On Days of our Lives today, Monday, January 19, 2026, emotions run high at Trey’s christening and at Bayview.

What Happened on Days of our Lives

At the Salem Inn, Leo was shocked to find Javi at his door. He eagerly invited Javi inside after Javi stated he needed to talk with Leo. Javi let Leo know that Trey’s christening had been moved to that afternoon. Leo readily agreed to go but was confused as to why the date had changed. Javi told him about Chanel and Johnny accommodating Javi's plans of leaving for Texas.

Leo expressed concern after learning about Javi's father and said that Javi shouldn’t go through the difficult time alone. When Javi mentioned his family, Leo affirmed that he was Javi’s family. After everything they’d been through together, from falling in love to caring for Trey, Leo didn’t believe Javi could deny his assertion. Javi stressed Leo and he were a family, but he wasn’t sure that could be the reality anymore. He sadly informed Leo that he might not be returning to Salem.

Rafe and Ari make plans

At the Hernandez home, Gabi quizzed Arianna about her disheveled appearance. Ari admitted she had been drinking but assured Gabi she had taken an Uber ride home. Rafe, meanwhile, received a call from Johnny inviting the Hernandez family to the christening. When he told Gabi and Ari about the invitation, Ari said she couldn’t go because both Holly and she had to switch dorms at the same time. She didn’t want to be around Leo, either.

Ari also mentioned that she needed to update her wardrobe because she’d decided to join a sorority with Holly. Gabi was excited for Ari and offered her clothes from Gabi Chic, but Rafe had reservations about the idea. Ari assured both Gabi and Rafe that she wouldn’t get in over her head. Rafe then told his sister and niece about his plans to go to Alamainia to investigate the DiMera kidnappings. Gabi realized Rafe would be confirming Stefan’s death as well.

The christening commences

At Johnny and Chanel’s place, the couple got Trey ready for the christening. Chanel hoped that Leo and Javi could put aside their issues, since they both loved Trey so much. Paulina stopped by with Chanel’s old christening gown, which Trey would be wearing. As they gushed over the baby, Johnny looked slightly pensive. When mother and daughter had a moment alone, Chanel filled Paulina in on her talk with Johnny and her optimism that happier and more peaceful times were ahead for their family.

Later, at the church, Johnny and Chanel greeted Rafe and Gabi, who gave their congratulations to the couple. Javi and Leo arrived soon thereafter, and the group gathered for a picture. Leo struggled to include himself in the happy photo. Paulina and Abe were also in attendance, with excuses being provided for why other friends and family couldn’t make it.

Johnny and Chanel stood with Trey in front of the priest as the ceremony began. After the priest said a few words to the couple, he asked Trey’s godparents to step forward. Leo and Javi joined Johnny and Chanel at the front and pledged to be sources of support and love for Trey for the rest of his life. They exchanged longing glances.

Once the rituals were completed and the christening concluded, Javi said his goodbyes to a smiling Trey. Javi was honored to be Trey’s godfather and to have been his father for a short time. He vowed that he would always be connected to the little boy because Trey would always be in his heart. Chanel approached Javi and thanked him for everything he had done for Trey. Javi returned the sentiment and returned Chanel’s hug.

Javi also shared heartfelt goodbyes with Rafe and Gabi. When Leo took Javi aside and asked to speak with him, Javi reluctantly agreed.

As their guests dispersed, Johnny and Chanel marveled at the moment their growing family had just experienced. Chanel said she was tired and wanted to get home, so the couple left with their newly christened son.

Holly and Sophia meet again

At Bayview, Holly met with Sophia’s doctor, who had asked if Holly would be willing to see Sophia. The doctor believed that the meeting could compel Sophia to speak and aid in her recovery. When Sophia entered the room and saw Holly, things immediately got tense. As Sophia glared at her, Holly gave an awkward greeting as the doctor explained to Sophia why Holly was there. The doctor asked Sophia if she wanted to tell Holly anything.

Sophia responded by trying to slap Holly. The doctor restrained Sophia, and Holly recoiled…then got angry. She said she’d agreed to the doctor’s request because a part of her felt sorry for Sophia and still cared for her former friend. Holly apologized for lying to Sophia about Tate, but reminded Sophia that it was long in the past. Since then, Sophia had made it her mission to actively sabotage Tate and Holly’s lives.

Holly blasted Sophia for being a “narcissistic bitch” and declared she was done feeling sympathy. After Holly stormed out of the room, Sophia’s doctor apologized to her patient for aggravating the situation. She asked Sophia to tell her – or to write – what she was feeling. Sophia wrote down a reply in all caps: “I hate her!” The doctor took the message in stride and said it was good that Sophia could express her feelings -- only minus the violent outbursts.

The doctor urged Sophia to open up to her, but Sophia only rolled her eyes. Her demeanor soon changed, though, when the doctor informed Sophia that she could no longer see Rachel. Sophia nearly snapped the pencil in her hand. The doctor added that Sophia would retain all of her other privileges if she promised never to sneak out again. Later, after Sophia returned to her room, she pulled her cell phone from under her mattress and sent a text to Melinda asking for a meeting.

In Horton Town Square, Holly joined Ari and updated her roomie on her disastrous meeting with Sophia. Holly didn’t care if Sophia never opened her mouth again. But the meeting had frightened her to a degree, because she worried about what Sophia might do when she left Bayview. The musing prompted Ari to reveal that she might have seen Sophia the previous night. Both girls eventually dismissed the notion that Sophia could have been roaming around Salem unsupervised.

Ari and Holly’s conversation was interrupted by Javi’s arrival. Ari hugged her cousin and made him promise to stay in touch and to give updates about his ailing dad. After Javi said goodbye to Ari, he met back up with Leo. Javi told Leo to make it quick because he hated long goodbyes. Leo emphatically replied, “I have no intention of saying goodbye.”
