Days of our Lives Recap, May 1: Kristen appears to murder Sophia

On the Friday, May 1, 2026, episode of Days of our Lives, Amy found a suicide note, Holly unloaded on Sophia, Sarah has a diagnosis for Chanel, Johnny was rushed to the hospital, and Kristen finally gets her revenge.

Sophia's note raises alarms on Days of our Lives

Sophia finished writing her suicide note in her bedroom when Amy walked in. Sophia lied and told her mother that she needed to meet up with a student to discuss summer classes. Sophia told Amy that she was sorry that she had caused trouble for the family. “But I know that you’ve always wanted the best for me,” Sophia said.

Sophia told Amy that she appreciated her. Amy admitted that she had made a lot of mistakes with Sophia, and she was thankful for another chance and told her daughter that she was proud of her.

While Amy answered the front door, Sophia overheard Amy talking to Brady and Jada about the vitamins. When Amy returned to Sophia’s bedroom with Brady and Jada, Sophia was gone and the window was open. While Jada left to search for Amy, Brady stayed behind with Amy. Amy found Sophia’s suicide note, prompting Jada put out a BOLO for Sophia.

Holly and Tate have it out with Sophia

Holly met up with Tate at the cafe in the square where they talked about exams and her recovery. As Holly started to talk about fall classes, Tate admitted that he was dropping out of school to become a personal trainer. Holly admitted she was disappointed, but she only wanted Tate to do what made him happy.

Sophia yelled at them from across the square about the social media pile on. Holly reminded Sophia that what she had posted online was true, not a rumor. Tate cautioned Holly not to engage, but she continued to bicker with Sophia, who mentioned that Holly had said she wished Sophia would drop dead.

“How did you think I was going to feel after everything you’ve done?” Holly shouted. Sophia insisted that she had not dosed Holly. “We all know that you did,” Tate said. Sophia argued that Holly was jealous. Frustrated, Holly told Sophia that no one liked her or wanted her around, and that Sophia deserved it.

When Sophia continued to play innocent, Holly told her that she was happy that Trey would be raised by Johnny and Chanel instead of Sophia. “You’re horrible,” Sophia whispered. Holly admitted that part of her wished that Sophia was dead. Sophia blew Holly a kiss and walked away.

A frustrated Holly admitted to Tate that she had posted that Sophia was dead to her, but she had only meant it as a figure of speech. Tate said he understood. Holly complained about how Sophia continued to provoke her. Tate assured Holly that they would make Sophia pay for what she had done. Upset, Holly asked Tate if she was a horrible person for lashing out at Sophia. Tate said Holly’s reaction was understandable.

Chanel returned home with Trey and saw Johnny tied up in the living room. When Chanel refused to leave, Johnny directed her to blow out the candle. The air caught fire. Johnny woke up from his nightmare, still tied to the chair, and he breathed a sigh of relief, but the candle continued to burn.

At the hospital, Chanel told Sarah that it was unlike Johnny not to return her calls or texts. When the results came in for the second round of imaging, Sarah explained that it appeared to be a malignant tumor, and they would need to schedule a biopsy. Chanel burst into tears, but Sarah assured her that they would do whatever it took to help Chanel and her baby.

At Johnny’s apartment complex, Javi and another firefighter checked on a reported gas leak. As Javi approached Johnny’s door, he smelled gas. Javi shouted out for Johnny and Chanel as he banged on their front door. Inside, Johnny weakly called for help. Javi instructed the firefighter to call in the leak and get equipment from the rig. Javi broke open the front door, and he rushed over to Johnny to cut him free. A groggy Johnny looked over at the candle.

Javi slammed the kitchen door closed as the air caught fire, isolating it from the living room. The firefighter returned with equipment as Javi cut Johnny free. Javi asked if anyone else was home, but Johnny could not talk.

At the hospital, Javi arrived with Johnny on a gurney. Javi explained that Johnny was unconscious due to methane exposure. Chanel was panicked when saw that the patient was Johnny. While Sarah worked on Johnny, Javi asked Chanel about Trey. Chanel explained that Trey was in Chicago with his cousins. Javi told Chanel that her neighbor had reported the smell of gas, and they had tracked it back to Chanel’s apartment. Javi explained he had found Johnny tied to a chair next to a booby trap. “Seems like someone was trying to kill him,” Javi said.

In a hospital room, Johnny stirred awake and confirmed that the gas leak had not been an accident. “Sophia Choi,” Johnny whispered. When Chanel was able to visit Johnny, he asked about Trey. Chanel explained that Trey was safe, and she wanted to focus on Johnny’s recovery.

In the square, Brady and Jada asked Tate if he had seen Sophia. Tate noted that they had argued with Sophia, and she had run off upset. Brady told Tate and Holly about the suicide note. At the hospital, Sarah called Jada and told her about Johnny and Sophia. Javi passed out in front of Sarah.

Sophia met up with Kristen in an isolated wooded area along the river. “Did you take care of Johnny?” Kristen asked. Sophia threw the gun in the water as an answer and asked for money and a passport. Kristen told Sophia that everyone needed to believe that Sophia was dead. Sophia confirmed that she had written the suicide note.

As Sophia started to tear up, Kristen warned Sophia not to back out of the plan. Kristen instructed Sophia to leave her backpack on ground, throw her shoes in the river, and touch the railing to leave her fingerprints. Sophia did as instructed, then Kristen hit her over the head with a rock. “Did you really think that I would let you get away with what you did to my daughter?” Kristen sneered at an unconscious Sophia. Two goons stepped out of the darkness and tossed Sophia’s body into the river. “I told you revenge was sweet,” Kristen said.
