In today’s Days of our Lives recap for July 15, 2026, Alex and Stephanie spent the night with other people, Javi and Leo couldn't seem to stay out of each other’s thoughts, and two Salem investigations heated up.
The Sleepover

At the Brady Pub, Joy – who was sporting a neck brace – arrived home, with Alex in tow. They discussed how the doctor had advised Joy to keep the brace on for a few days. As Joy prepared to go upstairs with Kelsey, she winced in pain, which brought Alex to her side. Joy lamented how she would get around and take care of Kelsey with the brace in her way. She needed to do it on her own.
Not so fast…Alex had an idea. After he helped Joy to her room above the pub, Alex made a call and secured a temporary nurse to help Joy. Only one problem – the nurse couldn’t start until the following day. Alex offered to stay the night, while Joy put up a weak protest. He made another call, to Stephanie this time, and got a less-than-pleased response about his plans before Stephanie hung up on him. Joy wore a small smile during the exchange, which fully bloomed when she later listened to Alex giving Kelsey a bath.
After Alex emerged from the bathroom, soaking wet and shirtless, he raved about how much more deeply he was falling in love with his daughter the more time he spent with her. Joy made a fuss about the discomfort of sleeping with the neck brace, so Alex sat on the bed and loosened it for her. The close moment seemed to affect Joy, as she watched Alex prepare his sleeping spot on the floor. Later, Alex tossed and turned, unable to sleep and on alert for Kelsey’s promised frequent awakenings. He rose and tucked the sheets in for Joy while she slept.
Table for Two

At Small Bar, Stephanie walked up to the bar and instructed the bartender to keep her tab open for the night. She spotted Theo, who appeared to be well into his own drinking binge. When Stephanie greeted him, Theo was standoffish but had second thoughts and asked Stephanie to join him. Theo only had one caveat: they couldn’t talk about his problems. He needed a distraction and invited Stephanie to lay all her problems on him.
As the drinks started flowing, Stephanie willingly complied. She filled Theo in on her every complaint about Joy. Theo acknowledged that Chanel had told him about Joy’s “obsessive” nature. Stephanie bemoaned how Alex had sent her away to stay with Joy. Her hopes were temporarily raised for a reconciliation when Alex called, but he put a quick dash on those hopes by informing her that he would be staying with Joy for the night…for Kelsey’s sake. Stephanie mocked Joy’s constant distress and suggested she come and help out before sarcastically correcting that her “scary and dangerous” self couldn’t even be around the little girl.
Stephanie abruptly ended the call as Alex was mid-explanation. Theo silently watched the exchange, eyebrows raised. Stephanie continued ordering drinks until Theo not-so-subtly cut her off. Stephanie didn’t see the point in going home, since no one would be waiting for her. Theo offered to walk a drunk Stephanie home nonetheless.
Later, at Alex and Stephanie’s apartment, Stephanie thanked Theo and invited him to open up to her so she could return the favor. After a bit of hesitation, Theo told Stephanie about his fight with Abe. He had ignored his dad’s constant calls and texts and likewise wasn’t in the mood for a fight.
Stephanie extended her new drinking buddy an invitation: stay the night…with her. At Theo’s reticence, Stephanie promptly assured him it was just a friendly invite. If Alex could help out a friend, so could she. Theo eventually agreed. Later, he rustled uncomfortably on the couch. Stephanie brought him bedding, and Theo again thanked her. “That’s what friends are for,” they agreed.
Ex Awkwardness

