Days Recap: Days of our Lives Recap, March 11, 2026: Stephanie goes to extremes for her freedom

Here’s your Days of our Lives recap for Wednesday, March 11, when Paulina makes her choice, Chanel extends an olive branch, Sarah and Xander’s fragile truce fractures, and Brady points Steve in the right direction.

In the secret lab, Owen’s one-way chat with Lexie about Stephanie was interrupted by EJ’s unexpected arrival. EJ greeted his night caretaker, but Owen had his back turned and managed to slip out of the room without EJ recognizing him.

EJ sat beside the pod and apologized to Lexie for telling Paulina about her. He reassured his slumbering sister that Paulina’s conscience would compel her to do the right thing, and then Lexie would have her “second chance at life.”

At Johnny and Chanel’s place, the couple anxiously anticipated Trey officially becoming their son at the upcoming hearing. After Johnny left for work, Paulina stopped by, and Chanel quickly noticed something was weighing on her mom’s mind.

She invoked the words of her “Big Mama”: a person could never go wrong by following their conscience. Paulina perked up, said it was exactly what she had needed to hear, and thanked Chanel before taking her leave. At the DiMera offices, Johnny ruminated over the christening cup EJ had gifted him. On cue, EJ arrived and said he had wanted to check on his son before Johnny’s big business meeting. The conversation was cordial at first, but Johnny got offended after EJ hinted that his son might have his own struggles with fatherhood in the future. EJ clarified by reminding Johnny that parents inevitably disappoint their kids.

EJ spotted the christening cup and correctly surmised that Johnny had brought it to the office because of Chanel’s disapproval. Johnny admitted that his wife had wanted him to trash the gift, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. Part of his motivation had been avoiding a DiMera “curse,” and part of it had been a desire not to hurt EJ’s feelings. EJ understood Johnny’s continued distance and said that a parent’s love was not meant to be reciprocal.

EJ left Johnny with the following: “You can hate me until your dying breath, but I will always love you.” Johnny was visibly affected by his father’s words. Later, Chanel and Trey paid a visit to Johnny. He was happy to see them but too distracted to conceal the cup. Chanel saw it and marveled over its beauty.

When Chanel identified the DiMera crest on the cup, she asked Johnny who had sent it. He confessed that the cup had been EJ’s gift. To Johnny’s surprise, Chanel was okay with it and even suggested they take the cup home. She admitted that she might have taken too hard a line with EJ, and she didn’t want to stand in the way of Johnny having a relationship with his father if that’s what he wanted. Because of Paulina's distress, Chanel had realized how much a parent sometimes needed their child’s support.

At the DiMera mansion, Paulina bristled at EJ’s warm reception. After some back-and-forth about who was responsible for Paulina’s fraught state, EJ got to the point and asked if she had made a decision. Paulina said she wouldn’t stand in the way of EJ’s experiment, even if Abe ultimately chose to go back to Lexie. “If she’s meant to live, she will live,” Paulina affirmed.

At the hospital, Brady went into Victoria’s hospital room with food for Sarah. When he saw a sleeping Sarah nestled on Xander’s shoulder, he quietly departed and left the food behind. Later, Sarah and Xander awoke and promptly parted when they realized how physically close they were to each other. Xander admitted the circumstances hadn’t been how he’d ever expected to spend the night with Sarah again.

Kayla came into the room to check on Victoria and to provide an update. The little girl was recovering, but some early indicators of possible asthma had been found in her lab results. Xander was alarmed, but Sarah relayed that pneumonia could sometimes signal that a child had asthma, so it was a relatively common occurrence. Sarah thanked Kayla for the update and offered her prayers for Stephanie’s return. She also thanked Kayla for the breakfast, but Kayla said she hadn’t brought the food.

Once they were alone again, things quickly devolved between Xander and Sarah when she suggested he leave. Xander lashed out as Sarah tried to course-correct and stated that he was probably needed at Titan. Xander accused Sarah of looking for an excuse to get rid of him and of viewing him as someone who cared more about work than his sick child. Victoria roused and started coughing. Sarah hurried to comfort her and spat at Xander, “See what you’ve done!”

Sarah blamed their continued issues on Xander’s temper. Xander defended that he was in therapy and becoming a better man, but Sarah would never acknowledge it. She testily reminded him that the custody agreement was not formalized yet and warned Xander not to give her a reason to rethink her decision. She stressed he should leave, and he begrudgingly complied.

Later, Brady returned to the room and said he’d just passed a seething Xander. He had been surprised because he’d gotten the impression they were getting along well during his earlier visit. Sarah realized Brady had brought her her breakfast. He said he hadn’t wanted to interrupt. “I wish you had,” Sarah responded.

Before he visited with Sarah, Brady met with Steve to talk about Stephanie’s abduction. Steve concluded that Jeremy wasn’t their man. As Kayla joined them, the trio wondered if someone could actually be targeting Steve or Kayla. They ran down a list of potential enemies, from Orpheus to Ava, before circling back to the likelihood that the abductor was fixated on Stephanie. Steve and Kayla cited other men who had hurt Stephanie, including Everett and her college rapist, Ford.

Since both of those men had died, Steve and Kayla were at a loss…until Brady brought up another notorious name from the past: Owen Kent. Steve couldn’t believe he’d overlooked the man who had once kidnapped Stephanie and held her in a morgue. He had always believed Owen had somehow ended up in prison or had met his own nasty end. Steve and Brady decided to follow up on Owen’s whereabouts with his family and with Rafe’s help.

Stephanie’s prior ordeal with Owen reminded Steve and Kayla that their daughter was a fighter who would not give up. Steve promised Kayla he would find their girl and bring her home.

In the secret lab room, Owen was enraged when he came inside to find Jeremy had scooted next to Stephanie and was holding her hand as they slept. He forcefully yanked Jeremy awake and away from Stephanie and bellowed that Jeremy had made a big mistake. Stephanie – terrified as Owen started to drag Jeremy out of the room – feigned a leg injury. Owen raced to her side and began massaging her leg. She begged him to untie her and let her stand so the pain in her leg would ease.

Owen skeptically asked if Stephanie was trying to trick him, but she played on his need for her to trust him. She argued that it would be easier for them to leave together if her leg were healed. Owen eventually gave in and untied Stephanie. She pretended to stumble into his arms and shared a look with Jeremy over Owen’s shoulder. Then, Stephanie pulled back and gazed into Owen’s eyes.

When Owen pulled her into a kiss, Stephanie deepened the passionate embrace as Jeremy looked on in disgust. Slowly, Stephanie pulled Owen’s phone from his back pocket and blindly fumbled with the numbers. An ecstatic Owen ended the kiss, in awe that Stephanie had returned his overture. As she pushed the phone's emergency call button, Stephanie claimed she had wanted to reciprocate his feelings for a long time.
