On the Monday, May 4, 2026 episode of Days of our Lives, the hospital is the hot-spot for medical emergencies, reunions, confessions, cover-ups, and a side helping of DiMera sibling drama.

Cat delivers big news

At Small Bar, Cat regaled EJ with stories of…Santa Claus moving to New York (feels like a Christmas move in the making). EJ apologized for being distracted and admitted he was ruminating over his unceremonious ouster from head of the will reading. EJ’s rumination was interrupted by a phone call. Johnny was hurt and at Salem Hospital. Oh, no, EJ had to go!

Cat approached Kristen, who had been busy with her own ruminations (about little things like murder) at the bar. Cat told her about Johnny, and Kristen DiMera put on her best Emmy-winning performance as the concerned aunt—and then competed with herself by replacing her "@#$%!" with a "Thank God!" after discovering that Johnny was still amongst the land of the living.

Later, Cat made her way to Super-Spy Secret Meeting Central — aka Rafe’s house — to tell her sorta-partner about the near-miss for Johnny. Rafe already knew and was relieved Johnny was going to be okay, as Johnny was like a son to him. Rafe moved past the whole surrogate son nearly dead situation long enough to side-eye Cat for being on a “date” with EJ. Cat reassured Rafe her turn as assistant/seductress was purely professional.

At the nurses’ station, Sarah played Florence Nightingale to a collapsed Javi. She quickly got him into an examining room and ordered some impressively fast tests for Salem University Hospital. Javi had inhaled noxious fumes without his gear on, and the adrenaline wearing off had eventually caught up with him, leading to his meet-and-greet with the hospital floor. But in the long-term, he should be fine.

Just as Javi took a breather, Leo (who had heard through the reporter vine about an incident at Tesoro's" place), whirled into the room and gasped when he saw Javi on the bed. Leo had been looking for Johnny’s room but had stumbled into Javi’s instead. Sarah explained that Javi would be fine and tried to usher a babbling Leo out, at Javi’s request. But at Leo's insistence, Javi begrudgingly agreed to hear his ex out.

Once they were alone, Leo promptly stuck his foot in his mouth (an Olympic sport for him) and suggested Javi didn’t want to be alone with him because he was afraid of old feelings coming back. Nudging his big toe in a little further, he then compared the situation to his recent turmoil with Dimitri. After an exasperated Javi noted Leo was “sucking all the oxygen out of the room,” Leo backed off and affirmed he had been sincerely worried about “Tesoro.” Cue the chillest little baby in the world’s entrance…oh, and Paulina. She had gotten the wrong room, too, but she was grateful for a chance to thank heroic Javi for saving Johnny’s life; Javi went all 'aw, shucks, ma’am, just doing my job.'

Trey’s “godfamily” shared a warm reunion with him before Paulina and baby departed. Javi and Leo couldn’t believe Paulina’s assertion that Sophia had been the cause of the near-deaths. Leo said Trey would one day hear the story of how Javi had saved his life and called Javi a true hero. Javi got distant and stressed he couldn’t do “this” with Leo, so he gently tossed Leo out of the friend zone and onto the sidelines.

When Sarah returned with an update for her patient, Leo pointedly asked if he should get in touch with Gabi, Rafe, or the "boyfriend." Javi said he had it covered and watched as Leo made his exit. “It gets easier,” Sarah observed. (Does it now, Sarah?).

In Johnny’s hospital room, Chanel cuddled up to her husband, grateful that he was okay and would be around for their kids. Chanel got extra-emotional at the mention of Trey and “Quatro” (those pet names have a funny habit of sticking around sometimes). Johnny took notice and added that Chanel would be there, too. He asked her what was wrong, but the conversation got interrupted by a visit from EJ (who hugged his son and expressed his relief), then by Jada.

Johnny updated Jada on the circumstances leading up to his rescue. Jada had her own update: Sophia hadn’t been located yet, but a suicide note had. Johnny and Chanel absorbed the news of Sophia’s possible death (not so fast!), and Johnny reflected on why his pleas for Sophia to think of the future might have fallen on deaf ears.

Later, Chanel finally told Johnny about the mammogram and the doctors’ concerns that her tumor could be cancerous. It was Johnny’s turn to offer reassurance to his wife, but she didn’t want to think about it until they had gotten definitive test results. The couple’s very-bad, no-good day got a little brighter when Paulina and Trey made an appearance. Chanel enjoyed time with her son but didn’t fess up to Paulina about her appointment.

Those demented DiMeras

In the waiting area, EJ scoffed when he saw Kristen awaiting news on Johnny’s dea – um, condition. Of course she cared! Johnny was her nephew and family! (Better be glad there weren’t any thunderstorms around, Kristen). EJ’s big sis again had to hide her disappointment when EJ revealed Johnny was “none the worse for wear."

But when Kristen heard how Sophia’s true plan had unfolded, she couldn’t quite hide her disappointment at the girl’s “Byzantine” approach. Kristen covered like a champ, though, and even took a shot at EJ for daring to show glee at the prospect of Sophia being dead (reaally better watch out for that lightning). Kristen’s sudden defense of Sophia piqued EJ’s interest, and he suggested that Kristen might have just as much of a grudge against Sophia as himself. As the Bickersons continued their twisted version of family bonding time, Jada listened on quietly. Salem’s favorite snoop, Leo, was not quite as discreet, as he strolled up and asked about the commotion.

Jada’s phone played the part of interrupter this time. With Kristen, EJ, and Leo as her captive audience, the commissioner shared an update about the town's newest most wanted fugitive. Sophia’s backpack and shoes had been discovered at the river. The girl herself: MIA and nowhere to be found (has Sophia pulled a Nick Fallon, Part One death?).

Coming up on Days of our Lives

Jada relays her update about Sophia to Amy Choi. How will the Mama Bear react? And how will Sophia’s most favored tormentees, Tate and Holly, react to their former friend’s potential fate?

Meanwhile, on the other side of Salem drama, Julie and Philip play confidant for Stephanie and Gabi (separately, but perhaps they could create the latest Horton and Kiriakis alliance and open a Shrinks for Dummies business to compete with Marlena). And Alex makes his best ‘Salem is the place to be’ pitch to Joy. (Just leave out the evil twins, demented doctor mask specials, resurrection pods, serial killers, and devil possessions in your pitch, Alex.)
