At the Brady Pub, Roman finished up preparations for Trey’s baby shower. Eric and Will were the first arrivals. Roman greeted his son and grandson with big hugs. Will explained that Sonny couldn’t come because of work, and Eric said the same of Nicole.

Eric and Will briefly discussed Arianna and Holly. Both men were glad the girls had each other, especially after what had happened with Sophia. Will likened the situation to Sloan’s deception about Jude. Eric wouldn’t wish the pain of losing a child on anyone, but Will and he were both happy that Johnny and Chanel had gotten their happy ending. After further catching up, Roman asked Eric and Will what they thought of Sami’s news.

At Marlena’s place, Sami and Marlena shared a warm reunion. Marlena complimented her daughter on putting the shower together on such short notice. Sami admitted she had another reason for coming, as she had big news. Marlena wondered if the news had anything to do with Sami hiding her hand behind her back. Caught, Sami flashed her wedding ring. Marlena noted its extravagance, while Sami noted her mother’s less-than-enthused response.

Marlena brought up the short duration of Sami and her fiancé, Dante’s, courtship. Sami insisted the two months she had known Dante had been full of joy, and she was certain he was the right man for her. Marlena then turned her skepticism to Dante’s mob ties. Sami defended her fiancé and stressed he had nothing to do with his father’s business. Marlena reminded Sami she’d once said the same about EJ.

Sami said she wasn’t the same person who had something to prove, and she was going into her relationship with Dante with eyes wide open. Marlena backed off and affirmed she only wanted her daughter’s happiness. Sami promised she was happy, and mother and daughter called a truce. Later, Marlena and Sami arrived at the pub. Sami couldn’t resist a snarky comment about her siblings no-showing the event before entering.

A slightly exasperated Marlena explained Carrie, Brady, and Belle’s reasons for missing the shower. Sami quickly moved on to greeting her one present sibling, Eric, and her dad. After stepping aside with Eric, Sami threw some more snark at Nicole, and she perked up when Eric mentioned Nicole and him having problems not long ago. He insisted those issues were in the past. The twins wished for each other’s romantic happiness.

Meanwhile, Marlena and Roman commented on Sami’s engagement. Both agreed their daughter was always full of surprises. Marlena claimed she was fine with the news, but Roman said with concern that she looked pale.

In Rafe’s office, Eli congratulated Rafe on rejoining the FBI. Rafe talked up his partnership with the CIA and specifically with Cat. While she was capable, it had been a challenge because of her lack of field experience and because of the subject of the case: EJ. Both Cat and he had complicated associations with the DiMera family. Eli warned his fellow FBI agent about letting things get personal.

In Horton Town Square, Abe, Paulina, and Lani picked up a Sweet Bits cake for the shower. When Paulina briefly left them alone, Abe promptly took the opportunity to attempt recruiting Lani to his cause with Theo. Lani cautioned her dad that he wouldn’t like what she had to say: she agreed with Paulina. Theo was a grown man who wanted to work with his family, which did include the DiMeras. Despite Abe’s feelings on the subject, he could never change the reality that Theo was a DiMera.

At the Hernandez home, Javi encouraged Leo to stop working and to get ready for the shower. Leo said he had a lot of work, but Javi believed Leo was looking for an excuse not to attend the event. Leo insisted that while a part of him dreaded seeing Tesoro with his new family, he really did have a backlog of investigating to do. The talk of Leo’s reporting prompted Javi to question whether Leo was safe due to his investigation of EJ. Leo claimed he was okay but confessed that he was mulling taking on another assignment…from Gwen.

Leo hesitantly told Javi about Gwen’s request for his assistance in tracking down Dimitri, whom she believed might be dead. Leo said he would turn the assignment down if it made Javi uncomfortable. Javi was okay with it, but he wondered how Leo felt about finding his ex – especially if Gwen’s assumptions about Dimitri’s fate proved true.

At Johnny and Chanel’s place, Johnny tried in vain to calm a fussy Trey. Chanel was equally unsuccessful, so Johnny rushed for the book Leo had made for them about the baby’s care. Johnny found a passage about running the vacuum to quiet the baby when nothing else worked. The couple shared a lighter moment when Johnny admitted he didn’t know where to find the vacuum. Chanel suggested they cancel plans for the shower and stay in for the night.

Johnny dreaded Sami’s reaction if they cancelled a party she had planned. Chanel decided they should go. She confided to Johnny that she felt guilty about inviting Rafe, Leo, and Javi to the shower when they were already having such a difficult time parting with the baby. Johnny gave his wife a pep talk, and the couple soon departed with Trey.

Later, Johnny, Chanel, and Trey made their grand entrance at the pub and were quickly swarmed by family members, with Sami leading the way. As everyone cooed over the baby, Rafe, Javi, and Leo quietly entered. Leo almost turned to leave, but Javi stopped him. Johnny and Chanel spotted the new arrivals and ushered Javi and Leo over to see their godson. Leo greeted “Tesoro” but caught himself and corrected to “Baby T.” The guests dispersed and mingled.

Eli and Lani offered Johnny and Chanel all the baby clothes they could handle. The couple hinted, though, that they might want the clothes back soon. Chanel caught on and asked if Eli and Lani were thinking about having another child. They smiled and confirmed they were looking to expand their family.

Will congratulated Sami on the engagement. He was sure that once everyone met Dante, they would like him as much as Will did. Eli and Lani also chatted with Sami after Lani did a check-up call on her twins. Sami cracked that she was an expert on twin drama, as evidenced by both Eric and her and her own twins. She fondly thought back to the births of Johnny and Allie.

Later, Sami reconnected with Rafe. She had wanted to tell him about her engagement personally after what had unfolded between them the last time she was in town, but Rafe already knew. He offered her his best wishes but said he was running a background check on Dante. Sami grinned and replied that she expected nothing less. She had a flashback to her early combative relationship with Rafe.

Sami made the rounds to Johnny and Chanel as well. They all agreed to get together some time soon so that Johnny could meet Dante. When she had a private moment with her son, Sami encouraged Johnny to find forgiveness for EJ…not for EJ’s sake but for Johnny’s as well as Trey’s sake. Sami didn’t believe Johnny wanted to set an example for his son of holding onto anger and pain.

Marlena and Leo caught up as they watched over the baby. Leo said he was glad Baby T would carry the name of such a great man as John. He seemed touched after learning that Johnny and Chanel would still refer to the baby as “Little T.” Marlena soon announced to the group that she was leaving so she could turn in early for the gala the next day. Will offered to drive her home.

As the remaining guests gathered, Johnny and Chanel cut their cake and a toast was raised to Trey. After mention was made of all the families the boy had – ending with the DiMeras – Johnny visibly tensed.

Later, after the party concluded, Johnny and Chanel looked on in admiration at Lani and Eli’s PDAs, calling the couple “relationship goals.” When Eli and Lani returned to their room, they immediately got to work on trying for a new baby. Meanwhile, Johnny and Chanel returned home and gazed lovingly at their sleeping son. They reveled in the blessing of new parenthood.

Back at Marlena’s place, Marlena stated how happy she was to see Will. She made him promise to come back soon, with Sonny in tow next time. As Will went to fetch tea for his grandmother, a worried expression crossed his face.

Back at the pub, cleanup commenced for Roman, Paulina, Abe, and Rafe. The agent was distracted by a call. After he ended it, Rafe announced to the group that Tony had failed to show up for his next port call and had officially been declared missing.
