In the town square, Liam met with Julie at the cafe. Liam thanked Julie for taking over his tutoring. "Whatever mistakes you have made, I think you deserve to be in the literacy program,” Julie said. Across the square, Ari sat down on the bench, and she smiled when she saw Liam with Julie. Julie gave Liam a new book. “We’ll tackle it as a team. I’m here to get you through it,” Julie said. Liam asked Julie what she knew about him.
”Just what I’ve heard from Abe. You tend to be impulsive. You have made a few wrong decisions. Also, you’re a hard worker and a devoted father,” Julie said. “Did he also tell you I was involved in kidnapping his son and the rest of the DiMeras?” Liam asked. Julie admitted that Abe was not pleased that Julie was helping Liam.
“But I have this soft place in my heart for people who make poor choices, because when I was young and charming, I made so many poor choices myself,” Julie said. Liam chuckled. As Liam smiled at Ari across the square, Julie noticed. Liam sheepishly noted that Ari was beautiful. “She’s also my cousin,” Julie said. Julie noted that Ari was not 21. Liam said that Ari had told him that she was over 18. “You’ve met?” Julie asked. Liam started to say they had met at the bar, but he stopped himself. Julie asked Liam to focus on reading instead of Ari.
While Julie went to get two coffees, Ari went over to say hi to Liam. Klaus lurked nearby and waited for his moment to take out Liam. Liam apologized to Ari for not texting her. “How do you and Julie know each other?” Ari asked as Julie returned to the table. Julie stammered, and Liam lied and said that he had been applying for a job at Julie’s bookstore. Ari wished Julie a happy birthday, and she walked away.
After Julie and Liam wrapped up their tutoring session, Liam thanked Julie for helping him keep his literacy work from Ari. “You can consider that tutor-student privilege,” Julie said. Julie advised Liam to be truthful with Ari about his past if he befriended her. Liam agreed. “I really like her, and I would never want to do anything to disrespect her,” Liam said. Klaus watched from the corner as Liam went over to talk to Ari.
Liam asked about what Ari was reading, and she explained that it was a book galley from DiMera Publishing. “You work with DiMera?” Liam asked. “It’s an internship,” Ari said. Ari explained that she needed to evaluate how to market it on social media. When Liam asked why Ari was working extra hours, Ari admitted that her roommate wanted time alone with her boyfriend. Liam asked Ari to go to a movie with him. Klaus started to follow, but Renata called him. Renata told Klaus he was worried because neither Vivian nor Ivan had returned from the cemetery.

Belle visited Brady at his new apartment. When Belle asked about Kristen, Brady admitted that she had been in aramid. “It’s been quiet,” Brady said. Kristen returned home. Brady forced a smile, and he asked about Kristen’s mother. Kristen explained that she had helped her mother update her will since Peter had passed.
“That must have been really hard for both of you,” Belle said. “Yes. It was very painful,” Kristen said. Belle asked to talk about Rachel's hearing. Kristen was reluctant to discuss the matter, but Belle argued that they needed to figure out how to deal with Kristen’s decision to pull Rachel out of Bayview. Frustrated, Kristen argued that she had valid reasons to remove Rachel from the facility. Belle noted that Kristen’s opinion was irrelevant to the court. Kristen countered that Rachel was having sessions and taking her medication, which proved that Kristen was taking Rachel’s treatment seriously.
“I have to agree. [Rachel’s] happy here,” Brady said. When Kristen noted that she had given Brady joint custody, Belle argued that the court would likely see through Kristen’s posturing. Kristen sneered at Belle’s tone.

