What happened on Days of our Lives on Friday, January 9, 2026, when Chanel had a scare, Xander retaliated, Leo made a plea, and Dimitri made a pass.
What happened on Days of our Lives
Paulina stopped by Chanel’s home, and Chanel told her about the pregnancy. “Why didn’t you tell me that the doctor gave you the all clear to get pregnant again?” Paulina asked. Chanel admitted that the doctor had not done that, and that the pregnancy had been unplanned. “Dr. Horton says there is still a very good chance that I can have a healthy pregnancy,” Chanel said. Paulina asked how Johnny felt.
Chanel explained that Johnny did not think that the baby was worth the risk to Chanel’s life. Chanel said that Johnny had also made her feel like he did not believe she loved Trey enough. Chanel argued that if the specialist believed the pregnancy was viable, she refused to give up on it. Paulina said she understood Chanel and Johnny’s points of view.
“I love Trey so much. Nothing could ever change that. But there are challenges that come with having a child that doesn’t look like you,” Chanel said. Chanel told Paulina about an incident in the park when a woman had assumed that she was Trey’s nanny. Chanel admitted that she was angry that Johnny treated her like she was behaving irresponsibly instead of understanding how she felt.

At the pub, Xander told Johnny that now that the companies had separated, they no longer could allow Johnny to work at DiMera on loan without a new agreement that forbade Johnny from sharing any proprietary information with DiMera. “I promise I will be back at Titan as soon as I can,” Johnny said. Johnny stressed that Theo was getting better. “All business aside, we’re all pulling for him,” Xander said. As Xander rifled through his briefcase for the papers, he placed Bonnie’s manuscript on the table. Johnny noticed.
When Xander said he refused to read Bonnie’s book, Johnny argued that another hit romance novel could help Titan. “The truth of the matter is, we just don’t have the resources to devote to two fairly new writers competing in the same space,” Xander said. Xander asked Johnny to review the agreement while he took a phone call. After Xander left the room, Johnny flipped through Bonnie’s manuscript.
When Xander returned, Johnny signed the agreement. Xander wished Johnny luck at DiMera. Johnny thanked Xander for the understanding. “I look forward to getting you back at Titan. Where you belong,” Xander said.
When Johnny returned home, Paulina said, “Chanel’s been telling me about her pregnancy and your feelings about it.” Chanel explained that although they had agreed not to tell anyone, she had needed to talk to her mom. Johnny said he understood. Chanel winced and grabbed her belly. “Something’s wrong,” Chanel said.
In the Kiriakis mansion, Maggie asked Brady and Sarah about their New Year’s Eve together. Brady and Sarah thought about their kiss. “It was nice,” Brady stammered. Sarah agreed. Bayview texted Brady to ask for a meeting about Rachel’s progress, but it was at the same time as the Titan shareholder meeting. Brady noted that Xander would not appreciate his continued use of his second in command to handle matters in his absence.
“Because you’ve been focused on Rachel’s recovery. I’m sure Xander understands,” Maggie said. “Maybe he did. Before Sarah and I were living under the same roof,” Brady said. Maggie encouraged Brady to go to Bayview and let her handle Xander. Maggie noted that although things had been tense with Xander, she was grateful that Brady had stayed with Titan. Brady said he would not leave his father and grandfather’s company until it was stabilized.
After Maggie left, Sarah’s attorney texted her to confirm that her divorce was final. “You got some mixed emotions about it?” Brady asked. “Actually, I don’t,” Sarah said. Sarah told Brady that she was hopeful about the future.
At Titan, Xander was working in his office when Maggie walked in and asked him about Stephanie’s canceled book tour. Xander explained that Alex had cancelled the tour because of Stephanie’s stalker. As Xander shuffled through his inbox, he found his divorce decree from the courthouse. “I’m so sorry,” Maggie whispered. “No, you’re not. I’m sure you’re thrilled I’m no longer bound to your daughter,” Xander muttered. Maggie stressed that she was heartbroken that the marriage had ended. Xander apologized. Xander told Maggie not to worry about retaliation.
Maggie told Xander that Brady would not be able to make the board meeting because his daughter needed him at Bayview. “Right. Well, I don’t even get to see mine,” Xander said. “You know damn well that’s nobody’s fault but your own,” Maggie said. Xander glared at Maggie as she walked out.
