In Brady’s living room, Tate told Rachel not to worry about the hearing. “It is totally normal to be nervous,” Tate said. Tate assured Rachel that everything would work out. Tate gave Rachel a medallion to hold if she got scared at the courthouse. “It gives you strength and courage,” Tate said. Tate told Rachel that even brave people needed support sometimes.

Rachel retrieved the bottle of vitamins that Sophia had sent her, and she gave them to Tate. Rachel explained that Holly raved about the vitamins on her social media accounts, so she had bought her a bottle as a thank you. After Tate left, Rachel called Sophia to tell her that she had given the vitamins to Tate to deliver to Holly.

“I just hope she likes them since she knows they’re from me,” Rachel said. “Don’t worry, she’s going to love them,” Sophia said. When Sophia asked Rachel why she was not in school, Rachel told her that she had to go to court to testify about EJ’s shooting. Sophia assured Rachel that she would be fine because Rachel was genuinely sorry for what she had done. “I hope you get out soon, too,” Rachel said. “I have a feeling I will,” Sophia countered.

At the police station, Belle told Jada that Shawn was out of surgery. Jada said JJ had confirmed that the shooting had been in self-defense. Belle confirmed that she thought the use of force was justified. Belle admitted she was worried that the shooting would set back Shawn's PTSD recovery. Jada promised that the police force would watch over Shawn.

Jada told Belle that they were still looking for Liam to confirm that he was okay. Jada theorized aloud that Liam had avoided home to protect his family because Liam was a loose end for Klaus’s employer, Vivian. Belle said she would review the ISA’s new evidence to see if it warranted dismissing the case against Dimitri.

Jada informed Belle that Leo had suffered a head injury and that Andrew was flying him back to Salem for treatment without Dimitri. Jada explained that the ISA believed that Dimitri was behind Vivian and Ivan’s disappearance.

Ari took Liam back to her dorm room so that she could tend to the bullet graze wound on his arm. Worried, Liam argued that it was unsafe for Ari to be around him. Ari finished cleaning the wound, and she told Liam that he could hide there. “That guy was trying to kill me. And if he finds out I’m here, he could kill you too,” Liam said. Ari told Liam that the news had confirmed that Klaus was dead.

“There’s nothing for you to worry about now,” Ari said. Liam explained that someone had sent Klaus. Liam told Ari that he had taken a job that had gone badly, and his employers probably still wanted him dead. As Ari attempted to talk Liam into staying hidden in her room, Tate knocked on the door. Ari hid Liam in the closet. When Tate attempted to leave the skincare supplements for Holly, Ari told Tate that Holly had moved out after they had fought. Ari asked Tate to take the last of Holly’s stuff.

“I really don’t want her coming back here,” Ari said. As Tate wondered aloud if Holly had been too embarrassed to tell him the news, he noticed a bloody bandage. “Are you okay?” Tate asked. Ari lied and said she had cut herself shaving. As Ari herded Tate out of her room, he told her that he hoped she and Holly could work through their issues. “I wouldn’t hold your breath,” Ari said.

After Tate left, Ari told Liam that she needed to go to class. Ari asked Liam to stay in her room for his own safety. “I don’t know how I’ll ever be able to thank you,” Liam said. “You can start by trying not to get yourself killed,” Ari said with a grin.

Holly got more advice from Sarah | Image: Peacock

At the hospital, Sarah called Hope to update her on Shawn’s condition. “He is stable. Luckily, the bullet only damaged the muscle, so it is going to take some time to heal,” Sarah said. Sarah told Hope that Shawn was in good hands.

Holly ran into Sarah, and she told Sarah that her doctor did not think Holly’s birth control was the issue. “But it’s not unheard of,” Sarah countered. Holly worried aloud about the emotional damage from her tantrums. Sarah asked what had happened. Holly told Sarah about her fight with Ari.

