Here’s your Days of our Lives recap for Wednesday, March 18, in which Philip confides in Gabi, danger looms on Ari and Liam's first date, EJ and Belle face off, and Leo and Dimitri literally dodge a bullet.
What happened on Days of our Lives

In Horton Town Square, Philip confessed to Gabi that Titan’s uncertain future was all his fault and because of a “stupid mistake” he’d made. Gabi guiltily listened as Philp told her all about the fraud, about how he’d gotten other people involved in the lie, and about how Tony had blown it all up. Philip still couldn’t understand how the elder DiMera had come across the explosive blackmail information. After Philip finished his story, Gabi said she had something she needed to tell him. Before she could begin her own confession, though, an upset Arianna came on the scene and caught Gabi’s attention.
Ari cried that she’d lost her best friend. Gabi comforted her as Ari opened up about her big fight with Holly. When Ari wondered if she’d overreacted, Gabi assured her daughter that Ari had only been protecting herself and securing her own peace of mind. She urged Ari to “live your best life” without worry to what Holly or anyone else thought. Ari thanked her mom for the pep talk and left, seemingly feeling better.
Philip, who had stood aside while the girls talked, approached and expressed admiration for Gabi’s “feistiness.” Philip put a damper on Gabi’s flirtatious response when he asked what she had wanted to tell him. Gabi forced a smile and claimed it hadn’t been anything important. Philip was relieved, as he’d believed Gabi might have intended to dump him after what he’d told her. Gabi assured him that she didn’t judge because everyone made mistakes; the couple decided to cheer themselves up with a café date.

At the Brady Pub, Roman brought JJ and Theo Shamrock Seltzers on the house in honor of St. Patrick’s Day and as thanks for Stephanie’s safe return. The friends toasted and enjoyed a cordial drink, in which JJ thanked Theo for eventually understanding his decision to rejoin the police force. Theo said he hadn’t been easy on his friend, but JJ was grateful that Theo had made him take a deeper look at how “the worst night of my life” had impacted his decisions and had made him more cognizant of how badly things could go wrong during his work. Theo’s attention was drawn away when Liam entered the pub.
Theo left the table and calmly confronted Liam about the latter’s role in the DiMera kidnappings. Liam tried to explain that he’d only believed he was stocking the crypt for a disaster, but Theo interrupted him and said he was well aware of the excuses. But those excuses didn’t justify Liam’s decision to stay mum after he’d heard the DiMeras had disappeared. Liam offered an apology. Theo expressed his hope that Liam had turned his life around, for the sake of Liam’s son.

After Theo returned to his and JJ’s table, a chastised Liam watched as Ari arrived and warmly greeted Theo, JJ, and Roman. When Ari joined him, Liam noted that Ari seemed to know everyone in town. Ari explained her family connections, which made Liam uncomfortable, especially Ari’s mention of the heavy law enforcement presence in her family. On cue, JJ stopped by Ari’s table to deliver a warning to Ari about hanging out with Liam.
Following the awkward exchange, things got more awkward for JJ when Theo and he left the pub and spotted Gabi and Philip looking very lovey-dovey. Theo called Gabi “the one who got away” for JJ, and he responded that he only had himself to blame for their relationship’s end.
Meanwhile, back in the pub, Ari blew off the encounter as JJ being an “overprotective cousin.” Liam admitted to Ari that he had been arrested and in legal trouble recently. Ari joked that “half of Salem” had been well-acquainted with a jail cell, including her own mother. Ari assumed Liam had paid his debt to society. She wasn’t interested in his past, only his present…and possible future.
Across the pub, Vivian’s henchman continued his surveillance of Liam and fielded a frantic call about Ivan and Vivian.

At the police station, EJ tried in vain to get in touch with Rita over the phone. His demeanor shifted after Belle entered the room and began threatening him with imprisonment. He remained calm as he stated he’d be acting as his own lawyer and that the police had nothing to connect him to Stephanie’s abduction. Belle begrudgingly conceded that Owen had confirmed that Rolf had been the one to hire him. The DA turned to grilling EJ about the secret lab room and the empty pod inside it.
EJ wouldn’t give anything away, citing private funding and his call to “the greater good.” Belle scoffed and accused EJ of chasing power and money instead. He reminded her that medical research wasn’t illegal. Unless said research involved involuntary human experimentation and stolen electricity, Belle challenged. The two continued their banter, with EJ needling Belle about being unable to hate him.
Belle insisted she did hate EJ, and the only thing she hated more was having to let him go due to lack of evidence. EJ was pleased with himself, but his smirk faltered when Belle vowed she would soon put him behind bars for good. Later, EJ finally made contact with Rita. The news that Rita had successfully “taken care of the problem” pleased EJ.

In Alamainia, Dimitri saw the sniper’s target trained on Leo and urgently tackled his ex to the ground. Dimitri then peered over the bed and told Leo the coast was clear, but Leo didn’t respond. Dimitri frantically roused an unconscious Leo, who eventually did emerge from his stupor, dazed and confused. Leo had taken a hard hit to the head after Dimitri had pushed him out of the way. He lost his balance as Dimitri lifted him up, sending both Dimitri and him tumbling onto the bed.
Dimitri wanted to get out of the room, but Leo was still shaky on his legs and rambled incoherently. A commotion at the door put Dimitri on high alert. He relaxed when he realized it was Andrew, whom Dimitri quickly let inside. Andrew explained that he and Paul had neutralized the sniper. Dimitri hoped the developments meant that the ISA was at last acknowledging that Dimitri had been set up.
Andrew updated Dimitri on what he had discovered at the estate where Dimitri claimed to have been held. Dimitri’s fingerprints had been found, but it hadn’t been enough to prove that Dimitri was there unwillingly. However, an employee had confessed she had witnessed Dimitri being held against his will. Dimitri’s excitement soured after Andrew said the kidnapping couldn’t be tied back to Gwen.
Back to his senses, Leo celebrated Dimitri’s exoneration and asked if it meant they could return to Salem. The celebration proved to be short-lived. Andrew had received news of possible foul play. Vivian and Ivan had gone missing…and Dimitri was the prime suspect.
