On the Friday, June 5, 2026, episode of Days of our Lives, Johnny fought with Chanel, EJ asked for help, Rafe dressed down Cat, Abe learned bad news, and Lexie felt...bad.
Days of our Lives changes

Theo met with EJ at the mansion and confirmed that his mother was doing well. Suspicious, Theo asked why EJ seemed concerned. EJ reminded Theo that Lexie’s recovery was unprecedented. Theo told EJ that Lexie had asked him to reconsider working for DiMera. EJ asked Theo to help Johnny while he supported Chanel as she underwent treatment for breast cancer. While Theo absorbed the shocking news, EJ asked Theo about his interest in the job. Theo said he was interested.
Abe and Lexie had breakfast with Marlena in the pub. Marlena told Abe that she had received what she believed to be a sign from John. Lexie asked if there was a chance that John could be revived. Marlena confirmed that the ISA had verified that John was gone. “And like Stefano, he will not be returning to us,” Marlena said.
Marlena changed the subject to Chanel’s health. When Abe seemed confused, Marlena realized that Abe did not know about the cancer. Abe admitted he had not spoken to Chanel or Paulina recently. “I told Abe I need him to be focused on our family, and he agreed,” Lexie said.
While Lexie talked to Roman in the back, Abe said he hoped Marlena would support Paulina, because she needed a friend. Marlena agreed. Abe thanked Marlena for giving Theo an outlet to talk while he had kept the secret about Lexie.
When Abe and Lexie returned home, she talked about how spending time with friends was good for her spiritual recovery. While Lexie went to the bathroom, Theo returned home and told Abe about Chanel's illness. Abe asked Theo to cover for him, and he left. Later, while Lexie was alone in the living room, she swooned and stumbled. At the hospital, Dr. Rolf called EJ and told him that he believed there might be a problem with their drug.
Traps and memories

Cat met up with Rafe in his office to tell him about the trap she had set for EJ. Frustrated, Rafe reminded Cat that she was not a trained agent, and she could not continue to improvise. “If you go rogue again, we are done. I can’t work with someone that I can’t trust,” Rafe said. Cat agreed to follow Rafe’s lead to stop EJ’s drug from going to the black market. Rafe stressed that the promise of the drug was too great to allow it to fall into the wrong hands.
After a moment, Rafe cautioned Cat that if EJ gave her the drug, she could not give it to her mother. Cat agreed that she would turn over the drug. Rafe asked Cat not to agree to any conditions from EJ that would be harmful. Cat argued that she could not keep things professional with EJ, because she might lose her job if EJ lost the hospital. Cat told Rafe that EJ’s hypnosis had failed, and that she had lied to EJ and said the treatment had not worked on her.
When Marlena arrived at the hospital, she ran into EJ. EJ told Marlena that he was disappointed that her hypnotherapy with Cat had failed, and he asked what other options there were to recover their memories. Marlena told EJ that there was nothing more she could do. When Marlena ran into Cat later, Marlena told Cat she had covered for her with EJ. Cat apologized for puttingMarlena in an awkward position.
Second opinions

In Johnny and Chanel’s apartment, Johnny listened as Chanel canceled her appointment to have a chemo port surgically implanted. Johnny asked Chanel to reconsider. Chanel refused. Chanel accused Johnny of taking Dr. George’s side and believing that she was acting irrational. Chanel told Johnny that she had concerns about the treatment beyond the bedside manner of her oncologist. Chanel asked Johnny not to dismiss her concerns and warned him that she would not be bullied by him or her doctor.
Chanel reminded Johnny that she did not want him to prioritize her life over their baby’s life. “It’s like you don’t hear me at all,” Chanel yelled. Chanel stressed that she had made her decision not to undergo chemo and it was final. Johnny argued that all of Chanel’s doctors had agreed that the planned treatment was the best chance to keep Chanel and the baby healthy. Chanel pointed out that Dr. George had avoided her questions about long term effects on the baby and she would not take the risk.
Johnny reminded Chanel that during her last pregnancy, she had chosen to continue after her exposure to radiation, and they had agreed to face any long term consequences together. Chanel countered that unlike the current situation, her previous radiation exposure had not been by choice. Chanel promised that she would undergo treatment after their baby was born, but Johnny said he was concerned about waiting. Chanel noted that although on the whole she had been treated well in Salem, her meeting with Dr. George had reminded her of how often the specific medical needs of black women were overlooked or dismissed. Citing concerns for her stress, Chanel ended the conversation.
When Paulina stopped by with groceries, Johnny appealed to her to help convince Chanel to undergo cancer treatment. Johnny told Paulina about the upsetting meeting with Dr. George. Frustrated, Johnny explained that he wanted to support Chanel, but he also wanted to tell her that she was being “shortsighted and ridiculous.” Chanel walked in. Johnny apologized. Paulina noted that Johnny was not off base.
“I know you would do anything to protect your baby, and I would do anything to protect mine,” Paulina said. Chanel asked Paulina not to pressure her like Johnny. Paulina told Chanel that she understood that the doctor had been disrespectful, and she understood why Chanel was upset. Paulina urged Chanel to talk to another doctor that would answer her questions and treat her with respect, because Chanel had a much better chance to survive the cancer if she started the treatment soon.
As Paulina exited Chanel’s apartment, she ran into Abe, who hugged Paulina and he told her he was sorry to hear about Chanel’s health problems. “I’m also sorry I haven’t been in touch,” Abe added. Paulina said she understood, and she thanked Abe. Paulina advised Abe not to visit with Chanel because she was under a lot of stress, but she promised to pass along his message.
In the apartment, Johnny asked Chanel to consider her mother’s appeal. Johnny stressed that he only wanted Chanel to get a second opinion. Chanel reluctantly agreed. Chanel noted that if the doctor was respectful and answered her questions thoroughly, she would undergo treatment if that doctor agreed with Dr. George’s treatment plan.