In Horton Town Square, Javi and Gus were engaged in a friendly debate about the movie they’d just seen. They decided on an impromptu PDA, which a woozy Leo witnessed. Leo turned away, stricken, and tried to make a clean getaway, but Javi and Gus saw him and called out. Leo pledged he was fine and definitely not spying on them. Javi had his doubts but followed Gus’ lead in giving post-concussion recovery tips to Leo.
Leo, Gus, and Javi awkwardly parted ways, and the couple took their PDA private and straight to the Hernandez home. They burst through the door in the midst of a hot-and-heavy make-out session – only to be met with a bemused audience in Gabi and Gwen. The embarrassed duo tried to compose themselves, but the women chose to give them the privacy they obviously wanted. Before taking her leave, Gwen advised Javi to tread lightly with Leo, as her semi-bestie was heartbroken still.
Once they were alone, Gus asked Javi if he was worried about Leo. Javi admitted he felt bad for his ex. He’d run into Leo earlier at the pub and suggested Leo remove his wedding ring. In the square, he’d noticed Leo had indeed taken off the ring. Leo was insecure and not good at making friends, so Javi knew how lonely he must feel. Gus conceded he felt bad for Leo, too, especially since Leo had lost the best man he’d ever known, Javi; Leo’s loss was Gus’ gain.
Gus noticed Javi seemed distracted and asked if Leo was still on his mind. Javi claimed Leo wasn’t. His ex needed to move on, just as Javi had done. To reiterate the point, Javi pulled Gus in for a kiss.
The Knockoffs

Before her cousin’s unexpected interruption, Gabi was in full crisis mode with Gwen. She pointed out with outrage all the discrepancies apparent on Gwen’s counterfeit handbag. Gwen added to the outrage by showing Gabi other websites that were selling the knockoff product. Gabi’s mood didn’t get any better when she made a call to Rafe demanding an FBI investigation and got declined.
Frustrated, Gabi suggested she and Gwen call it a night. Gwen affirmed she was just as invested in uncovering the imposter as Gabi; she’d been swindled, too, after all. Besides, she didn’t want to be alone and drink herself into a stupor. Gwen gave Gabi all the dirty details about her discovery of Xander’s tryst with Kristen and her subsequent fight with the DiMera woman. The fight story – especially the part featuring an injured EJ – delighted Gabi.
Later, Gabi and Gwen took their show on the road to Horton Town Square, where a mournful Leo was still sitting at his table. The women approached and offered Leo a big scoop about the counterfeit Gabi Chic products. Leo made a crack about Gwen being unable to spot “fakes,” and Gwen started to flounce off in a huff. Leo stopped her and confessed he hadn’t meant what he’d said as a diss to Gwen. He was just sad and lonely and could really use a hug. Before Gwen could respond, Leo wrapped her in a clumsy embrace.
With amends seemingly made, Leo, Gwen, and Gabi cheered each other up with tales about their previous exploits with counterfeit accessories. Gabi vowed she was going after the counterfeiters with full egal weight, including a cease-and-desist order. Leo wished he could issue a “cease-and-desist” on a certain couple.
Message From Beyond

At Marlena’s place, Chad accompanied Belle home from their date. The two enjoyed light flirtatious moments and kisses before turning their attention back to the paper the mystery man had given them. They observed that the U, the V, and the word “lire” had been underlined. Chad realized the game-playing was still ongoing, even after Stefano’s death. He believed they should stop their investigation, for safety’s sake.
Belle was determined to see their journey for answers through, so Chad promised he would be with Belle every step of the way. They theorized on why the “U” and the “V” might be emphasized. Belle concluded that the letters could indicate “UV,” as in ultraviolet light. She joked about tanning beds, but Chad remembered that Thomas had a detective play kit that used a UV light. He asked Belle if she might have such a light on-hand.

Belle grinned, declared her dad had kept a plethora of such tools, and went to retrieve the light. Later, Chad and she huddled together, with the room lights turned low. They shone the small flashlight on the paper around the word “lire” and detected a symbol. “A Celtic cross,” Chad surmised. “What could it mean?” Belle responded in puzzlement.
What could the cross mean? Can Gabi catch her own clue? Will Alex ever remember he also once withheld a consequential phone call, and how will he react to find someone from the enemy camp's been sleeping on his couch? Sound off in the comments.
