Days Recap: Days of our Lives Recap, February 4, 2026: Eli and Rafe uncover the truth about Stefan’s disappearance

On Days of our Lives today, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, Dimitri and Gwen launch the latest battle in their war, Liam tries to make things right with Abe, Philip pleases and disappoints Gabi, and Vivian’s lies begin to unravel.

In Leo’s hotel room, Dimitri tried out some sexy poses in the bed for what he believed to be Leo’s imminent return. He spotted a picture of Leo and Javi on the nightstand and angrily pushed it down. Following a prolonged period of waiting, Dimitri sighed in frustration, got out of the bed, and began dressing.

Meanwhile, at the DiMera mansion, Gwen received a set of divorce papers. She snapped at the man who delivered the papers about the status of her own divorce papers and tried to return Dimitri’s version. The man left Gwen with the papers, and she growled when she read about Dimitri’s demand that she receive nothing.

When Dimitri returned to the mansion, he was greeted outside by the deliveryman, who served Dimitri with Gwen’s divorce papers. He tore them open and saw Gwen’s demands: half of Dimitri’s fortune, as well as $100,000 a month in alimony. “Over my dead body,” Dimitri shouted to the departing deliveryman. He stormed inside and confronted Gwen with the papers. The exes traded barbs about their respective chances of winning the case.

Gwen again lashed out at Dimitri for breaking her heart and her relationship with her best friend in the process. Dimitri begrudgingly admitted that he had felt guilty for the way he had treated Gwen, although he made no apologies for being true to himself. Dimitri had even been willing to share his fortune with Gwen out of that guilt. Dimitri stressed that any pity he had felt for Gwen was long gone. “You cost me my fortune, my freedom, and the man I love,” he scornfully added.

Once Gwen’s role in his abduction was exposed, Dimitri vowed she would be the one left with nothing. Gwen ridiculed Dimitri’s delusion that anyone would believe his story. Dimitri announced he was done waiting on the “idiot” police, and he would take matters into his own hands. Dimitri planned to use his resources to revisit Alamainia and track down the site of his captivity. Gwen seemed rattled by Dimitri’s declaration.

Liam visits Abe, hat in hand

At Abe and Paulina’s place, Abe answered the door to Liam, who compelled Abe to let him say his piece. Abe acquiesced but did not invite Liam inside. Liam expressed his sincere regret for the role he had played in Theo’s captivity. He insisted that he had only stocked the crypt and moved the sarcophagus. Abe blasted Liam for not saying anything after he had learned about the kidnappings.

Liam defended that he had been focused on his son at the time. He felt extreme guilt for hurting Abe after Abe had been so good to him. He wanted to make things right and mentioned his upcoming meeting with the sketch artist. Abe testily reminded Liam that he would face jail time if he didn’t assist with the investigation. Liam stressed he would make the effort regardless of his own fate, offered another apology, and then departed.

Later, Paulina arrived home and immediately sensed something was bothering Abe. He told her about Liam’s visit. She was irate that the “lowlife” had shown up at their house and raged that he belonged in prison. When Abe told her about Liam’s meeting with the sketch artist, Paulina decided she would go to the police station and give the young man a piece of her mind.

At the police station, Liam provided a detailed description of the man who had approached him with the job offer. The sketch artist showed Liam his rendering of the man, and Liam confirmed it was nearly an exact match.

Paulina showed up and angrily introduced herself as the mayor, Abe’s wife, and Theo’s stepmother. She laid into Liam and implied he should be charged with aiding and abetting. Liam attempted another apology and showed her the sketch. The artist was optimistic they could find the man if he had a criminal record. “Before he finds me first,” Liam responded with worry.

Philip plans a romantic getaway

At the Titan offices, an entering Gabi startled Philip, who promptly closed his laptop. When Gabi inquired about his actions, Philip reluctantly admitted he had been planning a Valentine’s Day surprise. Gabi perked up and wanted details, citing her impatience. Philip spun a story about taking Gabi to an all-day ring-toss competition, given her affinity for cornhole. After noting Gabi’s alarmed expression, he said he was joking and admitted he wanted to go away with her for a weekend at a Miami resort.

Gabi seemed hesitant and claimed she’d had an unpleasant experience at the resort, so Philip suggested another destination. Gabi smiled and said she wanted to make new, better memories with Philip at the resort he had in mind. She sealed the deal with a kiss. Gabi also confessed she had another reason for showing up at the office: a favor from Philip. He said he’d do anything, but when Gabi elaborated that the favor involved contacting Vivian, he deadpanned, “Anything but that.”

Gabi explained Rafe’s attempts to verify Stefan’s death. She didn’t have confidence that Vivian would tell Rafe the truth, but she did believe Vivian might confide in her “other son.” Philip was sympathetic but clarified that he and Vivian had a falling out, so he didn’t think Vivian would respond to his overtures. Gabi quizzed Philip about the reason for the falling out. Philip had a memory about Vivian selling him out to Xander, but he remained vague in his explanation to Gabi. Philip asserted he had wanted to put his toxic relationship with Vivian behind him. Gabi wished that Stefan had done the same.

Vivian spins a web of deceit

In Alamainia, Rafe and Eli presented Vivian with the tablet they had found. Vivian was able to talk her way out of it and redirected the conversation to Dimitri. She claimed that Dimitri had shown up one day and demanded a place to stay at her estate. Vivian had been too grief-stricken over Stefan’s illness to protest. Dimitri, Vivian stated, had overstayed his welcome until he had suddenly confiscated Vivian’s jet to return to Salem; he had also left all his clothes behind.

Rafe and Eli stepped aside and discussed the feasibility of Vivian’s claims. They questioned why Dimitri would have left all his belongings or why he would have needed to go after the DiMera money when he already had the Von Leuschner fortune. Both agreed that some people were not happy with any amount of money and always sought more. When the agents returned to Vivian, they told her they’d be analyzing the clothes and other pertinent evidence.

Rafe also informed Vivian that they’d be conducting a forensic analysis on Stefan’s supposed remains. The topic of Stefan made Vivian think of her “one remaining son,” Philip. She let Rafe know of her unhappiness over Philip’s romance with Gabi. Rafe defended his sister and said that Gabi had only ever loved Stefan with her whole heart. Vivian sneered and saw the men on their way.

Later, Vivian met with a new henchman, who appeared to be the same man from Liam’s sketch of Peter’s accomplice. The man congratulated Vivian on her success with fooling the FBI agents. He also commended Gwen on sending Dimitri’s clothes for the perfect setup. Vivian was confident her servants gave the proper responses regarding Dimitri’s alleged stay in Alamainia. She and the man patted themselves on the back for covering their tracks.

Outside, Rafe and Eli remained bothered by the seemingly tidy nature of Vivian’s story. They realized that Vivian’s staff would simply follow her orders, so they decided to seek out a “disgruntled” ex-employee.

Later, a woman approached Rafe and Eli; she had worked for Vivian the prior year. Vivian had fired her for a minor mishap. Eli and Rafe interrogated the woman about Dimitri. The woman said there had been a man on the estate, but his name hadn’t been Dimitri. It had been Stefan, and he had been a captive.

The woman recounted how she had encountered Stefan in a locked room. He had been given free rein of the estate but had been kept under constant guard. Stefan had told the woman that Vivian had kidnapped him from his hometown of Salem to keep him away from his wife.

The woman was saddened and surprised after the agents updated her on Stefan’s passing. He had seemed healthy and determined to get back to his life. A stunned Rafe processed the news that Stefan had not willingly left Salem…or Gabi.
