Here's your Days of our Lives recap for Friday, March 27, 2026, when Sophia objected to Trey’s adoption in court, and the judge ordered Rachel to return to Bayview.
What happened on Days of our Lives

As Johnny and Chanel prepared to go to the courthouse for Trey’s formal adoption hearing, Johnny talked about how he had regretted backing out of the adoption at first. “You were going through a rough time. And you worked through it,” Chanel said. Chanel told Johnny he was a great dad. “I love our little guy so much. I mean, I honestly can’t imagine our life without him,” Johnny said.
At the Brady Pub, Paulina dropped off the cake for Johnny and Chanel’s adoption celebration. From a corner table, EJ listened to Paulina talk to Roman about Trey. “I couldn’t help but overhear. Johnny and Chanel are officially adopting Trey today?” EJ asked.
While Roman took the cake back to the fridge, Paulina asked EJ about his experiment. “Everything is moving along quite nicely,” EJ said. Paulina complained that EJ would make untold amounts of money off of his experiment, but she would likely lose everything because of EJ. Roman returned and noted the tension.
“EJ was asking about his party invite to Trey’s adoption party,” Paulina lied. Paulina told EJ that it was up to Johnny and Chanel. EJ asked Paulina to pass along his congratulations, and he walked out. With a sigh, Roman noted that although he hated EJ, he felt sorry for him.

At the courthouse, Judge Dabney vacated Kristen’s sentence, and she gave her time served for the perjury charge. Judge Dabney also announced that Rachel must be returned to Bayview for treatment. “You can’t do this!” Kristen said. Kristen pleaded for mercy. Melinda held Kristen back, and she warned her not to do anything that would get her sent back to prison.
After the judge walked out, Kristen blamed Marlena. “You will pay,” Kristen growled. “All I did was tell the truth. Your daughter needs more help than you and Brady can give her,” Marlena said. Kristen stormed out with Melinda chasing her. Marlena apologized to Brady.
“You know that I had to tell the truth,” Marlena said. “I really wish you hadn’t,” Brady grumbled. Brady left. Marlena admitted to Belle that she had not expected Brady to be so angry at her for telling the truth. Belle reminded Marlena that the situation was Kristen’s fault because she had prematurely removed Rachel from Bayview.
After Marlena left, Judge Dabney demanded to know why Belle had not recused herself from Kristen’s case. Judge Dabney listed all the mistakes that Belle had made. “Filing charges is my purview, not to say anything about the fact that I was protecting a minor,” Belle said defensively. “A minor who happens to be your niece,” Judge Dabney said. The judge asked Belle how she would have proceeded if Rachel had never decided to tell the truth. Belle argued that Rachel had always wanted to come forward since the moment she had remembered what had happened the night of the shooting.
Judge Dabney questioned whether Belle would have told the whole truth if the judge had not subpoenaed Rachel’s medical records. Belle argued that she had not believed that the pistachio incident or Rachel’s release against medical advice had been relevant to the shooting. “That wasn’t your call to make!” Judge Dabney said. Belle apologized. Judge Dabney told Belle that she was considering having her charged with prosecutorial misconduct.

When Johnny and Chanel arrived at the courthouse, Chanel asked Belle what was wrong. Belle assured Johnny that her problem was with another case before Judge Dabney. Belle added that the adoption was a formality, and they should not worry.
When Judge Dabney returned, she started the formal adoption proceedings. As the judge was about to formally announce that the adoption was final, Melinda rushed into the room. “This adoption cannot be finalized until the court hears from one last person,” Melinda said. Sophia walked in. Belle objected, but the judge invited Melinda and Sophia to join the hearing.
As Belle argued that Sophia was unable to speak, Sophia introduced herself as Trey’s biological mother. “Sophia terminated her parental rights,” Belle said. Frustrated, Chanel asked Sophia if she had pretended to be mute. EJ stepped in and announced that he was there to represent Johnny and Chanel. Johnny and Chanel agreed.

