What happened on Days of our Lives, January 5th through 9th, 2026, when the New Year’s Eve wedding had an unexpected visitor, Theo woke up, Peter had a brief recovery, Chanel fought Johnny about her pregnancy, and Alex made a decision about Stephanie’s career.
What happened on Days of our Lives
Holly surprised Tate for NYE. Theo woke up after Paulina blew a paper horn to celebrate the new year. Theo remembered his ordeal, and Abe reassured him that his family was safe. Gabi visited Theo at the hospital, and Jada and Theo agreed on a second date.
Jeremy spent NYE playing Scrabble with Julie. Jeremy talked about how he had little support in Salem, and he had decided to move away. Jeremy refused to tell Julie about his resolution for the new year. Julie asked Jeremy to give some thought about staying in Salem.
Julie talked to Chad about the custody case. Although Julie refused to take sides, she told Chad that having him and the kids in the house since Doug’s passing had been a lifesaver for her. Julie apologized for swaying Jack and Jennifer’s opinion of Cat, but Chad reassured Julie that she was not to blame. Chad blamed himself for falling in love despite knowing how the family had felt about Cat.
Sarah rang in the new year with Brady at the mansion. Maggie interrupted a kiss between Brady and Sarah. Maggie declined to join them for the ball drop. Brady and Sarah kissed at midnight. When Sarah received a confirmation that her divorce was final, she told Brady that she was hopeful about her future.
Dimitri surprised Leo and Javi after their wedding. Dimitri explained that he had been kidnapped after his release from prison, and he had been held prisoner in Alamania. Dimitri said that his captor had threatened Leo’s life if Dimitri had not written the Dear John letter. Dimitri accused Gwen, but she denied the accusation. Javi asked Leo to sort out his feelings before they filed the wedding certificate. While Javi got drunk at the reception, Leo talked to Marlena about his conflicted feelings. Marlena advised Leo to follow his heart.
Dimitri vowed to prove that Gwen kidnapped him and make her pay. Gwen was surprised to see Dimitri at the DiMera mansion, and he said he was moving in. Dimitri threatened to divorce Gwen because he had no obligation to remain married to her now that he had his inheritance. Gwen argued that Dimitri would have divorced her sooner if he had been able. When Dimitri swore to regain his fortune and force Gwen to pay back every cent she had spent, Gwen countered that Dimitri loved his money more than Leo.
Leo told Javi that he had never actually known true love until he had fallen in love with Javi. Javi refused to take Leo back until Leo talked to Dimitri. Javi told Leo that he needed him to be sure that his feelings for Dimitri were truly over. When Leo went to talk to Dimitri, he told him that he loved Javi and did not want to be with Dimitri. Dimitri kissed Leo.
Rafe told Jada that the camera feed at the crypt was tracked back to Alamania. Jada and Rafe agreed that it was possible that Peter had been working with Stefan before he died. Rafe promised to question Peter if he woke up.
Kristen signed the papers to disconnect Peter from life support. When Kayla ended treatment, Peter fought to breathe. Peter woke up, and he told Kristen he would not forgive her. After Kristen left the room, a masked man injected a drug into Peter’s IV. Peter appeared to die. Frustrated, Kristen asked Rafe to help her get revenge on EJ. Rafe was noncommittal, so Kristen asked Rafe to think about it.
Kate informed Bonnie that she could not read Bonnie’s unsolicited manuscript. Kate offered to give Bonnie contacts for other publishers. Kate confided to Roman that she had not wanted to read Bonnie’s book in case it was terrible. Xander followed Kate’s plan, and he left a copy of Bonnie’s manuscript on the table for Johnny to look at. Johnny signed an agreement not to use any proprietary material from Titan while he worked at DiMera.
Xander asked Alex to ramp up Stephanie’s book tour, but Alex refused. Alex explained that the threats against Stephanie made going on a tour too dangerous. Alex argued that Stephanie should stay in town and write a new romance novel. Xander refused to let Alex make any decisions for Stephanie.
Stephanie and Alex told Chad about their engagement, and he offered to post the announcement in the paper. Stephanie was furious that Alex had made the decision to cancel her book tour. Stephanie admitted that she felt like she had let Titan down, but Alex said he believed in her. The stalker video-recorded Alex and Stephanie together in the square.
Philip and Belle got caught up with one another’s lives. Chad asked Belle out on a date, and they agreed that it would be a rebound for them both. Philip told Gabi that he felt like he was finally ready to move on from Chloe.

Chanel was upset that Johnny felt like she should terminate her pregnancy. Johnny was frustrated that Chanel did not understand that he was more concerned for Chanel’s life than anything else. The stress of the situation wore on Chanel, and she experienced the same pain she had suffered during her miscarriage. The baby was fine, but Chanel was more determined than ever to go through with the pregnancy.
