Days of our Lives Recap, March 30: Sophia’s scheme is exposed

Here’s your Days of our Lives recap for Monday, March 30, 2026, when Tate and Holly put the pieces together for themselves, Rachel puts the pieces together for Brady, Johnny and Chanel mull the future, and Sophia makes another grand entrance.

What happened on Days of our Lives

At Bayview, Brady brought a reluctant Rachel to her room. Rachel complained about the accommodations and struck a yoga pose on her bed so she could “manifest” her mom getting her out of the “looney bin” again. Brady calmly explained that while Kristen was talking to Dr. Gregory, the likelihood of Rachel being released was small. Rachel couldn’t understand what she had done wrong to land her back in Bayview, since she had been working hard to be good. Brady cautioned Rachel not to keep things from him.

When Rachel still seemed confused, Brady told her he knew about Holly’s pills. He asked his daughter why she had stopped taking her meds, but Rachel insisted she still faithfully took her medication. He then asked why Rachel had given Holly the strange gift of skin supplements. Rachel agreed the gift was odd, but it had been Sophia’s idea. Rachel had only been trying to be a good friend, and Sophia had kept bugging her about it. Rachel also admitted that she had taken Brady's money so Sophia could buy a phone.

Rachel apologized, and she was shocked to learn that the skin supplements she had given to Holly contained anti-psychotic meds. Rachel swore she didn’t know about the switch and asked if Holly was okay. She couldn’t understand Sophia’s motivation until Brady reminded her of Sophia’s grudge against Holly. As he absorbed the revelation, Brady comforted his daughter, assuring her that he loved and believed her.

At Marlena’s place, Marlena confided to Belle that she blamed herself for Rachel’s current circumstances. Belle stressed to her mom that Marlena shouldn’t feel guilty because Kristen had put them both in an impossible predicament. Belle then offered her own confession: she could be charged with prosecutorial misconduct for not recusing herself from the case and for staying quiet about Rachel for so long. Marlena defended her daughter, but Belle braced herself to be held accountable for what she had done. Looking for a slight change of subject, Belle recounted how her day hadn’t gotten much better and filled Marlena in on the developments during Johnny and Chanel’s adoption hearing.

Marlena took some shots at EJ for playing “hero.” Belle was just grateful that the hearing had ultimately gone as it should. The mother-daughter chat was interrupted by a call from Brady, who had stunning news for Marlena. After she ended the call, Marlena updated Belle on Brady’s disclosure that Rachel hadn’t intentionally switched the pills after all. Brady soon arrived on the scene to provide clarification and to ask Marlena and Belle a very important question.

Since Rachel’s innocence had been confirmed, Brady wondered, could the decision to send her to Bayview be reversed? Belle dashed Brady’s hopes when she explained the ruling would most likely stand. Marlena dampened those hopes even more by stating she still would have testified that Rachel could benefit from more time in Bayview. Brady acknowledged his daughter needed help beyond what he could give her.

In Horton Town Square, Melinda attempted to calm Sophia following the judge’s ruling about Trey. She suggested they get something to eat before heading back to Bayview, and that idea was fine with Sophia…minus the going back to Bayview part. Sophia said the only reason her mother had admitted her in the first place was that she couldn’t speak, and now that issue had been resolved. Besides, she was an adult and couldn’t be held involuntarily.

Melinda tried her best to persuade Sophia that more time in Bayview could help her if she finally opened up to her doctors. Sophia, however, was tired of others controlling and defining her life and casting her as “the victim, the villain,” or “the good daughter.” She wanted to go somewhere where she could be who she wanted, with no apologies. Melinda said she wanted that peace of mind for Sophia, too, but Sophia could only achieve her goal if she took care of herself mentally.

At the Brady Pub, Holly noted Tate’s seeming sadness. He told her about Rachel going back to Bayview. Both teens assumed the decision had something to do with Holly’s pill situation. Tate felt guilty for reassuring his little sister that everything would be fine. He just wanted his little sister and the light and easy relationship they used to have back.

Holly comforted Tate, so he asked her how she was doing. She explained that Sarah had been weaning her off the meds to prevent an adverse reaction. While she was recovering physically, Holly lamented the damage done to her reputation and to her friendship with Ari. Tate didn’t think anyone would hold her behavior against her once they learned the truth. Holly was skeptical that anyone would believe a child had drugged her. Besides, she didn’t want to get Rachel into more trouble by making the whole ordeal public.

Holly and Tate’s discussion turned to Johnny and Chanel. Tate explained that the planned pub celebration hadn’t happened because of the drama that had unfolded at the adoption hearing – the drama named Sophia. Holly was taken aback at Sophia’s actions and by the revelation that Sophia could talk. She had truly believed Sophia had turned a corner after their encounter at Bayview. The mention of said counter made Holly do a double-take.

Holly recalled to Tate that during that encounter, Sophia had “accidentally” knocked over her purse. What if she had done it intentionally? And what if Sophia – possibly with Rachel’s help – had been the one to tamper with her skin supplements? As the couple pondered that troubling possibility, Sophia strolled into the pub, smiled, and gave her former friends a breezy greeting.

At Johnny and Chanel’s place, the couple collapsed onto the couch in exhaustion from the day’s events. They had happily put their son to bed but remained rattled by Sophia’s sudden appearance at the hearing. The couple counted their blessings nonetheless, which included the little one Chanel was carrying, whom Johnny had nicknamed “Quatro” in honor of the child being the fourth member of their family. Chanel also cautiously expressed gratitude to EJ for helping them with the case. She considered it a promising small step on EJ’s “road to redemption.”

Johnny admitted it felt nice to have his father’s help and support. But if Chanel didn’t want the relationship to go any further, it wouldn’t. Chanel was touched by Johnny’s “mindfulness” of her feelings, but she stood by her statement that Johnny should have a relationship with his father if he wanted it. Johnny agreed and reiterated that they would set proper “boundaries.” Having EJ at the “periphery” of their lives was certainly better than having him force his way into the “center” of their lives, Chanel reasoned.

With their trials and tribulations seemingly behind them, Johnny and Chanel settled in for a game and a relaxing evening. But fate seemed to have other plans, in the form of a knock on the door. Melinda came bearing apologies for Sophia’s actions and important news about her client. Against Melinda’s advice, Sophia had checked herself out of Bayview. While Sophia no longer had any legal claim on Trey, Chanel feared how the volatile girl might yet upend their lives.
