you need to leave now!” Leo yelled. Dimitri asked Leo to climb into bed with him to prove that he was no longer interested. “If you’re not going to leave, I am,” Leo said. Leo walked out. “He’ll be back,” Dimitri said.

In the DiMera living room, EJ was staring at the portrait of Stefano when Cat arrived with Stefano’s remains. “I thought it would be easier if I got them myself,” Cat said. As Cat handed the urn to EJ, their hands brushed. A flustered Cat pulled her hand away. EJ thanked Cat. “How are you doing?” Cat asked. EJ said he was okay. EJ said they had planned a visitation so that anyone could stop by.
“It’s simply going to be an opportunity for everyone to say their goodbyes in their own way,” EJ said. Susan walked into the living room. “What are you doing here, Ms. Greene?” Susan asked. EJ asked his mother to check her tone, and he explained that Cat had picked up Stefano’s urn so that he would not have to do it. Cat fidgeted under Susan’s scowl. Susan asked EJ if Cat had expected sex in exchange for her gesture.
“Mother!” EJ said. EJ ordered Susan to apologize to Cat. Susan refused. “Cat is sick and tired of being treated like a pariah by people in this town, and I will not allow it to go on in this home. Besides, you of all people should understand what that feels like,” EJ said. After a moment, Susan said she understood, and she apologized.

After Cat left, Susan told EJ that she was genuinely sorry for his loss. Susan urged EJ to put the urn in the crypt. EJ admitted he was hesitant to ever go back in there. Susan urged EJ to conquer his fear. Susan promised to make all the arrangements for the placement of Stefano’s urn in the crypt. Susan told EJ that when she had felt Stefano’s presence, she must have felt the presence of his bones in the crypt. Susan studied the urn. “I just cannot believe that I was wrong about you when I told them that you were alive,” Susan said. “You can’t win them all,” EJ said.
Cat joined Gwen at the pub. “I can’t tell you how good it is to have a friend in this god-awful bloody town,” Gwen said. “Back at you,” Cat countered. Gwen asked Cat if she ever thought about leaving Salem. “If my family weren’t here, I’d leave in a heartbeat,” Cat admitted. Gwen noted that her family did not care if she left. With a chuckle, Gwen noted that after living with the DiMeras, she saw what a truly toxic family looked like. Cat mentioned that she had dropped off Stefano’s remains.
“EJ seemed genuinely grief-stricken,” Cat said. Gwen noted that EJ was hard to read, but he was more likely experiencing self-pity than grief. “When I saw you two talking at the Horton clinic gala, it seemed pretty intense,” Cat said. Cat noted that the passion had made her wonder if Gwen was romantically involved with EJ. “No!” Gwen said. Gwen explained that they had likely been talking about football.
“When I walked in on you two yesterday at the mansion, I also thought,” Cat said with a shrug. Gwen stressed that she only lived with EJ. Gwen told Cat about when she had arrived in Salem and lashed out at Abigail. “I felt like she was living the life I thought that I deserved,” Gwen said. Gwen explained she had slept with Chad to hurt Abigail. Cat was stunned. Gwen stressed that was all in the past, and she had moved back into the mansion purely for shelter.
“Now that Dimitri’s moved in, do you really want to stay living there?” Cat asked. Gwen noted that she was not happy, but she had a plan to force Dimitri out. Cat asked about Gwen’s plan, but Gwen kept mum. Gwen promised Cat that she would make sure Dimitri would never return. Gwen’s phone rang with a call from Vivian. “All is going according to plan,” Vivian said.