When Brady arrived at Titan, Xander and Brady argued about the downturn in sales for Basic Black. “Is this tantrum of yours, is this about my job performance, or is this possibly about me and Sarah?” Brady asked. “So you admit that there is a you and Sarah?” Xander said. Brady said no. Xander told Brady he was fired.
In the DiMera living room, Dimitri and Gwen bickered over whether either belonged in the DiMera home. “You are the sole suspect [in my kidnapping]. And as such, I have petitioned to freeze your access to our joint accounts pending the outcome of the investigation,” Dimitri said. “You can’t do that,” Gwen said. Dimitri grinned.
“I had nothing to do with what happened to you,” Gwen stressed. Gwen promised to contest the divorce. Dimitri swore to not only regain his fortune, but to make Gwen pay back any of the money she had spent. With a smirk, Gwen argued that Dimitri cared more about his money than Leo because he was arguing with her instead of chasing down his lover.
“Leo will come to me” Dimitri said. Gwen pointed out that Leo was in love with a man that was not a liar and a cheat like Dimitri. “Leo is lucky to be rid of you. I only bloody wish I could be rid of you too,” Gwen said.
At the Hernandez house, Leo knocked on the door. “How are you?” Leo asked. “A little numb,” Javi admitted. Leo said that he believed Gwen had orchestrated Dimitri’s return. “So she could show [Dimitri] that I have moved on from him and ruin our wedding at the same time,” Leo said. Javi noted that it was possible that Gwen had failed in her plan if Leo had not moved on from Dimitri.
“I don’t want to be with Dimitri. The person I want to spend the rest of my life with is you,” Leo stressed. “I know that you believe that now,” Javi said. Javi asked Leo if he had talked to Dimitri. Leo argued that it would be pointless. Javi stressed that Leo needed to resolve his feelings for Dimitri now that he knew the full truth about the breakup.
“You’re afraid that if you [see Dimitri], you could fall in love with him all over again,” Javi argued. Leo admitted that he had once believed that he had found true love with Dimitri. “But I now know I did not love him with my whole heart the way I love you,” Leo said. Leo told Javi that he would give up his life for Javi, and he had never felt that for Dimitri. Leo kissed Javi. After a moment, Javi pushed Leo away.
“I can’t trust your feelings for me until you [talk to] Dimitri,” Javi said. Leo told Javi that he felt like Javi only saw the old, untrustworthy Leo. “I’m [not] going to throw away the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” Leo said. “I know you are a good person,” Javi said. Javi added that because the reason for the breakup had been a lie, it meant that Leo’s love for Dimitri might resurface.
“You’re not going to let this go, are you?” Leo asked. Javi shook his head no. Javi told Leo that Leo needed to fully examine what and who his heart wanted. “I am going to prove to you that I love you and no one else,” Leo said.
Once away from the mansion, Gwen called EJ and left him a voicemail promising to explain the Dimitri situation when EJ returned. Inside the mansion, Leo went into the living room. “I knew you’d come,” Dimitri said. Leo told Dimitri that he was sorry that Dimitri had been kidnapped, and that he had believed the fake letter. “But most importantly, I’m sorry if you believe we’re getting back together. I love Javi now, and nothing is going to change that,” Leo said. Dimitri grabbed Leo and kissed him.
In the hospital waiting area, Johnny blamed himself for having upset Chanel. “This is not about me not wanting the baby. It’s about me not wanting to lose her,” Johnny told Paulina. “I’m so sorry for what you’re both going through,” Paulina said.
In the exam room, Sarah confirmed that Chanel’s baby appeared to be fine. “But it felt so similar to the miscarriage that I had,” Chanel said. Sarah encouraged Chanel to avoid stress as best as she could. “How could I not be stressed when my husband wishes to end this pregnancy?” Chanel asked.
When Johnny entered the room, he asked Chanel if she was okay. “I’m fine. And so is the baby. Are you disappointed?” Chanel said. “No, of course not,” Johnny said. Sarah discussed the risks of the pregnancy and the cancer. “What can we do?” Johnny asked. “I am going to wait to see if my pregnancy is viable. And if it is, then I am having this baby,” Chanel snapped.

In the waiting area, Javi saw Paulina with Trey. Paulina assured Javi that Trey was fine. “I heard about what happened at your wedding. I’m so sorry,” Paulina said. Javi smiled at Trey, and he told Trey he loved him.