“I can’t even blame her. I've been a horrible friend to her. I’ve been horrible to everyone,” Holly said. “I know you don’t mean to. Clearly something is going on,” Sarah said. When Holly worried that she would upset Maggie and Sarah now that she had moved back into the mansion, Sarah reassured Holly that they would love her no matter what.

“I just wish I knew what was wrong with me,” Holly said. Holly noted that she could not stifle her rage and that Sarah had left Xander because of his anger issues. Sarah told Holly it was not the same thing. “It’s only a matter of time before Tate leaves me,” Holly whispered. Sarah argued that Holly’s anger issues were temporary, unlike Xander's. Sarah added that there was a lack of trust between her and Xander.

When Sarah talked about how she had decided to give Xander visitation rights, Holly asked Sarah if she thought she might reconcile with Xander. “Letting him see our little girl, that’s one thing. But us as a couple, no, I can’t,” Sarah said. Sarah promised to review Holly’s blood work results when they were ready. Sarah told Holly that she was proud of her for taking steps to deal with her anger issues.

After Holly left the hospital, she ran into Tate in the town square. Tate asked about Holly’s fight with Ari. Holly said she did not want to talk about it. “I’ll have to steer clear of Ari. At least until I figure out what’s wrong with me,” Holly said. Tate gave Holly the vitamins from Rachel. “Just a little thank you for being so nice to her,” Tate said. Holly noted it was a weird but thoughtful gift.

When Holly noted how great the vitamins were for her skin, Tate noted that he was dealing with an acne breakout. Holly told Tate that he could keep the bottle since she had plenty at home. Tate put the bottle in his bag. “Don’t tell Rachel,” Tate said.

In Shawn’s hospital room, JJ dozed in a chair and dreamed about the shooting. JJ startled awake and saw that Shawn was staring at him. Shawn asked JJ why he had not shot Klaus. “That scum had his gun pointed directly at me, JJ. And you still didn’t take the shot,” Shawn said. Shawn said he understood JJ’s hesitation, but he felt like JJ had returned to the job before he was ready for it.

“I was ready!” JJ protested. “The bullet hole in my leg says otherwise,” Shawn countered. JJ explained he had hesitated because he had wanted to be certain that he should fire his weapon. “You either get it right the first time or bad things happen, and you got it wrong. You hesitated when you needed to be decisive,” Shawn said. Shawn told JJ that because of his actions, Shawn had to live with the fact that he had killed a man.

“You’re right. What happened is my fault. In that split second, I lost my nerve,” JJ admitted. With a sigh, Shawn said he deserved some of the blame, too. Shawn noted that JJ had worked overnight, and he had not. “I should have insisted that you stay at the pub and call for backup. I should have known better,” Shawn said. “I should have as well,” JJ said. JJ noted that he had worked hard in therapy so that he would not repeat his past mistake, because he had been afraid of another unjustified shooting.

“And then I go to the opposite extreme. I failed to pull it when it was [justified],” JJ said. Shawn told JJ he was a good cop. With a shake of his head, JJ noted that his actions had almost killed two loved ones. JJ apologized to Shawn. Jada walked into the room, and JJ stepped out so that Jada could question Shawn about the shooting incident.

Shawn told Jada what had happened, but he did not mention JJ’s hesitation. “You did what you had to do,” Jada said. Jada told Shawn that the department would support him through his recovery. “Is there anything else you’d like to add?” Jada asked. Shawn said no. Jada confessed that she had been scared when she had heard about the shooting. “My prayers were answered,” Jada said.

When Belle arrived at the hospital, she asked Sarah about Shawn’s status. Sarah confirmed that Shawn was stable, but he would have a slow recovery. As Sarah started to discuss Shawn’s at-home needs, Belle offered to move in with Shawn so that he would not be alone.

“We’re just good friends who love our daughter and each other,” Belle said. Sarah said she was impressed. Belle noted that it had taken time to get to that point in their relationship. “I wonder if Xander and I will ever get there,” Sarah said. Belle told Sarah it would take time.