Sophia testified about the stress she had been under when she had given birth after Johnny and Chanel had initially backed out of the adoption. “I do not think him and his wife are fit to raise my baby. What happens when he changes his mind again? What happens to my son then?” Sophia asked.
EJ argued that Sophia had lied about the baby’s paternity and that she had been behind a false accusation about Johnny and a student. “And to say nothing of the fact that she is a patient at Bayview Sanitarium and for the last five months has been claiming that she’s been unable to speak,” EJ added. EJ handed the judge a file with the evidence to back up his claims.
EJ asked Sophia who she wanted to raise her son. “Anybody but them,” Sophia said. EJ pointed out that Sophia’s objection was not to adoption. “Both biological parents have made it clear that they have no intention of raising this child,” EJ said. EJ argued that Sophia only wanted to stop the adoption out of revenge.
Judge Dabney said that although she sympathized with Sophia, Sophia’s preference was not a factor in the case. Judge Dabney explained that the only question was whether the adoptive parents could provide a loving home. Judge Dabney explained that Johnny and Chanel had proven that they could. “This adoption is finalized. Johnny and Chanel, you are now the legal parents of John Paul, excuse me, Trey DiMera,” Judge Dabney said.
“Trey, he’s ours forever,” Johnny whispered to Chanel. Sophia gasped. “But that’s my baby, so I get a say in who his parents are,” Sophia muttered. Melinda escorted a weeping Sophia out of the room. Chanel thanked EJ. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you, Johnny. I hope one day you’ll realize that,” EJ said. EJ welcomed Trey to the family.

In the town square, Kristen rolled her eyes as she listened to Brady apologize to Marlena for having snapped at her. “You were under oath. I understand why you had to tell the truth,” Brady said. “Well, I sure as hell don’t,” Kristen muttered. Kristen argued that Marlena knew that her testimony would mean that Rachel would get sent back to Bayview.
“What I want is to have her get the help that she needs,” Marlena countered. “They treat her like a problem, not a person,” Kristen argued. Kristen added that if Marlena had truly loved Rachel, she would not have advocated for Bayview. “If I loved her?” Marlena shouted. Marlena stressed that she loved her granddaughter.
“If somebody is sentencing her to a nightmare, that would be you. You’re the one who’s taught her how to lie and how to lash out, and how not to trust people. I don’t call that love. Maybe you do. I call that emotional abuse,” Marlena said. “You have no idea what my relationship is with my daughter,” Kristen countered. Kristen vowed never to let Marlena spend time with Rachel again.
As Marlena walked off, Brady warned Kristen that yelling at Marlena would not help the situation. “You know she feels awful about what happened today,” Brady argued. Kristen scoffed. “She hurt our daughter with her compulsion to be truthful,” Kristen said. Brady told Kristen to control her emotions because they needed to break the news to Rachel.

When Brady and Kristen returned to his apartment, Kristen said that Rachel would never forgive Marlena for her betrayal. “Rachel is never going to know or find out about that, because we’re not going to tell her about Marlena’s testimony,” Brady countered. Kristen refused to stay silent. Brady argued that Kristen had forced Marlena’s hand when Kristen had unilaterally decided to pull Rachel out of Bayview.
“The fact is our daughter needs help,” Brady said. Kristen argued for Rachel to continue with outpatient care because she had been improving since her release. Brady told Kristen about the incident with the skin care supplements. “That can’t be true!” Kristen said. Brady explained that Sophia had manipulated Rachel, and Rachel had not known that the supplements were harmful.
“This proves my point. None of this would have happened if Rachel hadn’t been at Bayview, where she was crossing paths with malicious lunatics like Sophia Choi,” Kristen argued. Brady countered that they could not live in denial about Rachel’s need for treatment. “Rachel and I are leaving Salem,” Kristen announced. Brady reminded Kristen that they had split custody, and he could have her sent back to prison if Kristen took Rachel.
“I will have full custody. Do not fight me on this,” Brady warned Kristen. Kristen broke down in tears. Brady argued that although he did not want to tell Rachel that she had to go back to Bayview, it was their job as her parents to be strong. “She has to know that all we want to do is protect her, right? Please do that with me. That’s all that matters right now,” Brady said. “She’s my heart. She’s my soul. I can’t lose her again,” Kristen said. Brady comforted Kristen.
Rachel joined Kristen and Brady in the living room, where she asked why they looked they were upset. Brady explained that the judge had learned about Rachel’s early release from Bayview, and she had determined that Rachel should finish her treatment there. “No! Don’t make me go back there!” Rachel cried out. Kristen apologized. Rachel argued that she had been doing everything her doctors had asked of her. Rachel begged Kristen not to make her go back to Bayview.
