What Happened on Days of our Lives

At Bayview, Sophia conspired with Rachel about her next outing. Rachel felt guilty for stealing the money from her dad, but Sophia assured her it was for a good cause and that they’d pay the money back. Sophia was impressed that Rachel already had their escape routine down cold, and she promised to reward Rachel with a big meal from the burger joint. The girls celebrated their ingenuity. Later, a nurse checked in Sophia’s room – where Rachel was in the bed -- and seemed to notice something amiss.

At the DiMera mansion, Gwen welcomed Kristen home. As the two friends got to chatting, Kristen disappointed Gwen by revealing that she didn’t plan to remain at the mansion because of her friction with EJ. To Kristen’s chagrin, Gwen used a little “gallows humor” in an effort to convince Kristen to stay: the mansion had to be better than prison.

Kristen remained vague about her plans and decided to retire to her bedroom. Before she left, Gwen informed her of the DiMeras’ new unwelcome lodger: Dimitri. Gwen launched into a rant about how Dimitri had claimed he was kidnapped – an assertion Kristen couldn’t exactly contest was impossible – and about how he’d vowed to take everything from her. Kristen challenged Gwen to never let that happen. Gwen confirmed she would battle her soon-to-be-ex-husband to the last penny.

At Marlena’s place, Brady stopped by to tell Tate about his firing from Titan. Tate was surprised when he learned Brady had been considering leaving Basic Black for a while, and he was even more surprised after Brady suggested Tate join the company. Brady pitched how Tate was a business major, and if he began moving forward at Basic Black, one day he could potentially run the family company. Tate hesitantly shot down the suggestion, as running a business wasn’t his passion. In fact, Tate hadn’t found his professional passion yet.

Brady understood his son’s decision. He assured Tate that he would find someone for Basic Black who would keep the company close to their family. Something else soon diverted his attention, though: all the money had gone missing from Brady’s wallet.

Tate suggested Brady retrace his steps. Brady thought back to Rachel getting him to leave the room at Bayview and quickly seemed to conclude that his daughter was responsible. His fears were confirmed when he got a call beckoning him to Bayview.

Holly wants a rush, and Ari wants a man

At the Hernandez home, Holly paid a visit to Arianna, who was busy dealing with all the unused wedding presents Javi had acquired. Holly expressed her sympathies for what had happened at the wedding, but Ari admitted she wasn’t entirely “depressed” by the turn of events. She still didn’t think Leo deserved her cousin. Holly conceded that she liked Leo, as he’d always been nice to her, and she decided to turn the topic to something more upbeat: sorority rushing.

When Holly mentioned she planned to join a sorority, Ari cautioned just how intense rush weeks could get. Holly thought it’d be fun, especially if Ari joined her. While Ari seemed excited by the idea at first, she ultimately said she couldn’t because she’d be busy with her internship at DiMera. Ari did have an idea for how she and Holly could have fun that night: a trip to Small Bar.

Holly said she didn’t have a fake ID, but Ari slyly suggested they fix that problem. Holly still begged off and mentioned going to see Tate, which prompted Ari to bemoan her perpetually single status. Holly tried to give Ari a pep talk about meeting the right guy. Ari wanted to get a jump on the problem by going to Small Bar alone. As Holly warned her to exercise caution after what had happened with Doug, Ari pledged that she’d learned her lesson.

Lamentations from Leo

At the Brady Pub, Chad joined Leo, who was still drowning his sorrows in drinks. With some drunken rambling mixed in, Leo lamented his lingering feelings for Dimitri. Javi had taught Leo what true love felt like, and with Javi’s help, Leo had learned he didn’t need to use “lying and scheming” to protect himself. But with his newfound relationship with honesty, Leo couldn’t deny he was still very attracted and drawn to Dimitri. He’d even had a decidedly impure dream about the other man the night before.

Leo mused whether or not Chad had ever been in love with two people like Marlena had. Chad claimed he hadn’t, and he moved to cut Leo off from his drinking spree. Leo, to his own astonishment, redirected the conversation to Chad and his life.

Chad updated Leo on the latest developments in his custody fight. Leo sang Chad’s praises and called him an amazing father. He even offered to “testify” on Chad’s behalf at the next hearing. Chad thanked him but affirmed it wouldn’t be possible. He helped a stumbling Leo from the pub and offered to drive him home.

Leo got sentimental and called Chad his best friend. He sincerely appreciated Chad’s support. Chad promised to be there while Leo figured out what he wanted. “If only I knew what that was,” Leo replied.

Back at Marlena's place, after Brady left, Tate received a happier guest in Holly. She saw something was bothering Tate, so he told her about his dad’s abrupt departure. On a more optimistic note, though, Tate had completed the classes he’d taken over holiday break. He had high hopes they’d help him get out of academic probation. Holly rewarded Tate with a kiss.

In Horton Town Square, Ari thought she spotted Sophia passing by her. Sophia, clad in a dark hoodie, kept walking when Ari called out to her.

Back at Bayview, a pensive Rachel waited until Brady came to see her. He angrily informed Rachel that the doctor had told him Rachel had been discovered in Sophia’s room. He wanted answers. Rachel blurted out that she had been helping Sophia…at Sophia’s suggestion. Brady was taken aback to learn that Sophia could speak and that she had apparently been scheming with his daughter.

Brady instructed Rachel to tell him where Sophia had gone, because the other girl could be in danger. Rachel insisted she didn’t know until something caught her eye. “She’s right there,” Rachel said. Brady turned and saw Sophia standing in the doorway.