“Do you think it’s a good idea to antagonize the district attorney?” Brady said. Belle argued she would work to protect Rachel and Brady no matter how Kristen talked to her. “I will remind you that I am a damn good lawyer, and I know how judges think,” Belle said. Belle told Kristen that Judge Dabney was presiding over the case. Belle reminded Kristen that that was the same judge who had presided over Johnny’s case when Kristen had made a false confession.
“Judge Dabney is tough. But more than that, she is thorough. And I can guarantee she has gone through your long and litigious rap sheet, and she knows everything,” Belle said. Belle cautioned Kristen to behave because Judge Dabney knew about all the custody disputes between Kristen and Brady. “And that starts with not misrepresenting your domestic situation,” Belle advised. A defensive Kristen complained about Belle’s tone again. Brady reminded Kristen that Belle was on their side. Belle told Kristen to recant her confession and say nothing more so that she didn't jeopardize Rachel’s future.
“I won’t do anything to screw this up. But you better not either,” Kristen growled. Belle pointedly asked Brady about Sarah. Kristen rolled her eyes as Brady noted that Victoria was feeling better. Belle asked Brady to send her love the next time he saw Sarah. “Which I imagine will be very soon,” Belle stressed. Kristen gritted her teeth and left the room. Brady apologized for Kristen’s behavior. “Thank you for being so direct with her. Because she doesn’t listen to me,” Brady said. Belle said she was still worried about what Kristen might do in court.

In Alamainia, Leo was freaking out about the fact that Javi had called him for the first time in two months, and he had blown it. “I’ve never felt worse than I feel right now,” Leo said. “You didn't ruin anything. I did. And I swear to you, I had no idea it was Javi on the phone with you. Otherwise, I would have never made a peep,” Dimitri said. Leo argued that he was to blame because he had not told Javi that he was with Dimitri, and then he had lied about it. Dimitri called Leo dramatic.
“You said it yourself. It’s probably for the best that you and Javi are over,” Dimitri said. “I didn’t mean that!” Leo said. With a sigh, Dimitri reminded Leo that they were facing a dangerous mission. Dimiri told Leo to stay behind because he was an emotional liability. Leo refused to let Dimitri handle the mission alone. “I just lost the love of my life. I’m not gonna lose you, too,” Leo said. Dimitri flinched.
”And now you couldn’t bear to lose me, the consolation prize,” Dimitri said. Leo told Dimitri that he did not want him to die. “I said that I would be your lookout, and that’s what I’m going to be. I can handle that,” Leo said. Leo noted to Dimitri that since Vivian and Ivan would be at their weekly visit to Stefan's grave, Dimitri could go to the house and question the staff.

At Vivian's house, a woman named Renata called Klaus in Salem to inform him that Dimitri was on his way to Vivian's house while Vivian was still at the cemetery. Klaus advised Renata to let Dimitri into the house. The woman asked Klaus if she should “take care” of Dimitri. Klaus said no. “I have a loose end to tie up here in Salem,” Klaus said as he stared at Liam from across the square. Klaus assured the woman that Dimitri and Leo would not leave the country alive.
At Stefan’s grave, Leo was dressed as a woman. Leo muttered to himself about how he had gone from almost being married to playacting at a grave. As Leo looked around for Vivian or Ivan, a gravedigger approached. Leo pulled a veil over his face. Leo pretended to be a woman grieving for his sister. The gravedigger ignored Leo. After Leo left, the gravedigger started to dig up Stefan’s grave.

At Vivian’s house, Renata escorted Dimitri into the living room. When the woman addressed Dimitri by name, he asked how she knew who he was. “Why wouldn’t I? You stayed here for months,” the woman said. “I was never here,” Dimitri countered. Renata insisted that she was not mistaken. Dimitri offered to pay Renata to tell the truth in a court of law, but she declined. Renata refused to let Dimitri go upstairs to collect his belongings, and she ordered Dimitri to leave.
Dimitri pretended to leave, but then he returned and disarmed the security system. As Dimitri searched, Leo texted Dimitri to warn him that neither Vivian nor Ivan had shown up at the cemetery. Dimitri continued his search until he found something in a drawer.
Leo returned to the hotel and met up with Dimitri. “[Vivian and Ivan] never came back to the house either,” Dimitri said. Leo asked about the staff. Dimitri said a woman named Renata had blocked his access to the staff and had kicked him out. Dimitri showed Leo a shipping label receipt. The receipt included a location on Dimitri’s list of possible sites where he had been held captive. “And now all we need to do is go there, talk to the staff there, and I should have all the proof I need that I was set up,” Dimitri said. “And then we can go home!” Leo said.
